They did not have a registration (or a card) so could not log in. They were looking as potential customers.

The reference given by Samh004 is view able by anybody, you dont need to be logged in.

It should also be noted that I'd never looked for that information before as it's not what I use the card for... so I had no idea where to go :p

I do agree on the bad phone service point, but if that was their actual gripe, they did a poor job explaining it (from what you say).

Judging from the run around you received it is clear that Qantas Cash are not sure what sort of card it is either. It's certainly not a credit card.

It's a prepaid card. Not a debit card as it is not linked to a bank account, nor a credit card as there is no credit facility. Same category as a throw away gift card (also considered prepaid).

Many merchants do not accept prepaid cards. Woolworths was a case in point although now rectified I believe.

What about aldi this classed as a debit or credit card on Aldi system?

In an earlier post I mentioned I was waiting on a company to credit some funds to my Qantas Cash Card. The delay was caused by the company processing the refund. A day after they said they had processed my refund the funds were in my Qantas Cash account. I guess I'll lose the points for the original transaction but I don't really mind as it wasn't a huge amount.

If only hotel preauthorisation refunds can be that fast.
20 days for me, one time.
28 days for me another time.
And yes, I had read on here and on the QCC FAQs about not using the QCC as a card for hotel preauthorisation.
Odd some hotels won't accept visa or mastercard debit cards, but will happily take QCC.
Maybe they know it takes so long for the preauthorisation refund. And the fact they are sitting on our $50 or $100 for those few weeks/month.

My suggestion to those who have pre-auth issues with hotels is to put a credit card down on check in and just pay with the QCash on checkout.

Yes, it must be another conspiracy.

The Qantas Cash facility is not a debit card as it is not linked to a bank account. It is most akin to a stored value/prepaid card.

The merchant does not get the pre-auth $, it is sitting in banking limbo (actually it's still in your account with an authority over it by the merchant). No conspiracy, these things sit across your credit card for the same period of time, unless the merchant manually releases it (which they don't because they're lazy).

Yes I know. Others, however, do not and simply assume the worst. ;)

Ok, here is an analogy.
Went to check into hotel, it was a hotel on Latimer Sq, CHC.
I don't have a true credit card, Visa or Mastercard or AMEX or Diners, right, and they would not accept VisaDebit or Mastercard Debit.
Only had QCC and VGW, (VGW didn't have a lot sitting in it), QCC had though, so the check in person said they would accept the QCC which had Platinum on it of course, eh, so that was it.
Lucky I had Nzd$300 or so in it, Visso the Nzd$50 preauthorisation hold was ok.
On check out 2 days later, I had eaten a few things from the mini bar, so again paid with the QCC, that Nzd$50 took about 28 days to come back.
The mini bar snacks though was processed ASAP, 3 days and it went from pending to "hotel name-Christchurch-Nzd$19.75 or so.
Am going to NZ again in Jan, time to load up both QCC and VGW. AKL this time. A nights stay at that $$$ hotel next to AKLi airport. They have taken 21 days to return the QCC preauthorisation last time I stayed there, but its the only way to save having to stay in AKL CBD and get the Airbus at 3am.
Edit: has anyone tried to check into a hotel with one of those Aust Post prepaid Visa/Mastercard cards or the preauthorisation?

If the hotel staff do the right thing, they can key in the pre auth number when taking the final payment at checkout, and use up the pre auth (which may or may not then release the remaining pre auth).

The problem is most times at checkout they just create a new transaction.

On anther topic using cards n Las Vegas. There are issues getting cash at some casinos. Boyd casinos for one.

Haven't checked back in this thread, but ...

Just noticed, that using a QCC for the $US70. 'cash & points' fee for an IHG hotel reservation, will produce the 'International Transfer' allocation of QFF points.

It would seem, that with the current QCC promo of 'double points' for International currency spend, one can use their QCC to buy 'a few' $US70. transactiond with IHG, wait for the month to pass, then get the points credited to your QFF account - then cancel the hotel booking. This results in a 10,000 IHG points credit back to your account. ( a well known process for those who follow the IHG Forum page ).

Does anyone know when the new password login change will happen?

It doesn't appear to say. Just been coming soon for a while.

Personally though, I have no issue with the current system. It's not hard for me and I struggle with a lot :p

So I hope whatever change they make to appease the masses doesn't actually lead to an even worse system. But if it does, I want to be first on the record to say I told you so ;)
