Qantas Cash Card

Just received my new QFF card with a new expiry date after rolling over another status year. The old card is valid for Qantas Cash purposes till early 2015 so I assumed I could continue using it till then as I did not want the hassle of trying to activate from overseas. Tried to use the old card and of course it does not work. Ring Qantas Cash to activate the card and it takes 3 mins 51 secs to get to Qantas Cash via the QFF site, to start the process. Why is there no direct number?? I get through to activation after 5 mins and 22 secs on the phone I enter the correct details 3 times, and I know they are correct as they are on my screen, and three times am told by an automated voice the information is invalid. I wait on the line for another 3 mins 22 secs until it is answered by an operator and then go through the lengthy "please answer the security questions" before they will attempt to activate the card. They attempt it and of course it is invalid according to the system. After trying several things they eventually get it activated. I am advised to wait on the line for my new pin number. The operator says yes the pin will be reissued for a new card. I wait only to have my old pin read out to me, which means it did not change. It took me 19 min and 53 secs to activate a replacement card. The operator was very helpful and apologetic but if it was one of the major banks it would have taken 30 seconds 'on line' to activate the card. Enough said about the Qantas Cash system and how well it (does not) work. Can we update to a 21st century system? If Heritage Bank gives the CBA a call they will show them how it should be done. Rant complete.

Yes horrible inefficient and unwieldy process isn't it. And in typical Qantas fashion, the ones most affected are their members with status (since NBs don't have cards that expire every year).

I didn't think I would ever be grateful to be LTS but clearly I should be. I have practically zero chance of qualifying for SG or LTG so will not need to go through this process until 09/18 when the MasterCard bit expires.:)

I was just on the phone to the Qantas Social Team and the woman on the phone said that when you go from one status to another such as from NB->PS (I think I got those right) your old Qantas cash card works for two months after your new one is shipped out to you. I haven't had that happen yet (going from NB->PS in a month!) but has anyone else seen that?

Mrs Flying Fox made SG this year and I thought that I would smart. Planned to use her NB card as a cash card and hopefully avoid all the re-activations etc and use her SG card for flying.

Nope, this doesn't work. Shame really as it would have made my life easier.

Yes, my old WP card is still functioning having dropped to LTG

Oh dear! I was planning to use that trick (never activating the higher status card) too! Looks like I'll have to activate it after all!

I got an offer from Qantas for double points on international purchases, from 1 point per Dollar to 2 points per dollar, not sure if I want to bother. Virgin if you want some extra funds please let me know.

Also the woman on the phone said that you can reactivate online... Anyone else found you can do this? Everywhere I've read it is only though the phone

Since I haven't activated my silver card, it looks like I can still use the bronze card for online shopping at least...

I saw they're going to be implementing a new password system soon... I found it quite easy to use, but it seems others here don't share my views :p

Does anyone know if you can use the Qantas Cash card in an Australia post EFTPOS machine to make a payment and not get charged any additional fee?
Being it is loaded with funds for payment!

So I contacted Qantas Cash and asked if I could Post Bill pay and informed yes.
I went to post office and only given two options on EFTPOS machine "Savings" and "Cheque"
Both declined transaction and contact bank.
I contacted Qantas cash who said try "Cheque"
Declined.
I contacted Australia Post and after 15minutes they said contact Qantas Cash as their problem not ours......
So back to Qantas Cash....who have said because the "credit" option does not come up cannot use card!

Is this an XS Card block issue?
Qantas Cash Website says we are not a Debit or Credit card....what is it then?

Pay the bill online.
Yes, forgoing the bonus points.
Edit: its a prepaid card, this might be the problem (paying bills at Aust Post) wise.
Buying by Paywave/Paypass with Aust Post, no problem with my many cards.
Its only when it comes to paying bills at Aust Post, that hiccups can come up.
According to the blurb on here, its not a Credit Card, its not a Debit Card either.

Aust Post billpay will only recognise CC or DC which QCC is neither.

So with a Australia post bill payment can you pay part via Paypass ie. $100 swipes each time?
Will it incur credit card fee?

Judging from the run around you received it is clear that Qantas Cash are not sure what sort of card it is either. It's certainly not a credit card.

I have just read the Choice Magazine Dec 2014/Jan 2015 issue and they have reviewed what they call "Plastic Fantastic" - the travel money cards. It's a simple summary of the features and pros and cons of a few cards including Velocity Global and Qantas Cash. That do not make recommendations but do point out less attractive features. I note they could not find the exchange rates on either The Qantas Cash or the Velocity site and rang Qantas Cash and they say "20 mins later we finally found what we were looking for". After the usual wait on the customer service phone line.

Didn't take me long to find "Currencies" under the "Why Qantas Cash?" tab: Buy Foreign Currency | Multi Currency Card | Qantas Cash

Additionally, those are the same rates I see when I log in, displayed on the right.

Are they blind?

They did not have a registration (or a card) so could not log in. They were looking as potential customers. They were clearly expecting an "Exchange Rates" tab and could not locate it so called customer service. The purpose of my post was not to criticise Choice but to emphsise the delay in getting through for even the simplest enquiry. It should be enough to put any potential customer off until QC have a direct number, rather than a caller spending 3 minutes going through Qantas options before even being transferred to Qantas Cash queue.
