Qantas Cash Card

re: Qantas Cash Card

I think it's a great card... If you can get your money to load in time. The first load took four business days through Poli (which I think is RIDICULOUS) and the second ended up taking SIX business days. It was completely unreliable, so for the rest of the holiday I just didn't use it and copped the fees for using my c'card when I needed it.

i think it works if you have a large lump-sum to load, but if like me you planned to put a section aside of each pay while you were away (annual leave) - then it's not the best. I spoke to a couple of other friends and the experience was identical. But I'll use it for New Zealand in July, and I'll do a lump-sum deposit.

Totally agree here.
Was told that the delay was because it was 'done manually'.
More like Qantas plays the short term money market with our cash just like banks do.

re: Qantas Cash Card

In spite of a determination NOT to do so, I just realized and checked that I had left about A$10 left on the card, which unless I make the effort to unload it, will remain there until I travel next.

ker-ching for Qantas and Bendigo bank, who get to play with it, and the similarly lazy contributions from hundreds of thousands of other card users.

Coles or Woolworths Self Checkout "split payment" button is the answer. $10.xx and pay on Qantas cash. Pay the rest in another way.

Ps it is Heritage Bank.

re: Qantas Cash Card

I only have the card for the chip reader, not bothering to spend on it...

Have got other choices to spend with....

re: Qantas Cash Card

After 12 months!

Only if there is a balance on the card.

So, rather than letting Qantas steal your remaining cents, buy something cheap from Coles, dump in some coins and use the card to pay residual amounts ending in 3/4/8/9c.

As transaction values appear to be rounded up you should earn 1 QFF point for any spending between 1c and $2, and you save up to 2c on rounding!!

re: Qantas Cash Card

Oh really? I was unaware of this. I'll have to remember to deactivate it after I use up all the remaining funds. Thanks for the info.

No fee if the balance is zero, so just empty it. No need to cancel. Read your T&Cs

re: Qantas Cash Card

For anyone wondering, when moving up a level you keep the card number, expiry moves up a year, CVV changes and PIN is kept.

re: Qantas Cash Card

Looks like the last of the bonus points for December have now come through.

re: Qantas Cash Card

I would suggest that the best use is as a coaster, along with most of the other travel money cards. I got the OzForex card and after using it once have abandoned it with a few cents left on it. They are just to annoying to use.

Some months ago, I swapped to Citi for fee free cash withdrawals abroad and have a Bankwest Platinum credit card which is also fee free abroad.

hmm... I loaded the $250 and withdrew it a couple of days later just prior to Christmas. no points showing anywhere yet... I guess the 8 wks hasn't passed yet, but thought it would be much quicker!

How did you withdraw it?

In regards to the bonus points for loading the card, did you need to spend with it too perhaps?

Looks like the last of the bonus points for December have now come through.

Thanks for the reminder to check... very happy with the additional points! :D

re: Qantas Cash Card

I've received the double points for local spending in December.

But not the bonus for loading $250. However, some of the transactions when I spent the $250 did not post until January.

re: Qantas Cash Card

I cannot for the life of me workout the load wait and why, did a POLI load on Monday from one financial institution and a BPAY from AF CU immediately after, BPAY cleared an hour ago, go figure!

re: Qantas Cash Card

bpay was 1 day faster than poli from both anz and nab.

re: Qantas Cash Card

Forget POLI then.

Although certainly with St.George all POLI does is create a new merchant and then pay via BPAy, its just that some merchants, accept a POLI authorisation as immediate payment.

re: Qantas Cash Card

Has anyone used the card for tax transactions?
Obviously being a prepaid card makes the whole deduction of the surcharge easier to justify

re: Qantas Cash Card

Good question. I've thought about using this card if my other cc fails to register points. This would also be easier to claim the surcharge as a tax deduction right?
