Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

I've been wondering about this too. Have to fly to MEL or SYD the night before, otherwise won't make it in time.

However in the T&C of chauffer drive is this one (my bolding):

So will they interpret 'connecting' as in same day, or <24 hours? I'm expecting the latter, else its meaningless to offer in places such as ADL, PER, HBA etc.

Also I think you will only be able to get it in either BNE OR SYD. Othwise it becomes 2 services for the same flight which would be stretching it I think.

Just an update I rang the preium desk for some help on this one the guy wasnt sure so said to book it and if i needed to change it (as I live on GC so will fly from GC if i dont get free transfer to BNE) and if I couldnt get it they would change the ticket for me. Logged into the emirates website with my booking reference and it only has an option for the sydney pick up :( not to worry at least we know now, now I have to change the fligth from BNE to OOL hopefully no charge.

Hmmm wonder if the QF system works differently. QF 93 to LAX departs MEL at 9:15am and is one of the qualifying journeys after June 30. You can't connect to that from PER unless you get the red eye; from other ports you arrive about 1 to 1.5 hours prior to the international departure. I never cut it this close and always go the day before and hotel overnight. While i might elect to do the hotel to airport service, if they are saying the prior day flights don't qualify, then I'm not impressed.

Not sure how you would word the service to accommodate this, but "depart regional port within 24 hours of international departure" or similar should cover. Its probably cheaper for them to provide the service in regional areas compared to SYD and MEl anyway.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Just a quick update, I've posted a long trip report on my flight to Europe via Dubai under the "Trip Reports" section. It includes my experiences with Chauffeur Drive and DubaiConnect :-)

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

It appears you are only eligible for a domestic connection transfer if the international leg is on a qualifying QF flight number. I have a j seat on EK412 DXB-SYD then connecting to QF SYD-BNE Emirates are happy to pick me up from sydney not interested in BNE and Qantas advised I didn't qualify for anything with them and I have to talk to Emirates, bit annoying really as I have a transfer in DXB and SYD that I can't use. As its a classic award probably cant change the flight to fly to OOL as that's my final destination without being hit up for a fee!!

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Chauffeur Drive under MMB says I am not eligible for my 30 April QF9 MEL-DXB-LHR?

This is on a sale fare (I class).

Has anyone else had success with sale fares?

Yup, no problems for either I class or U class bookings for me

Re: Just booked on one of the first QF services through Dubai and lots of questions r

Sorry, lateish to thread but did read this in linked document

"Yes, subject to flight availability. There are still ways to travel between Australia and Europe that do not require transiting via Dubai. Qantas will continue to fly directly
from Australia to Singapore and onwards to Helsinki with our codeshare partner,
Finnair (AY), and then connect to Finnair flights from Helsinki to London, Frankfurt,
Paris, Amsterdam and Rome.

Qantas remains a committed member of the oneworld alliance which means for those
customers on multi-destination tickets, oneworld fare products to the UK/Europe are
best with travel options via Africa and Asia."

Seems BA and CX don't rate mentions.
Given CX offers one stop connections to a range of destinations things must be quite frosty between OneWorld members at times

No mention as they are not codeshare partners anymore. AY is.

just an update... I rang QF this morning and they couldn't understand why I ws getting an "ineligble" message through MMB.

I did check the T&C before ringing and couldn't see anything that would have excluded me.

The guy on the phone did say that there had been a few teething issues.

Anyway, now all booked over the phone :)

No problems with I class via MMB for me ~ five cars booked for the one itinerary

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Update #2...

Just had a call from Qantas IT, who advised they are investigating why this couldn't be booked under MMB.

They again confirmed that this is booked for me for next week.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Just a little update

1) No question asked about another ineligible pax taking the same limo both by the phone operator confirming the booking and the driver;

2) If you're lucky, you may score an S-model Merc even as a J pax as this is based partly on the company car roster rather than strictly F ticket.

The reverse applies too; a F pax may land in a Volvo if they run out of Merc on the day.

That was explained to me by a driver with 10 years driving for Emirates.

I scored a Merc at AMS from a J ticket !

Yep, not just the roster, but also if the company is overbooked and doesn't have a car available, they send the job out (on an email/message system) to another company or driver (who has a similar limo/hire car-type mode of transport) - which could be anything from a Statesman, 300C, S class, 7 series, etc...

A few days ago, my VHA driver told me of a job he saw come up there and then for an EK J/F pax... Croydon to MEL. No one picked it up after some time, probably due to the location. Apparently if the pax is late and misses the flight due to a car not coming on time or not coming at all, then the company with the contract has to pay for the cost of the new ticket as the "fine".

Just received a nice surprise from Qantas advising they have now manually booked the pick up from BNE for my return trip. Very happy now, they didnt say why the change in heart but I wasnt going to question it.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Hello everyone,

I'm wondering if someone might be able to shed some light on my situation.

I'm currently booked from BNE to LHR via MEL (QF9) in Y. When I view my booking I have the ability to click onto the 'request / cancel' in the customise your journey section. When the page loads it shows that I'm eligible to book the chauffeur transfer to the airport in Brisbane for my first flight.

I thought that only passengers travelling with at least one of their international legs in J or F were eligible for the service? Has anyone travelling in Y had any experience in using the service without having any J or F legs?

Thanks!

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

very annoyed that this is not yet active for SYD-LAX flights

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Me too.
I can't understand why we have to wait until July 1 for chauffeur drive. I am heading to LA two times in the next 2 months. Be nice if they fast tracked it!!!:(

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

I will report later today if my chauffeur drive from BNE to home works.
It took a lot or phone calls to QF and another lot when I made the F lounge in April.
Fingers crossed.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Has anyone had any luck booking a chauffer drive for a connecting flight on a different (but linked) PNR? I will be flying a JASA SYD-xMEL-LHR later this year (no availability ex BNE), but will have a positioning flight BNE-SYD (still to be booked) on the morning of the flight. Hoping for a chauffer drive to avoid a cab fare approximating the BNE-SYD fare (in Y)! Same situation on return.
