I am not into political correctness (who ever thought of this should be shot) and we have been calling them birds for a long time. Don't mean any offence by the term.....should that be "young lady" walking around outside in the QF departure area?
Are you creating a new band based on dress standards or do you really mean to 'ban' them from the Qantas Lounges?....But, lMO; l would band singlets+thongs combo at QC's.
No need to wear a suit and smart casual is just as comfortable.I'm with you JohnK. I must be old fashioned but I love to travel dressed for the occasion. It is entirely possible to dress comfortably and well for a flight.
Sadly the singlet, shorts and thongs brigade have even hit Zone A on a 747 as witnessed by me last week, honestly people it isn't that hard.
I still don't get why people wear thongs on aircraft. Spillages (especially hot things), people stepping on toes, safety issues when evacuating etc.
And can someone please explain to me how any of these types of attire are more comfortable than smart casual attire?
- raggedy, ugly looking t-shirts rather a polo shirt? I prefer long sleeve casual/business shirt, but that's me
- ripped and torn jeans instead of nice clean jeans. Does not need to be designer jeans. I prefer slacks.
- any open style footwear. Leather slip-on shoes and runners are just as comfortable and much safer
- jean shorts (if you must) with loose thread hanging all over the place (like it has been ripped) as opposed to jean shorts with a nice well sown hem
When having long(ish) time in the lounge /airport it is a pleasure to sit and people watch people with smart casual attire. Even better when some of the attire actually looks classy rather than what some people believe is 'trendy'.
Anyway if there was a way I could keep my head down and not look then I would do it and avoid any sort of eye contact with people with no dress standards.
P.S sitting in ROK Lounge waiting for flight to MKY and everyone is here is dressed appropriately. A couple of guys with shorts and/or t-shirts but with proper footwear.
