Qantas Club Dress Standards...Stubbies, singlet and thongs....What the???

It does raise the question: who's to blame in that situation - you or her? (I have an undisclosed opinion on that).
It's never wise to judge a person by their looks.
Absolutely agree - but, by the same token, there is a time and place for everything.
This is the point that is lost by a lot of people.

No one has to wear their best clothes when travelling. T-shirt, shorts and thongs goes quite well at the beach. Nowhere else.

As I showed in my post earlier, for some people even t-shirt and jeans is not good enough so it's all a matter of perspective. You may judge some people's dress code as shocking while others may judge your dress code as shocking according to their own standards. Would you prefer if QF had a strict business attire dress code in the F lounge? I'm sure some would like that but I wouldn't.

Me neither. I would hate to have to wear business clothes to access the lounge before a holiday. I'm quite happy to be able to be there in jeans and a t-shirt, and if people don't like seeing me in jeans, they can avert their eyes - looking isn't compulsory!

Some people seem to think what other people wear affects them directly. I'm sure if they stopped and thought about it they'd realise the concept is absurd.

There needs to be a balance. Neat and tidy without being formal. And shoes! I've worn thongs in a domestic lounge (40 degree day when getting to the airport by train/bus) but I would never wear them in the F lounge.

That's correct, although I think long gone the days people are expected to wear their best clothes for the plane because flying these days is not exactly the expensive and exclusive experience once used to be.

Of course - and I am not in the slightest bit suggesting putting on 'best clothes'.

Not strict. No beachwear.

My dress code is conservative. People can judge me all they like. I dress the same at the beach as I do for golf.

I think we should all judge people less by their dress code and more by their behaviour.
So far I've seen more men in suits who behave like monkeys in the lounges then people who wear thongs (or walk barefoot) but I guess it's much easier to take photos of the latter...

Couldn't have said it better Rebbekap..... I just sit back and whinge about important things!! lol

There is only one solution, the lounge staff, cabin crew and flying crew should all wear singlets and thongs. The lowest common denominator is always the way the go!:p

Someone issue me a radio edit on this... Don't have enough popcorn to read 70 pages......

What's the consensus - not thongs when flying JQ??

Some people extend this concept to everything in life, its all about them, funnily enough they are frequently disappointed.

Well hopefully the new VR headsets Qantas are testing will have settings such as "White Tie", "Black Tie", "Smart Casual", "Beachwear" & "Nudist Colony" so we can all live in a virtual world where our delicate sensibilities are not offended.

All my travel is self funded personal travel. Until the airline in question publishes a policy specifically stating otherwise I will wear what I feel is comfortable. My last trip was to Singapore on BA in F, I spent time in the Sydney F lounge. I wore a T-Shirt, shorts and boat shoes.

There is a policy, it's simply not enforced (Post #1).
"10.7 Smart, casual dress standards apply at all times. Individual lounge managers will have discretion to administer these standards as they reasonably deem appropriate in the circumstances."

I am not telling you what to wear. I am not judging.

I am also allowed an opinion on what I see in front of me. Aussies are by far the worst dressers in my travels. The locals agree.

Doesn't matter what people wear but someone is always going to judge you.My upbringing was always to wear decent clothing. Now mrsdrron wouldn't let me out of the house unless properly dressed.
So last Sunday was upgraded to J and in Row 1 flying BNE-PER.Wore smart casual slacks, collared shirt and boat shoes. Those around me were all in shorts-even the women. So who got served first, the only one to be offerred an extra meal and asked if they wanted anything else to drink?Well it wasn't someone in shorts.
