I don't understand why there isn't a small sign requesting no feet on the bulkheads, it would have some effect and would also give crew a bit of standing in asking people exhibiting particularly gross behaviour as pictured above to desist. Also if the magazine holder was higher on the bulkhead people would at least keep their feet below it.

Because while having bare feet on anything is a bit gross, I honestly don't see the problem with clean socks on the bulkhead (and in fact do it myself whenever I am lucky enough to be seated in the bulkhead).

These are everywhere on trains ("no feet on facing seats") and they don't seem to have any effect, sadly.

On trains people are (usually) wearing shoes though - which is gross, because goodness knows what you've trodden in and are now leaving on the seats that everyone else sits on.

I was flying back from PER in J, the lounge had many WIWO, one sat next to me on the flight, I couldn't help but notice how grubby he was, his safety clothes were filthy and he stank, IMO it should not be allowed.

As a senior, like others here, one could write a book on todays clothing standards and also how we treated the older person in years gone by, these days its pretty well gone I'm sorry to say. Its about time airlines returned to some sort of dress decorum.

Some mining company's are now having their employees travel ready to start work or leave work towards the end of a shift..so it will get worse.

with the idea of the "no feet on..." signs... seriously?! You have to remind people of manners? I also figure if the mag holder was higher they'd just use those for their feet and prob break them.

Really in an ideal world we shouldn't need reminders for such things.. that's the sad state we are in.

It's like at my workplace a couple of years back signs appeared above the urinals "Flush after use" umm.. like duh?!

It depends how stupid you want to get with signs. The Qantas offices in Mascot used to have signs in the toilets by the hot taps on the sinks saying "Caution: hot water".

Of course there were the famous "no spitting" signs at Flinders Street station. Years ago my uncle had a sign on the gate to the pool that said, "we don't swim in your toilet so please don't piss in our pool". Sometimes you just need to remind people.

Given that some are disgusted with feet on bulkheads, you should be repulsed by this. Seen in the 1st lounge at LAX:

It just gets better and better in the LAX F Lounge, I am currently being entertained by a raging domestic behind me. A very pissed bogan female has just finished telling hubby? How awesome she is before telling him to F off in a very loud voice before storming into the ladies, where she promptly bailed up some random American lady and started to regale her with tales of domestic bliss, according to my wife.

i kinda think that sort of behaviour is a bit more offensive than merely dressing for comfort in the lounge.

I really don't care what other people wear as long as it is not offensive i.e. Offensive slogans, etc on their t shirts etc and as long as their personal hygiene is up to scratch. If they want to wear t shirts, thongs and shorts, so what?

Got to go, WWIII is erupting behind me again, can't here myself type.

On an etihad flight to Perth recently. Business class boarded first, whilst settling in to my seat the bloke in from of me went to use the toilet, I didn't pay too much attention until I heard the FA say sorry sir these toilets are for business class, I didn't hear his response but he then used toilet.

Only when we went deplane in Perth did I release the young guy was heavily tattooed, was wearing only a navy blue singlet as a top, and had a mullet 90's bogans would have proud of.

Hmmm... that's like the time I was in t-shirt, shorts and thongs heading to the VA premium check-in. The first thing the agent said was that the counter was for business/gold/plat. I said, 'I know. I'm in business'. Her face then went red right away...

It does raise the question: who's to blame in that situation - you or her? (I have an undisclosed opinion on that).

It's never wise to judge a person by their looks. Once I was standing in the premium boarding queue in FRA wearing t-shirt, jeans and carrying a backpack. Behind me were an old geezer and his wife both dressed very fancy. All of a sudden he taps on my shoulder and says, "excuse me sir, this line is for First and Business only". I turned back and said, "I know, I'm in First (showing him my 1A BP) and you two?". They were not ;)

Absolutely agree - but, by the same token, there is a time and place for everything.

That's correct, although I think long gone the days people are expected to wear their best clothes for the plane because flying these days is not exactly the expensive and exclusive experience once used to be.
