Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Continuing with 2 December, QF534 (1230 hours SYD up to BNE, B738 VH-VZX) took off at 1318 on runway 25 so arrival is expected at 1332, 32 late.

QF19 (A332 VH-EBM), the 1225 hours lunchtime SYD - MNL was off blocks at 1336. It took off at 1402 hours with arrival likely at 1841, 66 late.

The 1350 hours SYD - CGK, QF41, was off blocks at 1445 with A332 VH-EBB. Arrival is estimated at 1805 but may be later as the plane has yet to join the queue for a runway 25 departure.

Additionally on 2 December 2018, QF577 (A333 VH-QPH, the 1410 hours SYD across to PER that was airborne at 1501) should arrive at 1636 this afternoon, 31 late.

QF6127 may be a positioning flight from MEL to SYD for B738 VH-XZP. Its scheduled 1315 hours departure contrasted with takeoff at 1454. Arrival should be at 1615 hours, 95 late.

Where are you?

2 SYD-BNE flights cancelled but the 4:30pm still hasn't boarded. Going to be a rush to get there for last T-Bus to DFO at 5:50pm.

Pushka, many thanks.

Winds only appear to be gusting to 43kmh at Sydney Airport. Is part of the reason for the cancellations that runway 25 use means single runway ops and hence numerous delays at the busy time of late Sunday arvo and Sunday evening?

Cancellations include QF447, the 1600 hours SYD down to MEL. QF540 (1700 hours SYD up to BNE) has got the flick, as has QF548, the 1900 ex SYD.

QF562 (1630 hours SYD - BNE, B738 VH-XZP) is predicted to depart 35 late.

The 1820 hours SYD - OOL, QF868 is forecast to depart 40 late. QF743 (1840 SYD across to ADL) should be half an hour late in pushing back.

Many other flights are supposedly to be delayed 10 to 25 minutes in departing SYD but previous similar arvos and nights suggest that the delays will in many cases turn out to be longer.

Due to the delayed QF63 yesterday, the 2 December arrival of JNB - SYD QF64 (B744 VH-OJU) is delayed until about 1759 hours, 144 minutes late.

Earlier, QF107, the 1335 hours afternoon SYD up to PEK pushed back at 1401 hours so arrival is claimed as 2250 tonight, 35 late, slightly delaying departure of redeye QF108.

VH-VXR on the PER across to SYD QF580 should be at its destination gate at roughly 1912, 32 late.

Still haven't pushed back. Apparently aircraft arrived with some "glitch" that had to be checked out by engineering and all is ok to go. Eventually. At least shadow in row 6 has stuck again....
And still haven't pushed back. Have wasted the last 20-25 minutes with engineering paperwork. :(

By 1735, SYD had reverted to using the north south runways so that may mitigate delays. Too late, though, for anyone on cancelled flights.

Melbourne. They said they’d lost their slots.

Also on Sunday 2 December, QF541 (1505 hours BNE down to SYD, B738 VH-VZC that was in the sky at 1619, about an hour late) is arriving at 1836, 51 late.

The LDH - SYD QF2265 has Q200 VH-TQG and looks to be arriving at about 1844, 59 late.

QF2117, a larger Q400 turboprop (VH-QOJ) is the 1720 hours from CFS to SYD that took off at 1814, so estimated arrival has become 1923, 48 late.

Poor old (* may be neither) JohnK took off from SYD on QF562 at 1748 with arrival of B738 VH-XZP in BNE suggested as 1802 hours, 62 late.
Just arrived at gate. A 1 hour delay for a simple issue that wasn't an issue. Quite a few missed connections. Hervey Bay was one mentioned. Looks like overnight in BNE for those.

Interesting that we arrived at gate 22 and that gate is QF563 to SYD but crew are going to TSV which is not until 7:55pm.

What a shemozzle.

JohnK, you're there and I'm not, but out of interest how do you know it was a '...simple issue that wasn't an issue?'

QF631 (2 December, the 1710 hours BNE - MEL with B738 VH-XZM) was airborne at 1755. Resultant arrival is an estimated 2105 mid evening,35 late.

Crew onboard mentioned it and just overheard crew at gate waiting to get on QF563 mention same thing. I'm not sure what gave false readings but these were checked and cleared at 5:00pm as advised by captain and then engineering paperwork arrived 20 minutes later as I posted but engineering went away and came back again and all clear at 5:30pm but then wait for a slot to take off.

Can't understand why the 5:55pm to HVB couldn't wait as there were connecting passengers. What's the rush? Does that aircraft need to return to BNE tonight? Curfew in play?

QF869 (2 Decermber, the 1925 hours OOL - SYD in the air at 2039 with VH-VZC) is arriving at about 2251, 56 late, so a fairly close call to teh 2300 hours landing curfew.

The SYD across to PER QF584 has A333 VH-QPG and should arrive at 2249, 59 minutes behind.

The Sunday evening 2 December 2018 QF30 (1900 hours HKG - MEL, A333 VH-QPD) did not become airborne until 2200. On Monday 3, arrival is forecast as 0939 hours, 129 late. This aircraft looks to be returning to HKG on QF29, the scheduled 0945 hours that is displaying as an amended 1050 hours departure with absolute minimum turnaround time in Melbourne. My guess is 1100 or later will be departure time, meaning about a 50 minute late arrival in Hong Kong at 1705.

QF20 MNL-SYD (VH-EBM) did not depart until 21 05, 70 late. It landed at 7 47, 47 behind schedule.
QF130 PVG-SYD (VH-EBS) left at 22 28, 59 behind. Arrival is suggested at 11 28, 103 late.

There may be a typo there: should be QF130.

In any case, this is delaying QF23, the notoriously unpunctual 1030 hours SYD - BKK that has been altered to push back at 1255, meaning arrival at an estimated 1820 hours, 130 minutes late. QF24 is displaying as only delayed in its departure until 1840, half an hour late but it is not possible to turn an A333 around in 20 minutes so a more likely pushback is 1930 BKK time or later.

QF94 from LAX to MEL (A388 VH-OQJ) is arriving on Monday 3 at 1031, 41 late. The 1220 hours MEL to SIN (QF35) should only be marginally delayed.

The 0930 hours SYD down to MEL, QF421 (A332 VH-EBM) took off at 1016 with arrival suggested as 1139, 34 late.
