Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF 662 ADL to BNE delayed 45 mins now estimated to depart at 11am. Somewhat amusing that I got a text from Qantas about delay at least 20 mins before flight boards at airport were changed and lounge announcement of delay made.

Sunday 13th of October sees QF436 MEL.SYD (B738 VH-VYF) with a revised arrival at 16 57, 122 min late.
QF685 MEL-ADL (B738 VH-VYL) has a suggested arrival at 16 27, 132 min behind.
QF620 MEL-BNE (B738 -VXQ) is predicited to arrive at 16 39, 79 min tardy.
B738 VH-XZB has been delayed since early, initially as QF133 MEL-CHC which had a late arrival at 15 07, 92 behind. The return leg as QF132 CHC-MEL is now suggested to arrive at 17 58, 108 min tardy.
QF703 CNS-MEL (A332 VH-EBD) has a predicted arrival at 18 14, 74 min behind schedule.

QF93 now has a further revised departure at 17 00 hours.

To further add to the A388's headaches for the day, QF7 SYD-DFW (A388 VH-OQC) is just airborne and has a suggested arrival at 15 19, 120 min tardy. This was a result of the delayed arrival of QF2.

Also a few cancellations on MEL-SYD and SYD-MEL in both QF and VA.

The expected delay to the Sunday 13 October QF93 has blown out to an expected 1930 hours pushback in MEL with LAX arrival at 1530 hours, 545 minutes late.

This is due to QF36 arriving at 1250 hours, 375 late but there must be further problems apart from what Silvia posted above. Perhaps a further new crew has to be requisitioned.

The overnight delayed QF25 departed SYD at 1308 with HND arrival suggested as 2025 hours, 790 minutes tardy. QF61 from BNE and QF79 ex MEL should have similar arrivals in NRT at 1957 and 2030, respectively 122 and 115 minutes late. These Japanese airports are rarely quiet but if at all possible will be busier than usual with the flight and passenger backlog from the typhoon.

Stores (supply) is closed at the weekend. Your requisition will be attended to within 2 working days.

What was the planned departure time (after the QF36 delay was factored in)? The crew would probably have about five hours available beyond that. The flight over is appreciably shorter than the return, so there’s more leeway.

The originally proposed departure time was 1520 hours according to Silvia's post above.

A388 VH-OQA took off from MEL at 2002 hours, about 570 minutes late.

Tuesday 15 October's QF9, the 1615 hours MEL - PER took off almost three hours late at 1916 hours. B789 VH-ZNA is therefore delayed on the much longer second sector to London, haing taken off last night at 2124. Arrival should be 0745 hours on Wednesday 16, 160 minutes tardy. This flight is mostly punctual and at times has arrived LHR an hour or more early.

QF81, the Wednesday 1115 hours SYD to SIN is estimated to push back 35 late with arrival half an hour behind at 1720.

The 1220 hours SYD to PER QF577 has A332 VH-EBC taking off at1216 so arrival should be at 1510 mid afternoon, 45 late.

Later on 16 October, QF833, the 1805 hours CBR - MEL (B738 VH-VXU) was in the sky at 1839, so arrival has become 1948, 33 late.

Later on 16 October, the 1915 hours SYD to HNL longish flight pushed back 61 late with same day arrival slated for 0857, 57 minutes behind the schedule. This will marginally delay QF4.

SYD using single runway (E/W), so things are going slow. QF43 was similarly abt 25mins late, but they are getting away. Assume some cancellations though, as flights-per-hour quite restricted when down to 1 runway.

In more on Thursday 17 October, QF43, the afternoon 1620 hours SYD to DPS pushed back 19 minutes late but expected arrival is 49 late at 2035 mid evening, symptomatic of the delays to which OATEK refers.

Earlier, QF41 (1445 hours SYD up to busy CGK) was off blocks at 1512 for a delayed at gate arrival if 1930, 50 down.

Although the 1750 hours MEL -DPS B738, QF45 was only six minutes late departing, projected arrival at 2135 will be half an hour tardy. See Silvia's post above re single runway ops.

QF2, 8 and 12 were all OK timewise arriving in SYD on Friday 18 October. While I am unable to view the QF site (software bug), other sites suggest that QF11 on Friday, the 1035 hours morning SYD to LAX has been delayed to 2200 hours tonight. If an AFFer could confirm, that would be good. If so, QF12 ex LAX on Friday night should still be punctual provided the ex New York connection is not delayed, as the A388 has a very lengthy turnaround in Los Angeles.

On Thursday 17, B789 VH-ZNH on QF12, the 1810 hours JFK to LAX took off at 1817, so arrival is delayed to be 89 late at 2229. This will delay some Oz-bound flights.

QF27, the 1235 hours lunchtime SYD to SCL long haul B744 is estimated to depart 45 late with arrival a similar 40 late at 1145 hours, same day. This should not delay QF28 to any marked extent.

QF456 MEL-SYD due to depart at 1715, now 1735.

Interesting, especially if the delay builds, but usually I limit mention of delays to a minimum of half an hour - arrival at gate, not departure, as the former is what matters to travellers.

Unfortunately JessicaTam you are not alone in suffering delays on this route. Timekeeping is becoming steadily worse for all four majors.

QF11 has A388 VH-OQB that arrived on time this morning as QF12. 'The 11' took off a little while ago at 2229. LAX arrival should be at 1737 hours same day, 677 minutes late.

With so many AFF oracles in SYD at the function, does anyone know why it was delaye? Maintenance?

Well it mattered to me, because I was on it!
It arrived SYD 37 late at 1917, almost twice what you advised was the initial expected departure delay. Frustrating, and poor compared to the great punctuality and reliability of high speed rail on comparable routes overseas.
