Qantas Delays/Cancellations

This will likely delay departure time of tomorrow's QF7 SYF -DFW, as a 3 hour delay swallows up all the ground time at Sydney.
ZNI and ZNJ will be arriving tomorrow morning into SYD. There is no QF63, QF17, QF73 or QF5 tomorrow and the QF11 is a 388 so one of those may operate the QF7 instead.

Also on Saturday 10, A333 VH-QPI on the 1205 hours QF35 MEL to SIN took off at 1309 hours, so expected at gate arrival becomes 1902 hours, 47 late. It's unusual for this QFi flight to run late - one of the most punctual medium distance ones - but the fairly generous turnaround time should see QF36/QF82 (whichever one the aircraft comes back to Oz on) being timely.

B789 VH-ZNG on QF10 from PER should arrive 31 minutes late in MEL tonight, at 1911 hours.

QF9 (1515 hours mid afternoon MEL-PER-LHR) was displaying as pushing back at 1600 hours, but it was not visible on FR24 at 1622, often not a good sign (though sometimes there can be a benign reason such as buildings interference).

Earlier, QF145 (B738 VH-XZC), the 1115 hours late morning SYD-AKL was in the sky at 1338, arriving at 1821, 121 late.

Mile, do you mean 'QF75'? Hasn't QFi deferred its SYD-SFO flights either for a long time or indefintely as per Mattg's articles? I can't see that QF73 is an operable flight number.

Qantas Flight Status now has an amended departure of 16:30, but that time has also passed.

Point taken, I had overlooked the A380 operated QF11 - part of the transition to A380s on QF11 six days a week from Monday.
I note however that only one of ZNI and which ever B789 operates QF18, will be available, as one will operate the once weekly B789 QF435 SYD-MEL service, so that there is an extra B789 in Melbourne to operate the once weekly B789 QF95 MEL-LAX on Sunday afternoon.

Qantas Flight Status now has an amended departure of 16:30, but that time has also passed.

'The QF9' ex MEL: has since been delayed further to '1655 hours' but that time is also in the past. 1655 is 100 minutes late, so those waiting in PER will have more time in the QFi or gate lounge.

QF9's Saturday 10 September stay in PER was from 1853, 98 minutes late to takeoff at 2034, so expected Sunday 11 arrival at LHR's gate should be around the 0622 hours mark, which would be 77 late.

As B789 VH-ZND on the SYD-JNB QF63 arrived yesterday at 1747 hours, 132 minutes late, QF64, the scheduled 1735 hours ex JNB did not become airborne until 2020 hours mid evening local time. This afternoon, it should arrive in Sydney at approximately 1544, 134 late.

A332 VH-EBP on QF70 from DEL to MEL is estimated to arrive at its gate this arvo at 1340, 45 behind.

On Monday 12 September 2022, QF10 is arriving ex LHR in PER at an estimated 1211 hours, 31 late with B789 VH-ZNA.

A332 VH-EBL was displaying as 'on time' but this 0710 hours morning MEL-AKL that has a poor punctuality record had not taken off by 0752 hours.

Although on Sunday 11, QF5 (B789 VH-ZNE arrived at FCO's gate at 0822, 23 minutes early, trhe returning QF6 (the 1050 hours) unusually did not become airborne until 1210 hours, so PER arrival on Monday 12 looks to be about 0930 hours, 55 minutes late, meaning a probable delayed arrival in Sydney this afternoon, perhaps at about 1710 hours at a guess. Sydney Airport's gate numbers indicate that this aircraft is not forming either QF5 (the 1755 back to PER and FCO) or QF75 (2025 hours up to YVR) but this can change.

Yesterday four of us flew QF9 Melbourne to Perth and business class was quite ok with on time departure , nice staff and a good meal.

We were D for domestic so not going on to London.

Arrived at the Perth terminal and then waited almost an hour for our bags. Nowhere to sit in the baggage claim area and it spoilt the journey.

On which flights is QFi placing you, and on what day(s)? One hopes you're not delayed more than a few hours.
Just looking back thru this thread... I was on the flipside of that debaucle trying to get from DFW to ADL. Communication was abysmal and pretty non-existent (in part because the app would not let me load my temporary US number after I arrived there)... in a collective 7 flight changes/cancellations I literally received 2 emails and relied on repeatedly checking via the app if the next flight was happening or was changed again. The only thing QF did for me was put me up in Sydney overnight (because ADL has curfew) and there was no offer of how to manage being stuck in Dallas overnight (I had a place to stay but that's beside the point) nor airport transfer changes (eg: I was able to extend my hire car), nor any offer of recompense (similar to them canceling/changing my outbound 3 times... glad I paid more for minimal layover for naught)
Pretty cough, especially in light of their new PR voucher stunt... everyone gets $50 but inconvenienced travellers get squat.

This was in relation to the cancellation of QF7 (and QF8) on Friday 12 August 2022.

Continuing with Monday 12 September 2022, QF23, the 0950 hours nicely time4d midmorning SYD-BKK took off at 1132 despite aircraft A333 VH-QPA having overnighted in Sydney after having arrived as QF104 ex HNL. BKK arrival is predicted to be 73 minutes tardy at 1753 hours. Inevitably, the southeast bound QF24 (1810 hours) will suffer a delay.

QF63, 0935 hours SYD across to JNB took off at 1038 so its at gate arrival looks like around the 1624 hours, 44 minutes late, mark. It's operated by B789 VH-ZNH.

VH-ZND as QF11 (1015 hours SYD-LAX) was airborne at 1151, so expected arrival becomes 56 late at 0756 hours same day.

The A388 on QF1 (1555 hours SYD-SIN-LHR) is suggested this afternoon to be departing 35 late. If so, this time is capable of being made up by the time the LHR airport gate is reached tomorrow morning UK time.

Arrived at the Perth terminal and then waited almost an hour for our bags. Nowhere to sit in the baggage claim area and it spoilt the journey.

Airports give possible delay-affected younger crowds waiting for bags priority, and that means standing as close as possible to carousels not being seated

However it's incongruous with the ageing of the population that some seats a suitable distance away, without 100 per cent sacrificing visibility, aren't typically provided. A bit rich to expect many over 75 to stand for an hour. Tiring.

QF1 (A388 VH-OQB) on Monday 12 took off from SYD at 1656 hours with SIN arrival estimated as 2246, 31 late.

As it turned out, B789 VH-ZNE on QF6 was in PER from 0858 (23 late) to takeoff at 1043, so SYD arrival was only five minutes behind at 1610 hours.

B789 VH-ZNA, operating the 11/9/22 QF10 LHR-PER landed on time in the West at 1135 local time, however an apparent technical issue has delayed the aircraft departing as the onward QF 10 to MEL.
The current revised ETD is 1640 AWST, 3 1/2 hours behind schedule, with ETA MEL 2230 AEST.
The aircraft is due to operate tonight’s QF93 MEL LAX; ETD currently pushed back from 2110 to 2250 AEST, but obviously looking more like midnight at best.

Also on Monday 11, B738 VH-VZY on QF157 (1855 hours MEL-AKL) did not become airborne until 2008 hours so arrival in the largest population centre of Kiwiland (but not its capital) will be 0112 hours on Tuesday 13, 37 late.

To update flydoc's information above, QF10 took off from PER at 1758 so predicted MEL at gate arrival becomes 2303 hours, 263 minutes late. At a guess, QF93 might depart at approximately 0055 on Tuesday 13 if all goes well. No curfew in Melbourne, thankfully.

Indeed. Still on track for this - boarding due to commence at 0020.
Credit to the operating tech and cabin crew who will have had almost 4 extra hours added to their pre-departure awake timeframe.

Granted, they may still have been awake, but with c.three hours' notice of the delay (i.e. eventual departure time from PER), wouldn't those who live relatively close to MEL have been able to stay at home for longer, and potentially if desired lie down for a while with an adjusted, later required reporting time at the airport?

QF93 took off at 0115 hours with arrival in LAX suggested as 2220 hours on Monday 12 September, 230 minutes late.
