Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Meanwhile the QF28 SCL-SYD departures from Santiago continue to suffer delays, with Sunday's B789 VH-ZNI being 22 minutes late pushing back. Subsequent delays will see it into Sydney at 18:37 AEDT, 47 minutes late.

Monday : Sunday evenings QF94 LAX-MEL is shown with a one hour delay (22:05 PST), but that time has passed. The aircraft due to operate the flight B789 VH-ZNC, is shown on FR24 as still being in the LAX maintenance area. 20 minutes minimum to get to gate, 30 minutes minimum to load, so unlikely to get away for another hour at least. Points to a Melbourne arrival after 11:00 AEDT Tuesday

Showing as cancelled now.

With B789 VH-ZNF already in the air as QF9 from Perth, the delayed B789 VH-ZND has just taken off from FRA enroute to LHR as QF9D.

The thus further delayed QF10 was eventually in the air at 14:24 GMT/Z (as QF10D). Estimated arrival in Perth is now 18:31 AWST, just over 30 hours late.

Monday evenings QF94 LAX-MEL will operate, albeit with at least a posted 55 minute delay : B789 VH-ZNG having just arrived at the gate from the LAX maintenance area - 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

More troubles with US departures - Monday evenings QF22 DFW-MEL (B789 VH-ZNE) is showing a one hour delay.
This delay was cut back to 51 minutes, with the revised Melbourne ETA of 06:48 AEDT Wednesday, showing the delay slipping back out to 63 minutes late.

B789 VH-ZNB which arrived in Perth with the normal QF10, close to schedule at 12:33 AWST, is now positioning to Sydney as QF6010, in order to operate QF63 SYD-JNB tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile tonights QF9 PER-LHR passengers will have to await the arrival of ZND with the delayed QF10B, at about 19:00 AWST, before it turns around to operate their flight - currently posted as a 45 minute delay for a tight 20:05 AWST departure.

Edit : with tonight's QF7 SYD-DFW delayed until 22:00 AEDT, it appears that ZNH is unavailable, hence this delayed flight will be taken by ZNB, which is due in Sydney at 20:45 AEDT.

This flight got away 68 minutes late, however Qantas anticipates it will only be 30 minutes late into Sydney at 08:30 AEDT Wednesday. Depending on loadings, and Qantas' ability to move passengers to other airlines, for some passengers the delay will be more than 30 minutes.

I dont understand why it could not position as QF10 to MEL as per schedule, arriving there at 2025. Then either zip up to SYD before curfew or the next morning prior to the 0935 am QF63

Also there is no PER-MEL QF10 Tuesday to Thursday

Do we have an overview somewhere where all QF B789 are at the moment and which ones are tech, play catch-up game, position for a flight last minute or are on a D-flight. Seems that QFi on B789 is again a bit in disarray on multiple fronts.

K is the one with the 100 year anniversary livery
Um, no, J has the 100 anniversary livery, and at present is easiest to locate - in Singapore undergoing its delayed 3 yr heavy Maintenance - probably 10 days to go - will then be replaced by ZNK.

ZNC [LAX] & ZNH [SYD] seem to have possible maintenance issues. Of the other eight only two are dealing with delayed flights : ZNB (QF7) and ZND (QF9 PER-LHR sector)

As Melburnian1 has addressed a number of times, the issue with the Qantas B789 'network' is that there are 4 routes : PER-LHR, SYD-SCL, SYD-JNB & SYD-YVR where a delay at the overseas airport, whether crew or tech related, cannot be dealt with by a plane swap.

There is more scope with US flights into LAX & DFW being serviced from both SYD & MEL, but these are limited by the current reduced schedule, which will remain until ZNK has been to Singapore.
