Any reason why qf 82 is delayed to 0200 next day when the aircraft forming this arrives at SIN at 2100? It would only take 2 hours to turn it around

QF82 tonight will be formed by the aircraft arriving from MEL as QF37, which is also running late and only arriving at half past midnight.

Both the MEL and BNE A330 rotations out of SIN tonight are running late by about an hour but for reasons, they have decided that QF82 to SYD will cop the bigger 5-hour delay tonight (possibly because they may have transferred some of the pax onto the QF2), whereas QF38 formed by the aircraft that arrived as QF35 will run on-time.
 
B789 VH-ZNI on Friday 26 May's badly delayed QF63 from SYD arrived at JNB's allocated aircraft gate at 2148 hours, 338 minutes late. It then formed QF64, the 1740 hours airborne at 2346, with Saturday 27 SYD gate arrival suggested as 1906 hours, 341 minutes late. A few posts back, 789nerd quoted '1900' so it's not dissimilar.

'The 7' ex SYD today remains showing as an on-time departure at 1540 hours mid afternoon. 789nerd commented it would usually be formed by the arriving QF64.

B738 VH-XZK on the 1855 hours Friday night SYD-CHC QF139 had another late arrival at 0109 hours, 70 late this morning. This flight lacks consiustently good punctuality and is one to avoid if arriving at an hotel or family residence at 0230 is disliked.

A332 VH-EBL did as wenglock.mok suggested, with it arriving in SIN as QF37 at 0040 hours this morning, 160 minutes behind schedule, and then forming QF82, the 2030 hours mid evening Friday 26 SIN-SYD that was in the sky at 0258 hours (!) with arrival in the Australian mainland harbour city estimated today as 1208 hours, 343 minutes tardy.

Colleague EBS arrived SIN yesterday at 1958 hours, 188 minutes late on 'the 51 from BNE' and then became QF36 to MEL, the 2015 hours in the sky at 2204 for arrival on Saturday at 0641 hours, 61 late, so again, wenglock.mok was extremely accurate.

EBP on 'the 81' from SYD arrived SIN on Friday at 2057 hours, 222 minutes late and quickly formed QF52 to BNE, the 2105 hours airborne at 2238. It arrived in the Queensland capital this morning at 0728 hours, 48 late.

Friday 26's QF1 (A388 VH-OQH) arrived SIN at 2126 hours, four minutes early, but as is frequently the case overstayed, with the second sector taking off at 0236 hours on Saturday 27, so LHR arrival (local time) should be about 0907 hours, 152 minutes behind the timetable.

A388 VH-OQL was delayed on QF127 yesterday from SYD up to HKG, so this morning's QF128 came in at 0829 hours, 104 minutes behind schedule. QF127 is displaying as departing on time at 1015, a tad optimistic.

The A332 on the 0925 hours MEL-DEL QF69 is predicted to push back 35 late at 1000 hours.

On Friday 26 May, QF103 operated uneventfully from SYD to HNL, arriving (with the substantial time difference) at 0943 hours, a creditable 43 early. The weather seems benign but QF104's return (normally a 1200 'high noon' ex HNL) looks to have been delayed overnight to a proposed 0800 hours on Saturday 27, meaning approximate SYD arrival at 1440 on Sunday afternoon, 28 May 2023.

Tonight's 2040 hours SYD-HNL '103' is only showing as having a 10 minute delay. The 2020 hours SYD-HND Japan-bound QF25 is displaying as on time and is still allegedly an A333.

My brother was on last nights badly delayed QF82 ex SIN. Can you please explain to me what you mean by

Given this late operation of the SYD and BNE A332 flights to Singapore today, at least one departure tonight is likely to be tardy, given as dajop reminds us, one aircraft typically overnights at the latter.

I am trying to work out what aircraft formed ex SIN flights

wenglock.mok and yourself advised me

qf 51 ex bne formed qf 36 to mel
qf 81 ex syd formed qf52 to bne
qf 37 ex mel formed qf 82 to syd big delay
qf 35 ex mel formed qf 38 to mel ??????

Am i correct here?

Thanks: flyerqf is expert on the rotations, but you are correct.

The BNE, PER and SYD QFi schedules to/from SIN are in balance with each flight operating daily.

With MEL, QF35 is daily; QF36 returning is every night except Sundays. Northbound QF37 only operates on Friday to Sunday inclusive, but southbound QF38 runs Thursday to Sundays, so if I'm not mistaken, between Sunday and Thursday evenings, there's an A330 in Singapore. If my addled brain's logic is incorrect, please inform.
 
A388 VH-OQB on QF11, the 1020 hours SYD-LAX for Saturday 27 May was in the sky at 1206 hours so same day arrival becomes a suggested 0746 hours, 41 late.

Although another AFFer said the Sydney-Seoul 'newbies' QF87/88 are not doing well for loadings - why would one fly QFi if KE outclasses the 'Oz airline' - these are normally good for timeliness, but on 27 May, 'the 87' (0930 hours scheduled) was tardy, taking off at 1122 for froecast at gate arrival at 2036 hours, 71 behind.

A332 VH-EBN is operating QF67 (0905 hours SYD-BLR in the sky at an even 1000 hours) so claimed arrival is 1701 this afternoon local time, 41 minutes behind the schedule.

Colleague EBM must have been drafted for QF35, the 1200 'high noon' MEL-SYD as early this morning, it arrived MEL at 0624 hours, 16 minutes ahead of the timetable as QF40 overnight from relatively close CGK. It then ran empty ('ferried') to SYD as QF6116 ( or was this a special?), arriving at 0945, but came back as QF437, arriving MEL two minutes late at 1237. It has recently taken off on the aforemntioned QF35 at 1502 hours with gate arrival showing as 2048 hours, 168 late.

It appears that ZND which arrived in Sydney early this (Saturday) morning with QF8, will turn around and operate today's QF7.
Of the later Sydney departures, QF75 (scheduled departure 20:25) should be taken by ZNL (on-time with QF28 for 18:00 Arrival), and then QF73 (scheduled departure 21:55) by one of the two aircraft from the delayed flights ZNE (QF18 due 18:40) & ZNI (QF64 due 19:03).

Looks correct to me. Looks like they do some maintenance in SIN between Sunday to Thursday, but I am not certain of this. Although it’s not great utilitisation if the aircraft is just on the ground in SIN for 4 days a week.
 
Not only is today's QF104 arrival in SYD (ex HNL) delayed by 20 hours, but tomorrow night's (Sunday 28 May) SYD arrival is expected to be 12 hours late.

This route has absolutely abysmal timekeeping. It's super unusual for the flight to arrive in SYD of an evening less than half an hour late, and often it's well over an hour late.

Thank you! QF management loves outsourcing to foreigners, a point of angst with Oz-domiciled employees and unions, so no doubt they've done their sums.
 
B789 VH-ZNF on Friday 26 May's QF9 from PER to LHR was airborne at 2219 hours, with arrival on Saturday 27 becoming 0816 hours, 191 late. It had taken off from MEL on Friday at 1728, arriving PER at 1902, 107 late.
 
On Saturday 27 May, QF63 operated relatively unevntfully, with B789 VH-ZNG airborne at 1033 hours, arriving at 1642, 32 minutes tardy. However the return 1740 hours QF64 didn't take off until 1944, so on Sunday 28 (today), estimated SYD arrival is 81 late at 1446 hours mid afternoon.

The aircraft is displaying as forming QF7, the 1540 hours SYD up to DFW that is optimistically proposed to push back at 1620, 40 late.

Monday 29's QF11 (i.e. tomorrow's, the 1020 hours mid morning SYD-LAX) B789 is delayed until an estimated 1920 hours for an early evening departure, 540 minutes late with suggested LAX arrival at 1515 mid afternoon same day, 490 late.

A332 VH-EBQ arrived this morning in Sydney as QF82 from SIN, at 0617 hours, eight early but in forming the 0905 hours SYD up to BLR, QF67, it didn't become airborne until bang on 1000 hours. Estimated gate arrival in the Indian technology capital should be around 1719, 59 minutes behind the timetable.

A332 VH-EBA, the class leader, is on QF35, the 1200 'high noon' MEL-SIN that should depart half an hour late, in not long.

This afternoon's QF37 'second stringer' from MEL up to SIN has an A332 expected to push back at 1725 hours, 85 minutes tardy.

The overnight delayed QF104 from HNL to SYD (A333 VH-QPI) that was meant to depart HNL at 0800 hours yesterday (1440 minutes late) took off on Saturday morning at 0916 hours so SYD arrival on Sunday 28 becomes an estimated 1507 hours, 1227 minutes late.

Sunday's QF63 (B789 VH-ZNE) was 119 minutes late departing Sydney, with revised arrival in Jo'Burg 17:51 SAST, 91 minutes late. No onwards delay posted for the return QF64.

QF21 MEL-DFW (B789 VH-ZNB) was 101 minutes late departing Melbourne, with the revised Dallas arrival of 15:15 CST, 90 minutes late. With the delay to today's QF7 noted by Melburnian1 above, it is possible one or both the return flights from Dallas (QF22 & QF8) may be affected.

Edit : while Saturday's QF8 was only 15 minutes late pushing back at Dallas, that has dropped off to a 34 minute delay into Sydney on Monday morning.

On Sunday 28 May, QF7 has VH-ZNG that arrived in SYD at 1513 hours, 108 minutes late as QF64 all the way from JNB.

It's had a fast turnaround in SYD as it pushed back at about 1710 with the QF7 (due out at 1540 hours) on the extremely long flight to DFW. No rest for the wicked!

One always wonders with these speedy 'turns' after one lengthy flight with another one commencing how well difficult to reach areas such as carpet next to the windows are cleaned. I suspect the answer is either 'not well' or 'not at all'. Aircraft may be difficult equipment for coughroaches and mice to penetrate but if they did, there may be appetising morsels available where the vacuum cleaners tend not to reach.

On Sunday 28 May, QF127 (A333 VH-QPF, the 1015 hours SYD-HKG) took off at 1218 hours as the plane had arrived at 0936 hours (61 late) as QF88 from ICN. 'The 127' arrived Hong Kong at 1914 hours, 79 late with the redeye returning QF128 predicted to push back at 2045 this evening, 75 behind.

The 12 hours late QF104 from HNL to SYD (aircraft is QPA) took off at 0016 on Sunday morning so Monday arrival at gate should be about 0635 hours, 715 minute slate. The curfew restriction in Sydney may have meant that this plane is even later than it ought have been, depending on how much rest the crew had enjoyed in Hawaii.

B738 VH-XZI tonight from SYD up to AKL, the 1745 hours QF147, is a shocker that took off at 2047 with estimated gate arrival on Monday 29 likely at 0133, 163 minutes late.
 
Tonight's QF497 SYD-MEL has been delayed from 9pm to 10:35pm. Passengers have boarded, but it still has not taken off yet due to an Engineering issue.
 
For the fourth straight day QF63 SYD-JNB has departed late : 66 minutes today, for a revised Jo'burg arrival of 17:02 SAST, 52 minutes late.

Edit : since the three previous QF63 flight delays flowed through to the return QF64, that is now confirmed for today as well, with a 60 minute delay currently being shown, for a revised Sydney arrival of 14:25 AEST Tuesday.

With the aircraft being swapped between the routes, QF22 (B789 VH-ZNG) pushed back 24 minutes late, with revised Melbourne arrival of 05:56 AEST Tuesday, 31 minutes late. QF8 (B789 VH-ZNB) is showing a 30 minute delay for a 23:00 CST Dallas departure, holding through to Sydney for a 06:45 AEST Tuesday arrival.
