Qantas domestic economy meals

Complimentary alcohol being served at 1:15pm
This is expected, most flights are now from 12pm (with the exception of a few regional routes) and anything over 2.5 hours (like DRW-SIN) is anything departing after 9am.

QF2255, MGB-ADL on a Dash 8-300. Coconut plum slice. Was nice but not very plummy (and also had other fruit in it, and cocoa).

Only available drinks were regular coke, beer, wine, juice or water - no Coke no sugar 😢 I guess they ran out on the way down.

This is apparently "rainforest plum": Eugenia candolleana - Wikipedia

...which also appears odd as it says it is native to Brazil. I wonder if they meant to say or refer to Davidson plum?

In any case, according to the manufacturer's website, the plum is jammed before being incorporated in the said slice. Still, unsure how prominent the flavour of said plum comes through.

QF694, ADL-MEL.

This was marketed as a snack flight, the snack turned out to be this butter chicken puff. This was fine, little bit of a kick to it, but it was more soggy than puffy which was a bit disappointing (the cleaners probably disagree though!)

In happy news, Coke Zero was available on this flight.1000012111.jpg1000012112.jpg1000012114.jpg

I've had that before, and agree - not very puffy. Calling it a pie or maybe pocket might have fit the bill better.

I guess at the end of the day, toMAHto toMAYto, it's really about taste, especially in Economy.

MEL to ADL today.
Midday flight. Marked as snack.
Roast beef with chipotle bbq mustard mayo. Was a bit dry but “ok”, . Would’ve loved something hot like the pie I had flying syd last time but it’s better than nothing on a short flight.

Not too bad for a short flight, I'd be happy enough with a sandwich.

Still wondering what will be served on my 5-6pm MEL to BNE flight. 🤔 Something hot?

QF733 SYD-ADL, 28/03/24 - was offered a pumpkin and carrot frittata, but having had my fill of egg-based breakfasts on my incoming Emirates flight (something I'm not a huge fan of in the first place but all apparently Emirates can offer for breakfast in Economy, but that's a rant for another time and place), I instead opted for a far less time appropriate snack choice of a bag of soy cracker snack mix and a can of Coke No Sugar as I'd only managed about three hours of sleep on the flight from Dubai. Bottles of water were later offered. No photos alas, as I figured the snack mix was not particularly noteworthy.

QF2254, ADL-MGB, 29/03/24 - was offered a bottle of water, then a sandwich (well, two thirds of a sandwich, that's a neat cost cutting trick!) - from what I could see there was the chicken with spinach and tomato relish option which I had, and a cheese and something option - then had a can of Coke No Sugar. Apparently, there was a surplus of sandwiches as the crew came through and offered seconds (I declined) followed by little chocolate koalas were passed out for what I assume were Easter reasons, but looking at it now Happy Holidays could imply they were Christmas leftovers! ;)

6AM TSV-BNE flight was the pumpkin and carrot frittatas, which were quite nice. A little greasy on the fingers so if they aren’t offering cutlery, a napkin would have been nice.

Missed the immediate connecting flight due to a slight delay, which put me on:
11AM BNE-CBR. A lunchtime flight, but only a snack offering on this short flight and they went with a Kakadu plum chocolate slice rather than something savoury. Arrived 2pm due to the time zone difference, so missed lunch. Yes, I know: I should have brunched in the QC.

The Y food on the short runs had a solid pickup Nov-Jan but have gone back to worse than pre november I think. Notice all hot food gone back to 1700+ departures and the 'snacks' have got progressively worse with little to no rotation (In WA atleast)

Simmone Logue Beef sausage rolls
On every domestic flight this year I’ve taken the rice cracker snacks instead of these sort of hot meals. The only exception is an A330 BNE-SYD flight where the snack was a cold guac and chips snack.
