Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF782 BNE/CNS 10/7 10am departure

Still water pre departure
Choices: toasted sandwich or fried egg/bacon/hash brown

Even though toasted sandwich wasnt really toasted it tasted ok.
I do prefer Virgin domestic J where VA take your drink order and serve it while the hot meals are prepared

I kind of stopped taking photos of my QF catering as it's just been so bad that I've started eating before the flight and then just relaxing onboard.

Here's a couple of recent examples to illustrate this:

QF128 HKG-SYD 10/6 (Dinner)

A beef dish. This one was sent back.

QF437 SYD-MEL 7/7 (Lunch)

Only vegetarian choices onboard - a choice of a pumpkin tortellini or a lentil soup.

This was sent back also. Clearly from frozen - the Latina Fresh packets at the supermarket taste better.

QF458 MEL-SYD 8/7 (Dinner)

The first choice was some salad, or the alternative was a chicken curry with naan bread. This was actually surprisingly nice.

Sadly on the two occasions I've sent back or not eaten a meal, and given clear feedback, I've seen that same meal several times across multiple menu rotations. The one time I particularly praised a dish (larb chicken) - never it seen again.

Agree with others' comments here that VA is beating QF catering hands down at the moment. Maybe I'm still finding the food on VA new and different, and eventually will tire of it too.

Possibly, however I think there’s a difference between tiring of the menu rotation and being disappointed in the basic quality of food presented.

True. For me it's a bit of both. On a recent AKL-SYD QF flight in J the main I had (fish) was terribly prepared - half of it fridge cold, half steaming hot. Basically ruined what was a nice enough, albeit bland, dish.

QF626 MEL-BNE 12/7/18 1600 departure (snack flight)

***note: this was a B789 operating a domestic flight. Has anyone started a petition to keep these birds on MEL/BNE ops yet?***

No PDB for me... I think they just missed me

Pork Belly or a soup was served:

It was just ok. Pork a bit dry...

PER > BNE 11.05pm Wed 18 July, supper and breakfast. Ate in the J lounge before so didn’t have supper.... the apple & rhubarb muffin was a disgrace to apple & rhubarb muffins. By the way, this was the red eye so was allowed entry into J lounge AFTER the flight to freshen up.

Does anyone know when the onboard menu's will change as it looks like the same food has been on the menu's for months now?

OK here was last night's flight... SYD > PER depart 5.35pm so DINNER served. GOOD NEWS! I was served roasted almonds before the meal! Not a pretzel in sight. Happy days. The pea soup was lovely, the soups normally are. The chicken was great but BE WARNED very spicy. For dessert, I really wanted ice cream as the spiciness lingered for too long... but the Maggie Beer icecream was affogato and I loathe coffee. So I took the meringue and it was just too sweet! Even the blueberries were swimming in sugar. It really clashed with the spicy chicken and I felt a bit nauseous for the rest of the flight.

There's no special extra meal selection available. I must admit the VA in flight options for this sector appear more appealing.

Have they stopped having an extra meal selection online now? I just assumed because my Jakarta flight was a shortish flight they didnt have it.

Interesting that the option of an online-exclusive meal has quietly gone away.

Also flew on Skippy last week in J. Water or bubbly... water for PDB
leg 1: chicken/swiss/tomato toasted sanga.. meh
leg 2: nasi goreng with fried egg.. it was better than the sambo(not hard) but fairly bland.

usual domestic setup even with the fancy plane (as expected).

white wine offering was a Chardy. passed as I'm not a fan

I had the bloody Grant Burge and regretted it. such swill.

Upcoming QF127 flight SYD/HKG menu next week.

Any recommendations?

I am flying QF127 soon and chose the Barramundi. My assumption is it is very difficult to stuff that up!

Eating in F on the A380 will hopefully make it taste better :D
