Qantas double SCs

Re: Qantas Double Status credits

Just about to book. Had been deferring, hoping for a decent JASA but time marches on. Would probably have flown the return leg LHR-MEL on 2 July but now looking at skipping out earlier to take advantage of the offer.

Nothing that I have found specifies a time zone provision - but if anyone has seen that detail, it would be very helpful to know before finalizing bookings.

At this stage, given Red Roo's advice, I would be fairly confident of booking an LHR-SIN-MEL, departing LHR on 30 June, all on one flight number. If a change of number out of SIN, I think the LHR departure would need to be earlier.

correct. all on one flight number is ok. Different flight number, departing after the period, will not qualify.

Re: Qantas Double Status credits

I have done some 3K HKG-SIN flights, and I can confirm that points and SCs are credited in the way suggested by the above posts.

Re: Qantas Double Status credits

I’m now looking into a JASA to capitalise!

And if I can borrow some points from family I might just have WP in the bag by next month, but trying to decide if I want the challenge of still flying or not :p

Red Roo.

Question:
In relation to refund vouchers, if we use them to book new flights, will they count towards the promotion? (provided the flights are within the period and meet the other rules etc)

Example.
I had a $150 voucher from a cancelled flight a couple of months ago. I book a flight where I use that and pay another $150 towards the flight.
Given the voucher has a booking reference and a date which has past and is not applicable to the special, will this credit double SC?

cheers in advance!

In the past members have not received double when they’ve used a voucher with an old PNR.

It’s not very fair.

Technically a booking is always the original date, with subsequent changes just that, so while you may have cancelled and then rebooked on a new flight, your booking reference still has the original date as thats the date it was ticketed. The promotion is to get new revenue, not recycle old.

Re: Qantas Double Status credits

I received the QF double SC offer...

Does anyone know if AA codeshares will count during the double SC eligibility period? (Sorry, probably a novice question).

(And if question above is not totally absurd, whats the easiest way to find out which AA flights are QF codeshares? OneWorld timetable?)

"Fly on any eligible* Qantas International or Domestic flight (i.e. with a QF flight number on your ticket where Status credits are normally earned)

Am I correct in referencing the following 'eligible flights' page from Qantas?

Re: Qantas double status credits promotion

I have flights booked every weekend between now and the end of September yet I get normal SCs and anyone who books now get double SCs. Makes no sense. Why wouldn't all flights in the promotion period count?

Because this is a promotion to bring in new bookings, not reward existing bookings.

No different to all the sign-up promo offers for credit cards etc. They are not designed to reward existing customers for their loyalty, but to get new customers/revenue in the door.

My reading is that is has to be an eligible Qantas flight. If you read the example in brackets in total it says a QF flight number. (I've underlined in my quote above) In that case an AA codeshare I would expect to have an AA flight number and hence not be eligible. You might have a better chance with a QF codeshare on AA, but I'm pretty sure that you can only book those in North America if the flight connects to an international flight (possibly to Australia).

So if you need to get to Oz outside the promotion period, I guess you could book a QF codeshare flight on AA metal in the promotion period and then include a stopover before your flight to Oz. Anyway, I not very certain about this, hopefully someone will be able to give you a more definite answer.

I believe that too.

If you used a voucher but added more new revenue than old you’d think that overall it’d be new though ;)

Although that wasn’t given in the example above.

Very unlikely for the new revenue to be significant, ironically I am flying tomorrow on a credit that I booked a couple of days ago so no extra SCs for me.

Re: Qantas Double Status credits

No double SC offer here, again.
Would kill to know how the criteria for being targeted.

Re: Qantas Double Status credits

Already had 240 SCs booked during the offer period , but so happens I had some time off work, so have booked a JASA - and will visit a friend in CBR.

BNE-SYD-CBR (overnight)-SYD-ADL-SYD-CBR (overnight)-SYD-BNE. 61K points (net) +$507.00 for 720 Status Credits. And a brief visit to the SYD Flounge and QF81 to ADL.

Now I just need to tell Mrs Aus ATC!

Re: Qantas Double Status credits

My 78 old father was the only person in my family to receive the offer! He has even not even been on a plane for 7 years but gets the Double SC offer! Baffling!

Perhaps to encourage him to travel!

May be a silly question, but double SC is earned on all flights even if you buy a return flight originating in Asia ? Not just ones with origin of Aus?

It says for any eligible flight with a QF number. So it should be ok. Nothing in the T & C's that it says you have to start the flight in OZ.

The offer is only valid for the recipient of this email for new bookings made between 1 April and 30 June 2012, for Domestic travel commenced between 1 April and 30 June 2012 and International travel commenced between 1 April and 30 June 2012 or 1 August and 31 August 2012. You must register for this offer via the above registration link in the main text area of this email by 30 June 2012 to be eligible for this offer. This offer applies to travel taken by the recipient of this email only (regardless of other passengers in the same booking), and is not transferable. Travel is subject to availability and any applicable fare conditions. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other Status credit offer by Qantas per each individual segment of your itinerary. Bonus Status credits may take up to 6 weeks after completion of your travel to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

* An eligible flight for the purposes of this promotion means any flight with a QF flight number on the ticket where Status credits are normally earned. Status credits may not be earned on some fare types and booking classes including Classic Award flights and Qantas codeshare flights (i.e. with a QF flight number on the ticket) operated by Jetstar or Jetstar Asia other than in Economy booking classes Y, B, H, K, and L (when booked as part of a oneworld fare). Qantas Segments booked in X, U, Z or P classes are eligible to earn Points and Status credits only when booked as part of a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award.
