I become PS on Monday for the first time. I might hold off booking until then just in case it makes me eligible.

Re: Qantas Double Status credits

Hi All,

Pleased that some of you are excited about the new double Status credit promotion. I thought a post was in order to address a few of the comments and questions, so here goes:

Red Roo

Thanks Red Roo! I love AFF! :)

Mrs Shelf and I missed out. I doubt we'll venture from Melb to Taronga Zoo.

I would have liked the SC offer. Mrs Shelf has a work trip to China soon and she owes me (as i'll burn some A/L looking after the kidlets). I would have fancied a SC run :(

Re: Qantas double status credits promotion

"We look forward of welcoming you on board again soon."

Have QF outsourced their email-writing to English-as-a-foreign-language speakers now?
Don't mean to be nasty but do you seriously think that everyone working in business in Australia can speak and write English properly and actually cares whether they do or they don't?

By the way before anyone criticizes me I work in an office where people cannot speak English properly and continue to talk to one another in their own tongues and then wonder why their English is poor....

When I got the offer I was wondering was it because I fly SYD - LHR on EY in Feb and it appeared in my Bookings, and it showed my VFF number, so they might have worked out it would be worth VA Gold to me as it was a J ticket, and didn't want to lose me, even though I am only a PS that was hoping to make SG before July, which is now assured as work trips have picked up and with double SC's WP is looking like it might be with in reach with a JASA.

Re: Qantas double status credits promotion

Maybe it's only for people who need to requalify
Not quite.

Now thinking about this some more it is quite obvious Qantas does not care who has been targetted and who hasn't. I have flights booked every weekend between now and the end of September yet I get normal SCs and anyone who books now get double SCs. Makes no sense. Why wouldn't all flights in the promotion period count?

The only logical interpretation would be why not reward those who would have booked with Virgin instead of Qantas with double SCs. Makes sense.

The rest of us can just think that our flights booked months in advance do not mean anything....

Good point. However QF asked me in a recent survey who else i fly with , basically it's only QF. So not making any changes there.
And I have no plans to travel ( other than what is already booked) during the promo period.

I don't know where to ask this question so i will do it here : do you know how much SC i can earn on Jetstar flights between HKG and SIN ? Is there any tool to check it ?

Depends on our fare type. Cheap fares don't earn anything. If you travel with a plus bundle generally that will earn you SC's and miles. Eg , I am flying jet* , HNL-SYD in j with plus bundle in may so will earn miles and SC's.

I will add the option to earn SC and miles but i want to know how SC i will earn on a HKG-SIN-HKG

Ok thank you. I've done it but they gave me only SC for CX flights is it normal ?

It'll give you a distance - you can refer to the QF table to give you the SC earnt. My guess is it is 15 (disc y) or 30 (Y)

edit: phat fingers!

Re: Qantas Double Status credits

I'd suggest you check if a times Zone is specified in the T&C, it might be midnight 30 June AEST. In which case an evening departure from LHR wouldn't qualify.
Just about to book. Had been deferring, hoping for a decent JASA but time marches on. Would probably have flown the return leg LHR-MEL on 2 July but now looking at skipping out earlier to take advantage of the offer.

Nothing that I have found specifies a time zone provision - but if anyone has seen that detail, it would be very helpful to know before finalizing bookings.

At this stage, given Red Roo's advice, I would be fairly confident of booking an LHR-SIN-MEL, departing LHR on 30 June, all on one flight number. If a change of number out of SIN, I think the LHR departure would need to be earlier.

AFAIK (based on red-eye's out of Perth), that it is local time at the departure airport that counts.

Thanks for that, oz_mark. That seems right, in this case, too, given Red Roo's comments and the lack of highlighted time zone specification in the offer.

I agree that medhead's reference to time zones is worth a check, as it does sometimes apply. Nothing apparent in this promo though.
