Qantas double SCs

Has anyone ever had any luck in speaking to a consultant about having lack of inclusion reviewed?

I am Gold FF (for past 6 years) and have never recieved an offer. I thought this was an automatic one and booked flights Perth-Hong Kong-Shanghai-Beijing-Hong Kong-Perth on basis that it would finally help me get to Platinum. Obviously have paid extra versus other alternatives to get to use Qantas to get the status credits. Read this thread and clicked on the link in Red Roo's email and it says I am not entitled.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Hi All,
For members targeted with this offer, only travel on QF flight numbers 1 – 399 will earn double Status credits during August 2012 (provided rego and booking etc. conditions are met).

So, for example:
QF81 – SYD-ADL-SIN in Y in August would earn 80 SCs [(15SCs SYD-ADL + 25SCs ADL-SIN)x2]
QF735 – SYD-ADL then QF81 –ADL-SIN in Y would earn 65 SCs [(15SCs SYD-ADL x1)+ (25SCs ADL-SINx2)]

What happens in July? If I book an international flight for July, does it count or is the offer from now till June, skipping July, and resuming in August?

Like any other promotion there is no method to how you are targeted.. Also I doubt calling them will change anything.

You thought it was an automatic one...there's your problem. You failed to do the required research first and you only have yourself to blame for choosing a more expensive option.

Nothing you can generally do with becoming eligible as QFF & Marketing have already "chosen" those who are eligible for the promo.

Put it down to experience and always check here for discussions on the promos

Sorry, but you have no-one else but yourself to blame. It is a targeted offer, and I get the feeling that you would have bucklies chance of getting included.
Out of interest, are the internal China flights QF flight numbers, or just the normal CX/KA Flight numbers?

welcome to AFF!

sorry to hear your situation, although I have to agree with the others that a bit of research would have turned up the right answer. when someone told you about this offer you should have then seen if you were eligible.

however... and now the theoretical musing part... I do wonder about the fairness aspect of this:

should benefits of a program not be offered to all members who have paid for that membership? I read the terms and conditions and don't see anything written in there that certain benefits may or may not be offered to members (at the same tier) from time to time. if you buy a product, then shouldnt you have a reasonable expectation that the product will deliver the same as the next person?

obviously there are tier benefits, but within each tier, should members not be treated the same as they have fulfilled their obligations under that tier?

I can understand an argument that targeted promotions would be fair if it was a free program. but this is not. there is a joining fee, and what you sign up for should be clearly stated. you would not ordinarily expect your neighbour to get one thing while you miss out.

are there in fact other similar promotions out there for paid memberships where some members receive benefits while others don't?

what if this promo was slightly different and in order to entice more travel they comped silver membership to bronze members for a year. would that demand more investigation on behalf of members who missed out?

This has to be a first poster rib-tickler.....gotta love the characters:D

Thanks for the mixed welcome to the forum

Internal flights are Cathay.

Have relogged on this morning and now have a "Registration Confirmation" for the offer. I have taken a screen dump - it shows my details in the top right corner.

Do you suggest I make contact with Qantas now to clarify or wait until "up to" 6 weeks after my first flight during the period if the credits have been allocated.

Will be the difference this year whether I finally make it to Platinum. Work for a company that has best deal of the day as requirement, make's it tough on Red E Deals!

Cheers

In my view it is a FREE program
Offshore address - free
Signup via Free Woolworths card - free

It's their program and they can run promotions, targeted or not, as they see fit imho

I am confused.
In your first post you were complaining about lack of conclusion.
You now state you received a "Registration Confirmation" for the offer.
-- If so - what link did you use to register? Could you possibly have had an invite email end up in trash (auto spam maybe)

Maybe now - but plenty of people did pay their $82 or whatever it was at the time before we had the woolworths card. (so it is clearly not a free program.) Anyone who signed up using a overseas address when they were not entitled also potentially runs up against having breached the terms and conditions, although whether or not that would be considered material is another matter (although QF could possibly have argued that any points accrued before the payment of a membership fee were void).

Nothing that says some members will not get benefits while others do... (tier benefits aside). If you have paid you have a right to transparency i would have thought.

Cathay flights with Cathay numbers will only only the normal SC rates for the relevant Fare that you have purchased.

That changed if they are QF numbered flights. I did a random search this morning and I could not find any QF codeshares on CX for that route.

Booked it all via the Qantas website and they were the flights that came up as the options available. Had thought this would mean that they were codeshared, didnt realise Qantas would "market" flights if they aren't involved. Live and learn I guess.

No didn't have an email, clicked on one of the links through the thread and it came up with the details and my details in top corner. So assume there was an error or something overnight saying I wasnt entitled. But wanted peoples view on whether I should reconfirm now with Qantas or wait. As I said, have a screen dump of the page to email them if they give me grief. All my business will be going to Virgin (where Im also Gold) if they shaft me on it.

If you went through this link:
http://www.qantas.com/bonusapril

and were already logged into qantas.com and it gave you a confirmation then you should be OK (would also check you spam filter that its not blocking Qantas emails)
In prior experience Qantas will also send a confirmatory email.

Check your profile on the QFF webpage - if you haven't ticked the box for updates/specials/etc you don't get any emails.

It may depend on just which link the other link was. Some of the links are personalised and will just register the person that the link was sent to originally. If it is one of the links that is titled 'Register', you may well just be registering that person again.
