Qantas double SCs

I took some flights on the 9th May and the DSC posted on the 14th. Almost WP I can taste the DYKWIA!!!!

Correct, ATA for International First lounges existed until early 2007. This was before the MEL and SYD Flounges were Newsonised.

After that ATA was available for QP's and International business lounges (not Domestic Business Loungess) - this was removed as we more know more recently.

That makes me feel better. Flying F/J on *A I can use the Air NZ lounges and they are meant to be better than the QF international business lounges.

They certainty were some years ago, but I'm not so sure now.

I have noticed a significant degradation in their catering over the last 18 months.

Late last year they even "trialled"having alcohol free regional lounges.

OMG!! I'm guessing it was a spectacular failure????

Very happy with my double status offer from Qantas - couldn't have come at a better time

Here's my story - and how I've taken advantage of the unexpected offer

Things weren't looking good for me in March with 0 SC's and an August renewal
The email offer arrived just a little late (4 April) so I just missed out on double credits for a return PE trip to Frankfurt as I booked the flight on 30 May (grrr...) - but 240 SC's achieved nevertheless (and 3 out of 4 legs op upgrades to J class so can't really complain)
Then an unexpected trip to Tokyo (PE and Econ) with double credits (210) and so now the opportunity is there for WP qualification - never having come close I've decided to treat myself and qualify while the double SC's are on offer
So I just booked a Syd-Melb-Alice Springs-Syd (360 SC's) and then Syd-Bris-Syd (160 SC's) all in J class same day flight in early June (6am start and 10pm arrival home) and then a return Syd-Sing in J class in early Aug (480 SC's) which will tip me over 1400 SC's (50 to spare!) to qualify for WP for next year

Sure it's cost me some points and dollars (all the future trips are JASA) but I think it's worth it to get a bit of travel in and WP status for the next year - I'll get to use the First Class/Business Class lounges and if things don't go well and I don't travel as much I'll only be dropped back to SG in 2013 when renewed

and for those who worry their beloved First class lounge is going to be overrun by new WP's using the Double SC offer to qualify - tough luck we're coming :-)
seriously though - relax, you don't get to WP without a bit of effort, and in my case it's been a long apprenticeship in SG (must be around 5 years I think)

Sorry I dont know all the abbreviations / codes I'm afraid - if someone wants to fill me in on them happy to update my post

Very fortunate to receive this offer also, I have gone from SG to WP since the offer and am only 600 off WP1, also happy as my ann is 31 July with 4 J class OS trips planned between now and then :)

Just burnt 160K points for a JASA run:

SYD-X ADL-X PER-X SYD-X CBR-BNE-SYD

About 2-3 hours layover in perth. I assume that online check-in won;t allow me to check in the whole sectors.

Is there any way to check-in in Perth without going out the secured area?

Inside the Qantas Club (Just outside the entry they have the NGCI Poles too).
When you land, just go straight up the escalator to the QC.

What are the timings between the sectors?

There shouldn't be an issue checking in for multiple sectors. I am guessing Hand luggage only?

It is like arrive at 19:15 and depart at 23:55 in perth...So loads of time really. But can not be bothered to go out...So will use the machine near Qantas Club...and spend a leisurely time in the lounge.

Since Australia domestic flight permits liquid so will only take hand luggage only. Thank you any way!

PER airport feels like it 'shuts-down' from about 7pm till 10-11pm 'ish (when pax start arriving for the red eyes).

Literally. The other week I missed a 6pm flight and had to wait for the next at 00:25. They shut down most of the food section, emptied the juice machines and dismantled them and vacuumed. Quite surreal in a lounge at 6:30pm.

Thank you all for the comments...lol

I will look forward to be in the ghostly Perth Airport...

Any news about moving location of the airport domestic building?

If I'm not mistaken, all you need to do is to have done OLCI, and basically turn up at the gate with your FF card? (Or you can also do the check-in and boarding with your phone).
