Qantas double SCs

Ahhh the joys of no warning for these thingies - idiot US travel agent booked me an incorrect fare on 30March for a US trip in mid April...

Mostly correct fare was booked 1 April and ticketed on the 2nd (then I fixed the rest thru QF after the first sector) but as it all used the same original booking reference it was considered a March booking.

*Sigh*... If the email had arrived in the last couple of days in March instead of 4 April I could have delayed by two days and won!

Long time lurker, figured it was about time I chimed in!

Cheers.

And you will be kind enough to show me where it says that "new" bookings using a gift voucher purchased in December 2011 do not qualify for this promotion?...
And will you please point out where it indicates flight being applied to a gift voucher represents a new booking. (The PNR remains the same.)
... The Amadeus reference number is irrelevant as it does not appear on "my bookings" until I actually make a booking.

No. I am talking about the gift vouchers "purchased" in December and not yet used. I have a few of these left over and I have made new bookings with them....
Good luck on the 2xSC earn - I hope for your sake you get them.

Note that when you apply a gift voucher to a flight booking, it is under the same Amadeus PNR.

Obviously you did not read all my post where I pointed out the post that shows to get those vouchers appearing under "your bookings". As I mentioned, mine are indeed showing.

My gift vouchers appear in my bookings, there is a way to do this using manage bookings on BA.com. I predict you'll have to ring to get the double SC.

when purchasing a gift voucher were there terms and conditions which state it constitutes a booking and generates a PNR?

It would need to clearly state that, in plain and clear language, in order for it not to be considered a new booking when using a voucher.

I think QF was spot on when they said they would award the double SCs. In the absence of there being terms as stated in my opening paragraph, and ordinary person would be reasonable in thinking that a booking using a purchased voucher was a 'new booking' for the purposes of the promotion.

I think it's just the way the system works, and such exceptions would need to be dealt with manually - which they appear to be happy to do so.

Why would I need luck? It is clearly a "new" booking as far as this promotion is concerned and it may well require a phone call or 2 to sort it out but I would still expect double SCs. Not that I need the double SCs but why would I let them go?

I seem to recall someone posted that they received them automatically with one of these vouchers.

You never know who you'll get on the other end... while it's not suppose to make a difference, you never know...
Agreed but I am a patient person when I want to be. ;)

My advice would be to call and call again until the right person answers the phone....

No, it is NOT "clearly" a new booking as far as this promotion is concerned.

It was medhead who had to fight for the 2 x SC's after using a gift voucher. But he did get them.

He explains it in this earlier post:
Firstly, for clarity l was referring to the gift vouchers that everyone purchased in December to get 10 points per dollar. Those vouchers did create a PNR at the time of purchase. So it was my stupidity for using it and not realising it would show up with a december purchase data to the system.

Now after so discussion the call center person did agree it was a new booking in practical terms because no actually flights were booked in December. They have also made a manual award of the extra SC, but it was doubly stupid to use the voucher and then expect auto double SC.

...

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

Pretty much my thoughts. The original purchase date would be when the voucher was purchased and likely that this is whatever processes the SC's would see.

my qantas status credits have been doubling fine, usually within 10-13 days after my flight/original status credit posting.

i have an upcoming flight in june from los angeles to newark on AA in First. (instant upgrade fair).
i know these earn first class status credits, but are they eligible for the double credit promotion?

i'm almost positive they are but just want to hear it from someone else. :D

An instant upgrade fare will be on an AA flight number. I'm 99.95% certain it is not eligible for double SC.

I have already booked the flights for the Queen's birthday weekend and will also more than likely make a booking for the June 30 as well. I know it is only 80SCs but I am not going to let them go.

P.S I was going to use a voucher for flights on May 30 as I have stupidly left myself 25 SCs short of an 8,000 QFF points loyalty bonus but I am going to spend $194 on a "new" booking to get 40 SCs as I do not want to have to chase up the double SCs as my year ends on May 31. ;)

I'll add in the other .05% to make it 100% sure that AA flights numbers won't earn the double SCs :)

Just in case anyone missed the conditions:

MUST BE A QF FLIGHT NUMBER

* An eligible flight for the purposes of this promotion means any flight with a QF flight number on the ticket where Status credits are normally earned. Status credits may not be earned on some fare types and booking classes including Classic Award flights and Qantas codeshare flights (i.e. with a QF flight number on the ticket) operated by Jetstar or Jetstar Asia other than in Economy booking classes Y, B, H, K, and L (when booked as part of a oneworld fare). Qantas Segments booked in X, U, Z or P classes are eligible to earn Points and Status credits only when booked as part of a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award.

My double SCs just came through for a flight taken on 8 May - which was enough to make me WP for the first time. Now what to do with my new super-status? I have a couple of international flights coming up but they are on *A carriers so no Flounge :( Anytime access must have been very enjoyable while it lasted.

pretty sure ATA didn't apply to the F Lounge.

I’m sure serfty will chime in with the dates, but I recall reading ATA was offered for F, but ended about the same time the MEL and SYD Super-F lounges came into being. Or something like that. They’ve only been open since 2007 or so right?

Correct, ATA for International First lounges existed until early 2007. This was before the MEL and SYD Flounges were Newsonised.

After that ATA was available for QP's and International business lounges (not Domestic Business Loungess) - this was removed as we more know more recently.
