Qantas double SCs

This seems to have been more scattergun than targetted...

Yes, I'm sure that's how QF do it. They throw all the FF numbers in a big bowl and pick some out.

Seriously... Just because people can't guess the process and algorithms.... It is like the black art of yield management we will never know the exact method, I'm sure some guesses may be close though.

My +1 has just been offered her third variation of the double SC promos. She has just dropped to Gold and this one is to 'help her back to Platinum'

Quite happy with the double SC promotion. With my return trip ADL-FRA this month the double SC's just kicked me over 2,400 for the first time with still 2 months to go :-)

I believe this is a shot taken in the QFF customer promotion selection centre

FWIW, keep an eye on your statements. I've done 7 eligible flights over three weeks ago - DSC have posted for 5 (posted within 1 week), so missing two. After the second week I rang the QF hotline and as expected nothing can be done until the 6 week deadline. No big deal but given most are flying far more than me, keeping track of your statements could be a bit of a struggle!

As the DSC bonus don't relate to a particular flight (other than the SC amount) it just adds to the confusion as to which flights have received!

I would hope then that my critical August BNE-AKL flights to get me across the line for WP will happen on time as my year ends on the 31/08

It won't matter. DSC are always backdated to the date of your flight regardless of when they are actually posted. If that date is a previous year for you and as a result of the backdated DSC you qualify for WP in that year you will be made WP from the date of the flight.

I completed 8 flights last week - last flight was on Sunday night. 7 lots of DSC appeared yesterday and the last 1 has just been posted to my account. Travelling again tomorrow and only have to have 1 more flight and I am WP for the first time!

Mine are showing up with enough information to link to individual flights:

But were I (for instance) about to fly SYD-AKL say in September, I would be refused entry to the F Lounge as I would NOT be able to prove WP status.
I am not flying anywhere in Sept at present ....BUT you never know

That's just bad luck though. The T&C clearly state that the DSCs could take 6 weeks to process.

Sure you can match by DSC amount. IMO it would be better if they matched to the actual flight date or flight No. I'm missing two hits of 40SC but, which two? As I've said, due to the low No of flights (in my case) it's easy to work it out......for someone that has many flights, it's going to take longer! Here is an image of my (current) statement.

BTW, apologies for attaching such a large file....haven't quite mastered the attachment process.

Theoretically this could occur during the period between the flight date and the DSCs being posted because you would still be only SG as far as the Flounge dragons can tell.

I was going to have the same problem in that I would reach WP status in the middle of a trip. So when I was on the phone to Qantas I asked this question and was told that if it was a Qantas lounge they could always ring Qantas FF and advise the lounge of your new status. Up to you if this is worthwhile.

fair enough cant ask for better than that

My wife and I just received this email from Qantas. Seems like the competition is heating up.

Dear all,

I have a question requiring a quick answer, and don't believe it has been covered earlier in the thread:

Background:

I received the DSC offer, registered for it and have taken a few domestic flights since.

I now have a possible business trip to Singapore in August, but the requirement may not be confirmed for a week or two.

I would like to book a Business Saver fare, using the Pay Later option, which would secure the current fare for me but only require a $25 outlay with the payment deadline pushed out to 19 August. If the fare is then cancelled I only lose the $25.

Question:

If I book this trip within the DSC promo period (ie., sometime tomorrow, 30 June), but pay for it later ~ probably sometime in July ~ will the flights still qualify for the DSC promo?

Looking at the wording of the promo:
Remember you will earn double Status credits^ on all eligible* International and Domestic Qantas flights when you book and travel from April through June 2012. You can also book International flights from April through June for travel during August 2012.

It seems to me that making the booking by 30 June should be enough to qualify, as long as the flights are then taken within the specified period.

Or when they say "book" do they mean "book and pay for"?

Learned opinions please.

Thanks in advance.

Could be wrong, but I think once a booking reference number is generated, everything relates to the date it was generated.

Why not phone tomorrow in the hours that theWP number is likely to be manned by the premium desk & ask them as well? Be sure to get their name if they tell you it'll be right.

tallboy... I thought that book now pay later does not secure the fare? it is still subject to any 'fare adjustments' as they put it... so if the price goes up, you have to pay the increase when you make final payment. I think book now pay later just secures you a seat on the plane, in that fare bucket.

This might seem like a stupid question but do JASA earn double status credits? I received the email and registered... All good... But was talking to qantas yesterday and they said the JASA I did don't receive dsc???
