I was looking for CHC-MEL and CHC-AKL-SYD-MEL on JQ/QF/QF showed (all QF flight numbers) And a CHC-BNE-MEL [did not book any]
JQ metal even with a QF flight number wont count. Has to be both QF flight # and QF Metal.

I kept seeing cheap J SYD-CHC on EK metal, but not an option if DSC is the goal.

Hi everyone, long time forum lurker, first time posting!
Is status worth chasing? I fly 5-10 times a year for work (plus couple of leisure trips) and I treat myself to business - in a COVID world I just prefer a little more space around me, personal choice. Therefore, I get access to lounges etc so just wondering if aiming for Gold/Platinum is worth it? I do have a tonne of points to burn which I normally use for RTW in business so would it be of benefit to have a higher status in unlocking more seats? I’ve booked VA for rest of year to give them a go but wondering if it’s worth swapping back to QF during DSC promo?

You might want to take a look here:

I was looking at CR options to/from NZ to pickup up a couple of extra SCs. The EK flights are always tempting ex CHC but yes, out of play 😔

Made a couple of Trans-Tasman J bookings, one of which was to meet up the QF3 points Plane.

Looks like I'll be getting more SCs for the SYD-AKL leg (160 or 80*2) than the AKL-JFK leg (72 I think on a J reward seat).

AKL-JFK should be at least 80SCs, as DFW-SYD is 80 while LAX-SYD is only 72.SYD-LHR nets 112.

I was looking for J award seats AKL-JFK and never managed to see any, oh well maybe next year.

I don't have any new flights to book within the promotional period, but being a Bronze and not a frequent traveller (ie. nowhere near enough to even get or maintain Silver), plus no real need for higher tiers, I'd pick double the points for the times where I would need it.

Thoughts on the best way to accrue 490 SC (needed to reach platinum before end of May)? MEL based.

If you are booking via Qantas.com, go though the process (don't use express) ensuring you input your Qantas frequent flyer number(s), right up to the payment page - then stop.

Open another tab/browser, log in to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account, go to the your bookings page and you should see the new booking there. Open up and segment fare bucket classes should be revealed.

(If you are happy, I guess at that point you could complete the booking on the original browser/tab before it times out.)
Just a brief follow up on this one... It worked for the QF flights within my booking, but it didn't give me the fare classes for the MH flights. I was able to take the generated PNR over to MH 'Manage Booking' and find them on there, though, and they are just what I needed! Now, if I could only figure out how to pay for it after closing the tab I used to set it up :D Cheers! Matt.

EDIT: I went back in after about 10 mins, and there was a big banner at the top of the held booking asking me to pay, else risk the prices increasing... I did so, and it's all done! That's me sorted for WP, and then some, until my 2024-25 membership year.

That must be new(ish). I don’t recall being able to get back to the payment screen on one of those “Haven’t you forgot something“ placeholder bookings.

If it wasn’t time/price critical, I’d just them let them drop out at midnight and rebook the next day rather than trying to ring up.

I'm sure glad I had the option, as I tried to do it again, even with a separate browser with VPN and private mode on, and the price had jumped up by $3K for the same booking (+$1K per pax)

Ended up doing PER-MEL-SYD-MEL-PER in J rewards, couldn't justify doing an AKL run with the current pricing.
Good call. I think I'll drop one or two of these in for my next membership year.

So in Points Club, a business award seat is credited with the same number of credits as if a paid Business Fare?

Anyone buying vouchers for later use? I know it has worked in that past
T & C's say
"Flight gift vouchers purchased during the promotion but not redeemed for an eligible flight booking during the promotion period will not earn double Qantas Points or double Status Credits"
