I already had booking I’m there 3 weeks certainly worth a stay

I logged in then registered off the email link, got (and screenshot) the confirmation, but no email. Made a booking as I could see sale fares disappearing (or possibly being jacked up) before my eyes.

Now I know that no email increases the hassle potential, so wondering if I should re-register off the web page. IIRC in the distant past booking then DSC registering hasn't worked but the new wofld of multiple registration changes during the offer period might make that an option. Thd t&cs just refer to registering and booking, not rdgistering then booking. Whaddaya reckon?

cheers skip

The t&c's seem to have a provision for changing your choice to points or SC or back. I wouldn't change to points, but it implies multiple registrations won't 'break' it. I figure it couldn't hurt to register again.

The conditions specifically exclude it, so I'm not expecting any loopholes, but can anyone confirm their experience with qf codes on EK during previous promos?
Can anyone confirm that if we flew on Emirates metal with QF flight number we will be eligible for the Qantas double status/points promotion?

No. Have to fly on Qantas. You'll just get normal credits only.

Maybe a silly question but ...

"Double Qantas Points and Status Credits will be credited to your account from eight weeks after travel. Bonus Status Credits earned from this offer do not count towards Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus Reward and Status Accelerator/Challenge earn requirements. Status Credits are not transferable and will be governed by the Qantas Frequent Flyer terms and conditions. "

Does it usually take 8w for these to be credited? If I'm flying in Mid May and my reward year ends may 31st, will the credits apply for the reward year I've flown (or when they're credited, ie: the subsequent year)?

Usually not. The first batch might take a couple of weeks and then later ones come quicker. I think it's just a CYA wording. The credits are applied in the membership year flown.

Mel to anywhere in nz return via syd earns 500 scs if booked in j saver fate (not sale).

Isn't it 480?

I was still able to pick up one of the attractive sale fares to NZ at a cost/SC of $3.01. Reasonable value in the current pricing climate. Still have to accrue a few more to hold onto Platinum for the next year.

Would you care to share the sale fare and routing?

Q & A says
Gift Vouchers purchased and redeemed for an eligible flight booking made during the promotion period will be eligible for the bonus reward. Gift Vouchers purchased but not redeemed for an eligible flight booking (for flights that are not booked or travelled within the booking or travel period dates), will not earn the bonus reward.

Very confused . . . Can a lawyer explain this?

They mean you need to book eligible flights in the booking(promotion) period - ie: March 23-29th for travel in the travel period - ie March 29 - Feb 28. Any other variation will not be eligible basically. Which is also what the fine print says.

I believe there's an argument (although possibly not a strong one) to be made that the "promotion period" is 29 March 2023 to 28 February 2024.

indeed, I haven't made it to any AFF gatherings!

I think PER-MEL-SYD-CBR sneaks in under the 41.5k points mark - are there any other actually bookable routings, where J is offered, that anyone would recommend? I haven't been able to get to the payment page on anything with 4 flights.

It works for an AS booking, although a Y seat CBR-SYD. It's probable that if you can find a J-equipped flight, it would be bookable.

It also works with ADL in the mix. And both ADL and MEL.

Nice. Valuing a qffp at 1c, that's roughly $415 + give or take $100 of fees for 38 + 18 + 18 (in the Mel example) or 148 during DSC, meaning $2.80/sc if you book it during DSC.

Adl I think is in the lower distance bracket from per so earns a tiny bit less?

I think per-mel-syd-cbr should price at under 41.5, going per-syd pushes it over the 2400 distance.

Sure thing @Danger

OOL-MEL-AKL return. Depart 14 October. Return 21 October. Fare $1,673. On my calculations should earn 560 SC’s after promo.

When I booked there was still a fair bit of availability at this price around October across various dates.

Does anyone have a definitive list of which hardware ('metal') qualifies? I've already been told here that Alliance Airlines and QantasLink do qualify, but Jetstar does NOT qualify. The discussion went off on a tangent about whether or not Qantas YET owns Alliance, but it was stated it doesn't matter anyway who OWNS an airline. If Emirates does NOT count, even with QF flight number, and Alliance DOES count with QF flight number, then we are confused. Hence, is there a definitive, categorical list of which OPERATOR is included?

Qantas doesn’t have any ownership in Emirates and never will. They’ve never been included. Same with any other code share. I can’t answer why Jetstar has been excluded this time, that’s the only outlier. Qantas flies Alliance only Adelaide to Canberra. Qantas link same concept. I’ve received DSC on Qantas link.

I booked the same (different dates mine in January, same price) but used Amex credit to reduce price by $450 then tacked on a SYD-OOL RTN in Y ($258) to bring it up to 600SCs.

There’s no published definitive list.
But basically any QF mainline or QFLink flight will be eligible for the promotion if you have a QF flight number on the ticket.

Nothing else is eligible even if it has a QF flight number.

Put basically if there's a white roo on a red tail on the back of the plane it will earn* - everything else won't.

Basically this is about money (let's put JQ to one side). QF wants the revenue for themselves. If it's a codeshare on EK, EK gets revenue out of it. QFLink operated flights are ALL operated as QF (nothing else) and it's basically still revenue to them - put simply.

(* yes alliance aircraft are not all painted in QF colours)

The difference is EK and JQ fly under EK and JQ codes (operator codes), and these can be sold as codeshares with QF codes (marketed codes). Air North does not qualify, as they operate as TL. Alliance flights not offered as Qantaslink operate as QQ, these also don't apply.

Alliance, Sunstate, Eastern Australia, National Jet and Network Aviation all fly as QantasLink using QF codes. They are not codeshare QF codes - they are operated by QantasLink under various wet lease / subsidiary arrangements.

That there is the list, nobody else.
