Qantas DSC October 2024 Offer - book by 31/10/24 & fly 1/11/24-19/10/25

I was trying to maximise my double status credits… and don’t know if it’s a good deal but I got a return to Cairns from Sydney for just over $1600 in Business with 160 SC giving me 320 not a bad deal…just sharing.

Inchresting....

Unable to figure out what my class code is for my booking last year, but I got 10 when I was expecting nothing ;3;
My last trip (first ever trip to China) I was expecting SC's from the Cathay legs as they are a OneWorld member and I booked the ticket on the QF website - and got nothing for the outbound to Shanghai or the return back to Hong Kong - slightly annoyed to say the least! Fortunately I got DSC for the legs on Qantas metal, and this next trip in a couple of weeks will see me retain Gold for the year with a little under six months to go.

It's a lesson many QF flyers learn about airline booking class. (And its not just limited to CX).

Agree however in the past you could build quite complex itineraries that don't necessarily display like the above, I've done things like BNE-SYD-MEL-HBA by building them in the old search engine and it priced as a single award, or even more crazy routings. You can also spend a whole day in Canberra using the old multi city tool, the above will show the much shorter connections usually.

Get a good TA

Interesting...

Was this a multi-city booking?

Qantas is showing this booking receiving 110SC (the same booking I did last year), despite being on a Multi-City Sale fare. I'd expect to receive less if CX was valued at 0.

Never trust that calculator. It can and most certainly will get it wrong.

That's interesting because I was credited 110SCs for that exact same trip the start of this year. Maybe I just got away with it then ig...

The multi-leg rarely works as it should - it has been a bit of a joke for years.
I was also having issues using it. It worked smoothly for one trip but not for another. It was only after the price went up by ~$300 did it start working again (hmm, suspicious).

2 silly questions:
1) All flights booked via the Multi-city tool, when it decides to work, should be subject to the DSCs and not just the one-way/return flights?
2) Even though the number of SCs that show up prior to payment is the standard amount, the DSCs should come through as a separate transaction?
(This is the first time that I've purchased flights during a DSC sale - I'm trying to make sure that I'm not making any assumptions. I'm excited and am hoping for the best once the flights occur next year - I should have enough to almost get me to WP.)

A (really) good TA can assist with such as well ... at a cost however.

There is a possible problem with using a TA for Award bookings - you have to give your password over which might be a problem if there is ever fraud on the account ie the inevitable question "Have you given your account password to anyone?" - not because the TA would do anything untoward. Low chance I guess.

Thanks in Advance

Does anyone know if RTW fares booked online now will earn DSC for QF operated flights in that itinerary and within valid timeframes.

If the flight number booked is also QF marketed (in addition to the flight itself being QF operated), then yes.

For example, if you are flying QF11 and your ticket has been booked under QF11 (as opposed to AA7363), then it should count.

Well, they got me.

I've wanted to see more of the South Pacific and while I haven't gotten particularly serious about it, yesterday I found flights from SYD to Samoa (via BNE), Tonga (nonstop), and Vanuatu (via BNE) priced around ~$2000 in J (Y was pricing at the ~$1000 mark). We spent the evening researching and settled on Samoa. (Norfolk Island also came in at $1500 with Y at $1000, so that's also excellent value, but we've been there [loved it].)

I didn't expect to book during this promo as I don't personally get enough value out of my status to see the logic in spending money I wouldn't otherwise spend for SC runs, repositioning, etc., and I didn't find fares on other potential trips I have coming up compelling enough to pay such a high premium all to guarantee my ability to maintain SG status, but this struck me as a genuinely reasonable fare to somewhere I actually want to go, and the DSC promotion did manage to get me to bite.

480 SCs for $2023 = $4.21 per SC. Not the best but also not the worst value as seen on this thread, and an interesting option for anyone based in SYD who actually wants to visit some of our Pacific Island friends. I'll also be locked in for Gold through May 2027, while still able to remain a free agent for larger, more expensive trips.

I'm really just referring to the ability to use the Qantas website as you could before to build a multi city same day classic flight reward that prices as a single award rather than individual ones. It is absolutely nothing to do with having a good travel agent.
(I have been one and still have gds access if I need it)

This could be useful on double SC for points club members

Sorry if above I broke some unspoken (haha - pun) rules of F(l)ight Club, asking certain questions. Innocent mistake. I'm not a prolific poster here, but do contribute when I think I have something worthwhile.

Anyway, like @FlyingKangaroo above, I've been checking out Pacific destinations ex MEL. Port Vila, Vanuatu via Brisbane coming up as Business Sale fare $1794 return for 480DSC = $3.73 per SC. Limited dates of course.

And we got J MEL-BNE-VLI return sub $1800 each for 480 SC @FlyingKangaroo - happy with that especially as it tips us both into WP.

Hadn't looked at Samoa, next time, look forward to your trip report!

No - was just a straight forward return booking using the QF website.
