Qantas / Emirates tie up (Partnership inc. Codeshare, Status)

You can still book a JASA to FRA well into next year. Anybody know what will happened to these bookings?

Just checked at Nice for our BA codeshare to LHR and then transiting to QF2 to SYD. As I am Gold, I am entitled to 2 bags in Y on BA due to the announcement in August. Immediately they tried to charge me. I brought out the printoff of the change in policy emailed to me in my monthly statement, still denied I had 2 bags entitlement, called her supervisor who also denied entitlement, then after I asked to speak to him he came over. Showed him the printout. He said it is always too difficult with Qantas. Finally went off and came back with the regulations, agreed I had the entitlement but informed me that in future my service will be very poor as Qantas was cutting its ties with BA and leaving OW. All with a typical Gallic shrug.

BA agents or third party agents?

I think many QF pax have experienced the brunt of BA agent (direct employed or contracted) several times. (To be fair on top, most agents of many airlines are pretty bad at knowing the IATA MSC rules, too).

Perhaps with this QF/EK tie up, these kinds of issues might be ironed out, at least a tad.

What does that printout say? I don't remember seeing anything with my monthly statement.

This checkin agent in Nice obviously thinks he knows a lot more than Qantas has let on - I don't remember hearing anything about Qantas leaving OneWorld?

See here: Qantas

+++ When travelling on British Airways operated flights on an Economy fare which includes only one piece of checked baggage, Platinum and Gold Frequent Flyers are entitled to one additional piece of checked baggage weighing up to the applicable British Airways weight allowance (currently 23kg) at no additional charge. To receive the additional baggage allowance, Qantas Frequent Flyers must quote their Frequent Flyer number at the time of making the booking.

The same way they show respect for our society and culture?

I wonder how long my crucifix would continue to hang around my neck on a short transit? Or should I hide my religious beliefs?

You could always try a Star of David

I received a sale e-mail a few days ago for ex-LHR flights in the new period and it states that "flights may change and route via DXB".

Perhaps the agent has a warped view that OW revolves around BA. Just like some (minority) on this forum have concluded the QF/EK partnerships somehow equates to QF leaving OW in the near future lol...

Why? They have only said the flights are being retimed to offer better connections on Asia. They seem to still have plans there, in fact, Asia is part of the strategy.

So, he better keep building!

I'm sure he has already left the building:!:

I don't think that the following has been mentioned elsewhere in this thread, but apologies if it has: the submissions have started to flow in to the ACCC in relation to the QF/EK application, including from Singapore Airlines, Virgin Australia, Air New Zealand, Jumpjet Airlines, and the Department of Infrastructure and Transport: Qantas Airways Limited & Emirates - Authorisations - A91332 & A91333. I haven't perused the submissions yet, but the Virgin one (predicatbly) would appear to be objecting: Virgin warns on Qantas alliance with Emirates.

Does anyone know which of the EK services out of Perth is the one they want to run an A380 on?
