Qantas / Emirates tie up (Partnership inc. Codeshare, Status)

What I just love about QF, the page they put up answers less questions than it poses. A list of QF codeshares on EK would be interesting (assuming it has been finalised, but given the commencement is 31 March, I'd bet it is around). Agents website perhaps??

Addendum: anat0l and markis10 are onto it like a Red Roo across the sky..

62. Does Emirates have a Premium Economy offering?

No. Emirates does not offer a Premium Economy cabin. Qantas will continue to offer Premium Economy for customers on the Qantas A380 services to London via Dubai. Customers who have booked Premium Economy fare on Qantas service, with an onwards codeshare flight operated by Emirates, will travel in the Economy cabin for that sector.

.... need I say more?

From those interested in just who is Lesley Grant (having taken over from Simon Hickey in the CEO role at QFF), in the photo she is the one standing on the left of Miranda Kerr in this photo.

Always like to know with whom I am dealing :D

It's curious to see the cities that missed out.
In the middle east, there is no Kuwait, Doha or Amman. Maybe Doha and Amman will be codeshared by QR and RJ?
In North Africa, it's a bit funny but they have not actually included any north african cities other than Cairo. However Ghana is in west africa and Nairobi is also sub-saharan. Surprised they didn't opt for Tunis and Casablanca.
In the rest of Africa, it's a shame that Lagos, Addis Ababa and Luanda have not been included.

But overall. Brilliant.

Blah,

This isn't a JSA but a codeshare.

Unless some amazing deals come through I'll still be using SIN-HEL on AY to get to the EU (or maybe a CMB run once UL joins OW).

I just don't trust any arrangement I cannot earn SCs on the partner airline under their coding.

Maybe 1 stop is great but it's still 4000 extra miles to get there: Great Circle Mapper

I'm thinking that even with 4000 extra miles, the actual time difference between the two options would be minimal (i.e. going the shorter way, via SYD and SCL, involves transit stops at those places, which eats up time).

Not really, I think we all knew this was coming.

Just hope that the W prices don't go ridiculous.

Needless to say, although not quite the same, a W ticket to continental Europe involved flying W all the way to LHR then transferring to a BA flight in Economy.

FRA will probably be the "bigger" loser because it would've been possible to fly all the way to FRA in W.

May also have to be very careful booking on the QF portal if any of the long sectors are operated by EK.

Yes you probably need to say more. Do you have a point? If you are booked on QF in PE at the moment you will stay on QF in PE. If you were planning to fly to CDG for example in PE your options were to fly CX or fly to FRA in PE and then in whY to CDG (substitute LHR for FRA if you want). Were you expecting to be put in J?

Given the seven posts already posted after this - I think not.

...Interesting that QF suggested flights from Singapore to London would be on their partner Finnair and not BA, then in the very next sentence goes on to say they are committed to oneworld. Interesting times ahead...

Is BA "more Oneworld" than AY???

Hi There! I have also been keeping an eye out for flights to NBO. We live in CNS, so it makes no sense to fly via JNB. I called the QF Platinum line today and asked which cities are in the partnership in North Africa. I was placed on hold for several minutes and the agent returned saying that she also does not understand why there is no EK offering to NBO. She also confirmed that the Kenya Airways service is no longer offered. She escalated the request and suggested that I call back in a week. She also said that she will call me if she sees any change - I thought that was a nice touch.

Who wants to go to LHR via HEL? What would be the point when BA fly direct?

This is because BA have thrown their proverbial toys from the cot over the EK arrangement, IMO, to their own detriment, as many of us would happily book a QF ticket via Asia connecting to a BA code share. (But would prefer a CX one ;) )

the BA website still has code share on QF for later this year. QF does not. I can only hope BA will start offering good deals flying QF to HGK or SIN then BA (like AY do but BA has a much better cabin and service)

I love that the baggage system is changing again. QF seem to change it more often than their underwear!

Yeah, saw that. And aren't they changing it to more or less what it was before the last change? Cheers skip
