Qantas FF and Woolworths create new loyalty alliance

I certainly won't get my hopes up. I have done several surveys over the years on credit card products, etc, that as far as I can tell never saw the light of day.

A recent one was asking about banking packages that offered FF points across your whole relationship with the bank. Some point on home loans, points on savings accouts etc. While I'd like to see that, I certainly haven't got my hopes up!

Don't suppose it gave you the option to ditch the fuel discount and earn points on every dollar spent at safeway/woolies? I never use the fuel vouchers (have several dozen of them that just expire) and would much prefer a point for every dollar spent there :)

Yep would much rather that as well or 1.5 points per $1 spent with no $30 min.

No, but there was a couple of questions about the $30/$50 threshhold, what I thought of it and if it had changed my shopping habits etc.

I wouldn't be getting too excited just yet. It was just a survey tossing a few ideas around, but it does show that the Everyday Rewards program is still very much a work in progress.

The $50 threshold would be BAD!

All I can see these things leading to is redemption levels increasing in QFF...

There's already a $50 threshold on D**k Smith/Tandy purchases.

If they push it out to the rest of the Everyday Rewards partners, I would definitely not go out of my way to shop at Safeway, where I purposely go there now when I have to do a decent shop.

Wait and see, I'm not expecting anything radical. As someone mentioned, it's obviously still a work in progress.

Living by myself, I do a shop at Woolies of say $70 four times a fortnight.

I earn 160 points, thanks to the $30 threshhold and fuel vouchers I never use.

If I did one shop of $280 I would get 250 points. Something is a bit unfair there..

Not exactly unfair, you have the power to change your shopping habits.

But it is a bit silly as they would get more if people shopped more often due to impulse buying. Yet their system encourages one to shop less.

Exactly. I have never understood their logic in relation to this. It makes more sense to reward people to come in frequently as most people will generally buy something more than they need everytime they shop.

True, but I would say this is more lucrative. For those who care about the points, there will be some who think it's better they try to buy more that visit anyway to maximise the return. It would be interesting to see the figures - I suspect there may be a significant increase in sales dollar amount since the program, or there should be for it to be deemed effective.

From their side, they're making a significant saving by only giving out points over the threshold. All those casual visits don't count and even those who don't spend much don't get a payout. If they were to extend the program then it may increase more casual visits, but at the expense of also capturing all the others that they don't currently have to pay out for. I would say the return isn't there (even though I would personally love such a change as their fuel vouchers are useless given local station policies (credit card surcharge), and don't spend much there so the $30 proportion is significant).

It would seem obvious that the $30 threshold is there to minimise the points payout requirement.

Sure they will be some who will spend a few dollars more to get over the threshold on any given visit. But people who care about the points will change their shopping behaviour so that they visit less often. I read something a few years ago that said impulse buying is actually very big - perhaps upto 20% of sales or even like $5 to $10 per visit on average. (certainly I changed my shopping habits after reading this analysis) So if someone only visits a shop half as often (1 per week instead of twice a week) then they stand to lose a decent chunk of sales.

Basically, it is a fine balancing act.

Perhaps a word of warning....

Upon a recent trip to a Woolworths (whilst on holidays), I followed all that was needed to earn QFF points - presented my linked EDR card to my QFF account. Anyways, the fuel voucher was added on the EDR site, however, no QFF points. 3 transactions were made on the day, to enable the bills to be split between people, so obviously, I only kept my bill, seeing as how I had never had an issue with points being credited before.

Anyways, no QFF points from any of the 3 transactions were added, and now I can only get the points from the 1 receipt that I have as I have been in contact with EDR call centre - the other 2 were thrown away as they weren't mine.

Personally, I find this pretty poor from Woolworths, purely based on the fact that under the T & C's of the EDR program it does not state the customer is 'responsible' to keep receipts in the event of an issue with points being loaded, and secondly, I did everything that was required of me, illustrated by the 3 fuel vouchers being added to my account.

Well, there is a warning for everyone, keep those receipts until the points are credited on your QFF account - even if you are on a holiday

Thoughts????

Well how about this.... I earned a 15c/litre voucher, from the Gillette promotion and ended up only getting 4c when I used it. This is how it displayed on my statement.

That's terrible! I'm going to use mine tomorrow and will see what happen.

I've filled up today and got the full 19cents off by looking at my docket and my statement.

It's been a while since I last posted....

But I have a tip....

I only hope it hasn't been mentioned before, otherwise I'll look like a
|@#$^ *$!.....

If you UNLINK your QFF card from your EDR card, and relink it again, you will get the 250 bonus points within the next seven days !!

( has this already been mentioned ?? )

It doesn't matter if you still have uncredited EDR points awaiting transfer to QFF, you will get all your points that have yet to be credited... plus the 250 the following credit period.

regards,
GORDO

It was discussed, but I’m not sure there was an outcome. Good to know, but I don’t want to risk abusing the program.

I Just unlinked and relinked and received the following message. Let's see if I get the points!

Thank you, your Everyday Rewards and Qantas Frequent Flyer cards have been linked.
Your BONUS Qantas Frequent Flyer points will appear in your Everyday Rewards account next week.

I wonder if you can do it multiple times? (not that I would)
