my friend bought a tv from Big W for about $500, using the gift card I bought her,

now she is considering getting a refund for it for some reason,

how is a gift card refunded? eg do they give you a new gift card, or do they give you cash, credit note???

This would be a Big W issue. But as the answer was easy enough to find, here is a link to their return policy.

As expected, just like many businesses the refund is in the form of a store credit, or Returns Card.

I use gift cards all the time so I can use self check out and not wait for signature (as I use AMEX with no PIN). Yes, you just get given a new gift card. Make sure they tell them to load it on a WOW card (Woolworths), so you can use it at **** Smith, Dan Murphy's, Woolies etc. Otherwise it's on a BIG W only one.

Also, as the amount is considerably not small, you may get a cheque instead of the gift card, all store dependant on who processes it.

But if it's the gift card, insist on a WOW card!
 
it was just a hypothetical question, Im not trying to rip off the system,

so yes, I did ask bigw what happens in case of refund, they said they will give me a gift voucher back with the exact amount on it...which is fair enough.

so what would happen to the EDR points? ive earnt them on the original transaction, but a refund wouldn't really be considered as a point refund becuase they are issuing another gift voucher? and what would happen if you didn't present it or didn't have the card on you, surely they wouldn't say "no EDR card, no refund sorry"...... is this a loophole? personally I really couldnt be bothered with this though.

Even if you don't have the EDR card, they can refund it as it's attached to the original receipt. I have done many refunds at BIG W and always get asked for my EDR card, but never notice any deduction in QFF points, or fuel vouchers, so not sure what the go is !

Has anyone had any experience with the crediting of Dan Murphy points?
Shopped there last Saturday, EDR card recorded on sales docket, but points haven't posted yet.

Am I just too anxious?

I would be interested to know as well how long the pts take to post...I got carried away at Dan Murphy's yesterday and spent close to $600:oops:...at least I have some nice reds to drink over Xmas and will get over 500 QF pts!

Haven’t tried, but it only works for wine purchases… just making sure you know that!

I too am having the same problem - an all-wine transaction on the 11th (over $100), and no points yet...

I have the same problem with D!ck Smith points on the same date - but my Big W points (also from the same date) appeared yesterday...

If they don't show up by Friday, I'll be calling the number...
 
In my case purchase was all for wine and came to $200.
Points have still not posted on the EDR site.
