We, my parents, brother and myself, as a family of 4 spend ~$150/week at Woolworths so that will be ~7,800 QFF points per year. Forget how AFF and FT members think but what would the average person think about 7,800 QFF points? Almost a one-way flight SYD-MEL but then cough up the taxes and surcharges. When they look a SYD-LHR return for 128,000 QFF points at the current earn rate it would take ~16 years of shopping at Woolworths + taxes and surcharges to save ~$1,200. Most people would not bother.
I agree with most of your other points but the only thing is that we need to remember that this is just part of a total earning process for most people - I would expect people to look at this as "I will only earn 8K points so why bother" - I think this will be seen more as an addition to their other ways of earning (restaurants, CC, and heaven forbid - flights :shock
