Wait. You're saying QF awards, even on partners, now allow free stopovers, similar to Alaska Mileage Plus?
Not QF-only awards. Return/circle/triangle oneworld partner awards specifically. It's made possible by the partner award and oneworld award charts being fully aligned from 18/09 onwards.
I'm thinking the effective definition of a 'trip' may have been 'enhanced'
.
 
Watched a Foxtel doco on Concorde this week and one chap was heavly interviewed took several HUNDRED Concorde flights alone.

75K SC to real businessmen is pretty easy.


QF had a guy years back in CEO Executive recruitment etc, who used to fly a million paid miles a year all in F to Europe and USA. A round trip to Europe around weekly. A neighbour used to Fly to SFO and back each week for years on UA. 15,000 miles a week.

This kind of travel occurs. Many here do not believe it, but it does exist. And like these kind of guys, in paid pointy end long haul so SC add up rapidly.

Definition of a 'trip':
'Trip' means a series of one or more consecutive Flight Segments within an Itinerary:

(a) that does not include:
(i) a Stopover; or
(ii) a Flight Segment whose arrival city is the same as the departure city of any other Flight Segment in that series (in this instance the Trip will be broken at the farthest point from the departure city for that series);
(b) not exceeding the maximum permitted miles in the Qantas, Jetstar or Partner Classic Flight Reward tables as applicable (see qantas.com for the tables); and
(c) not broken by a change to or from any airline included in the Partner Classic Flight Reward table (see qantas.com for the table).

No mention of increasing redemption rates that I could see. :rolleyes:

Break it down for us. What are you saying, that the stopovers madrooster referred to won't actually be possible because they are prohibited under the definition of "trip"?

It's the last sentence under "Better value" (ironically).

The definition of a trip hasn't changed for a while. The way QF has defined a trip is perfectly valid - what they have done is add an extra clause to say that swapping between partner carriers even if you are in transit counts as a new trip. That clause has been around for at least 2 years.
 
Ok - if you are aiming for Lifetime Platinum Status - on my calculations you would have to spend - If you travel this much you probably mainly travel on flex fares, and at an approx. price of $20/status credit, that means you would need to spend around AUD$1,500,000 to get lifetime platinum. Let’s say you earnt that over the 32 years of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, that would require spending an average of around AUD$47,000 per year on Qantas and partner, status earning travel. Reduction in Qantas Points and carrier charges for International Economy Classic Flight Rewards effective from 20 June 2019. Increase in the number of Qantas Points, and reduction in carrier charges, required for International premium cabin Classic Flight Rewards (excluding direct flights to and from New Zealand and select flights to and from the South Pacific) effective from 18 September 2019 . Increase in the number of Qantas Points required for Domestic Business Classic Flight Rewards effective from 18 September 2019. Increase in the number of Qantas Points required for Classic Upgrade Rewards will apply to all upgrade registrations made on and after 18 September 2019.

Will points club get many more people into the lounges? QC looks full most of the time, so I am wondering how many more expected to have access and how QF are planning to manage

Yes, it happens … but flying on the company dime. How many of us get to do that? :(

Finally some value in the QFF program. Less points for economy awards and reduction in surcharges is a positive move for the majority of QFF members.

A little stunned with the introduction of Lifetime Platinum. I never thought they'd go ahead with it. Interested in seeing more details.

QF announcement tomorrow
Just sounds like QF will again screw over their best customers. Every time the program has changed, this is what they have done. It is a shame QF does not value its customers but simply sees them as bums on seats - no matter what class they travel. Look at upgrades they are going to reflect fairness.

You'd be surprised about just how much some people fly.

I made over 10,000 SCs in one year while living in the UK by doing weekly LHR-JFK trips in First on BA for the best part of a year (this was probably 12 years ago now so back when partners earned the same SCs as Qantas). I have a friend who does weekly J trips to Singapore + the US and Europe once a month.

These days I barely fly at all and am LTG but won't make LTP ever.
