Qantas First Lounge in Singapore

That’s be rather an irony but you’d have to think it could be approx 150-200 pax down due to all of those being in the F lounge. FWIW, I heard that QF was predicting up to 200 J lounge pax per day would be diverted to the F lounge so this would have played some part in determining the lounge’s space and seating, but I think there’s an X-factor which Mark alluded to with regards to BA lounge leakage (although I seriously doubt many MH flyers would come across from T2 nor CX flyers ahead of a T4 flight,I think we are over-estimating the % of those types of people compared to the ‘norm’).
Perhaps you are yet to experience the SATS 'Premier' lounge offering for MH in T2, Mr Flynn? :rolleyes: Given the ease of moving between terminals at Changi, I reckon plenty of those who know the OW access rules would like to come over to the QF/BA J or QF F lounge options in T1, provided they have the time to do so. I know I do / will

The key word here is ‘savvy’ - yes, some savvy clued-in passengers will do this but realistically we are talking about the smallest fraction, and I’d submit this is not enough to tip the balance. Remember that if we are using an AFF, FT, ET etc audience as our sample, that’s the 0.0001% - savvy yes, but also a minutely small slice of the overall flying set.

I reckon there’s increased chance of BAEC Golds visiting the new F lounge because it’s in the same terminal but in terms of BA15/16 the stopover times are rather tight. BA12 will have more of an impact. There’s no denying that once an eligible (mainly OWE) BA passenger sees the F lounge that’s where they’ll want to be!

I’ll be interested too to note the impact of the new QR lounge when it opens in Q1 next year, although again it’ll be more a magnet for those ‘in the know’.

Depending of course on what access restrictions QR puts on it.

If like their DOH, LHR and BKK lounges, would still be a better option for non-Plats flying J.

And CDG. Qatar is yet to build a lounge that adheres to oneworld rules. My only gripe with an otherwise stellar airline.

I'm told it will be the same as LHR and BKK, and yeah, being at the C gates wing – next to the EK lounge – I think some savvy business class passengers doing a short transit stopover on QF and BA flights that pull up at the C gates wing will veer in here to earn more lounge time and enjoy what'll likely be a better lounge experience.

Have done this too.
It helped QF MEL thru checked me to KUL.
Visit QF and BA lounges then Sky Train it to Terminal 2. Usually skip the SATS lounge in the evening.

Not had a problem accessing the QR lounge BKK when flying CX or MH.

I went there today. Boring shoebox layout, but great fit out. Very busy, but nowhere near as bad as the old J lounge. Top service. Great food and coughtails but wine list is cheap and nasty. Yep - and for MH pax with OWE it will be even better, now, as the Skytrain between T1 & T2 is right by the new QF F lounge near D Transfer. Simples! I'll test it out soon enough, but I think it's faster to reach MH boarding at T2 low-numbered E gates from the new QF F lounge, then it would be to walk to the high-numbered T1 C gates for a QF departure.

At least they have Taittinger; The MEL/SYD F lounges are down to Mumm.

Pretty standard boxy layout as already mentioned.

More a dining space than “lounging” space

Place is well overcrowded. (Not enough seats. People are having to wait)

Food is good.

Service is good. (Though they are a bit stressed due to the volume of guests)

All in all it’s a tick from me.

I’m already wondering what measures Qantas may need to take to thin out the crowd, because ‘standing room only’ is not good, especially in these very early days and doubly so if passengers are doing the QF2 transit and have limited time to begin with.

People having to wait??
Maybe they will have to start putting restrictions on entry.
Would be more than a little annoyed if I was a F passenger and was told to wait for a seat
 
Pretty poor planning on the part of QF that they did not correctly estimate how many guests they would have and therefore failed to provide enough seating for everyone.
