Qantas First Lounge in Singapore

Off topic, but Qatar's lounge opened last week. Was the only guest there from 730-830pm last night prior to my QF82 flight. Excellent attentive service, love the decor, and love the a la carte menu with a coughtail bar (https://www.qatarairways.com/content/dam/hia/pdf/qr-singapore-lounge-en.pdf). Not sure how busy it gets given it's a much smaller place, but would much prefer this over the Qantas J lounge (for those without F access)
I must pay Qatar Lounge a visit. Prior to Covid, I have only visited Emirates Lounge which was also very good and quiet compared to QF's J lounge. Might do a lounge hop between QF First, Emirates and Qatar lounges to see how things have changed since Covid lockdown.

I was lucky enough to visit the Qatar lounge just prior to covid - it was pretty incredible. Very attentive, very comfortable, and very quiet. Can highly recommend.

Unfortunately my next trip to SIN probably isn't until September, so I'll have to wait until then to visit either the Qantas F or Qatar J. At least they'll have (hopefully) ironed out any return-to-service kinks by then!

Went to the SIN F lounge on the 18th. Laksa was as good as ever and the service was also great.

Found Emirates and BA lounges both to be underwhelming. But great for lounge hopping nonetheless. Now for CX to reopen theirs...

How much lounge time to expect on QF1/2? Any queue for the showers? Was always a bit tricky to enjoy a refreshment and some food in the J in the old days (pre covid) I hope it will be easier in F for my July trip.

About an hour lounge time. Having the F lounge now means no queue for the showers any more.

I was in the F lounge on the 18th June too. A lot of Australian staff were over for training as they had a few days soft launch before the formal reopening on the 19th.

Shower suites were open and the staff attention to detail was impeccable. Faith was lovely and the waitress with the short hair was brilliant.

A few photos:

It was very attentive service from the moment you walked in. Showers were spacious and clean. Visited 19 June 2022. Just almost ran out of time as I was taking my time to go through the menu nearly three hours. Food options was good making selection tough. The drinks list was decent I even got to finally enjoy a rose which is becoming rare in most lounges.

Salt n pepper squid was crispy and fresh and piping hot

This went very well with the squid

Crayfish Laksa was very authentic but I’m not a fan of the type of noodle served “lo see fan”. Would have preferred plain egg noodles or rice vermicelli

The wings was also very moreish and all served to order.

This was my selection after moving on from the rose

Finished with dessert three hours later. The Kaya cream was exactly as imagined and should have been more IMO

EK and QR are right next to each other so very easy to do a direct comparison!

Now for CX to reopen theirs...

CX lounge is in T4, which can only be entered if your flight departs from T4.

CX are operating out of T1 at the moment, so they'd need to shift back to T4 before reopening the lounge. The other OW airlines with a major presence at SIN (BA/QF/QR/JL/MH) are all departing from T1.

Tried the pork belly- it was one of the more disappointing "plates" I have had in a Qantas "First Lounge". Chewy rather than crispy skin ... other than the cabbage and mustard, lifeless. (I'm thinking I'll need to show them what I can do with belly pork using an airfryer ...)

Then I went the barramundi... small but delightful (warning, be careful squeezing the green citrus thing, pips can fly anywhere)

I had the Barra on Thu arvo. Very small but tasty. Nice with a glass of Shaw & Smith sav plonk.FDFDDB58-662A-46FE-B729-F1E3583E9CAC.jpeg

The chocolate mousse was delicious but I woofed half of it down before remembering I should have taken a photo…

All in all, it was a good visit, staff were extraordinarily attentive and proactive.

Back Sunday.

Note the lounge open four hours before the first QF out of SIN, so Saturday it is 3:30pm.
