Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

You can be quite certain that Ms Worth isn't seeing any of these mails, personally... her EA will be getting the shizits though :)
Perhaps AFF should write to Qantas' CEO of Loyalty about its concern over Qantas's lack of customer focus in relation to Loyalty, outlining the issues raised here. AFF has a level of authority that can't be dismissed by Qantas IMHO, as it is a representative body similar to a union when it comes to workplace bargaining, although without any legal protections, it will have credence that Qantas would/should not ignore.

Just my 2c worth.

Called QF again, a diff rep says my chasing up of the reward is still pending, but wants to point out that the "21 days after the member has achieved Green Tier" only applies for new GT gain, and that for renewing existing GT the rewards will show up within 21 days of next membership year. Explicitly said "no" when I asked if the 100 SC scenario is possible.

I asked where is this written anywhere, he said that it is not on the website, but they will put it up soon for clarity.

I've been lied to by QF call agents before, but if what he's saying is true, then doubling up on rewards in a single year wouldn't be possible.

My problem was that my 50SC from first achieving Green Tier were credited last August and I achieved all 5 leaves for the second time this August. So I wouldn't have been doubling up at all yet they were still adamant that they'd be credited after my FF year ended in February 2024.

I presume the issue from QF's perspective is that people were trying to game the system to get two lots of SCs in a given membership year and the QF fix to address this means that some who were not gaming may miss out on SCs in a single membership year.

We got a phone call out of the blue from QFF asking if we wanted to claim the Green tier reward early instead of waiting until the anniversary date. Was a bit unexpected to get a call without previously prompting anything.

Same thing happened to me yesterday.
Ofcourse, I took it up 😅

You say "of course" - but this time last year it was a parade of people comparing notes about how they could defer their bonus until the membership year ticked over.

Most would have been on “status keeper” support back then, so deferring made sense. Now those on the status treadmill are looking for any SCs they can get.

With a little while to go until my own year rollover I am assuming I'll be able to earn GT now and bank the SCs just after the new year comes through? Similar to a loyalty bonus, you have a little bit of time to accept it, right?

Do you have GT already or will this be first time? First timers get ~90 days to elect reward from attaining GT (similar to LB).

The recent discussion here indicated that subsequent years as GT you get the reward choice at the start of the new member year - contrary to the Ts&Cs but that‘s how PC/PC+ now works. But the most recent posts suggest reward choice is being granted early. So it’s anyone’s guess what’s happening GT yr 2 onwards….

You'd think that the easiest and most transparent solution would be to backdate the award of SCs or Points to the date the fifth leaf was (partially) coloured in.

Yes, if you retain GT 1 wk into your member year or 1 day from the end, why should it matter. You’ve already had the slime green bar on your virtual card all year and will do so for the following year. Treat it like the LB and give you 90 days to make a choice.

Oh, don’t the Ts&Cs state that….

Already gave GT, retained from earning in previous year, but claimed the bonus sc this year through timing. In any case, I want the SC next year, but already have three leaves so figure might as well do the last two.

If you want the SCs next member year, then that’s easy. Make sure you’ve got the flying offset leaf out of the way and then sit on the last one or two leaves until close to the end of your membership year. The Tassie offset and/or Donation get processed within 48 hrs.

I understand the logic, but experience with GT shows that the rules change with the wind. There's no guarantee that something that is available now would be available later down the line. I would lock it in now.

Thanks @SYD and @Mr H - sounds like a plan, I'll wait until a week or two before the cut over. My fear is that when the wind changes something will happen and I'll be "forced" to take them this year. But in that case, perhaps I can claim next year's next year, and at least it will still count towards LTS...

I made a charity donation and a $1 climate positive delivery in the same transaction. Only the charity donation resulted in a green leaf. Is this how it works now ie. only 1 green leaf per transaction?

Edit: the 2nd leaf ended up coming through a day later.

I did this twice and got both leaves - suggest calling them.

I completed charity donation and offsetting in one transaction without issue. Took a few days for leaves to show though

For my last leaf, which I was going to forgo as don't see much point in this green PR exercise, but come across a city hotel in Melbourne that suited us, coupled with the $50 hotel voucher
Alto on Bourke St, reasonably priced. Claims to be 100% carbon neutral, good on them whatever.
