Qantas is changing, but what will never change is our commitment to rewarding ...

I imagine they'd do what any other airline with a single flight would do - outsource it all.
I'm sure that various agreements would prevent this, especially considering QF have a significant number of ground crew in Perth.

Still costs money - paying both the outsourcer, and doing all the vendor management. As it's not some offshore outstation, the expectation would be that the service be decent as well. My guess is that they figure that this isn't profitable on 1 x 737

if QFi is giving up PER-SIN - then JQi could at least consider an a320 is a row of 2+2, and to start offering some benefits associated with status... such as priority check-in... just to soften the pain a little.

They could sell the J cabin in a 738 as PE

I actually don't think that's a bad idea, but it would set a precedent for other routes of similar length where the J cabin is sold as J on the 738, e.g. Trans-Tasman or SYD-PER.

Has anyone heard anything from Qantas about a cancellation on per to sin. The announcement said affected passengers would be contacted in early March. Their definition of early March must be different to mine.

NO , I have a return flight booked in July , haven't heard a thing, by the way if they change it to Jet* what terminal do they fly to- from can we still go to the lounge etc ?

Have you checked "manage my booking"?

I usually find out that way about changes to my flights. Very rarely does anyone from QF ring me to tell me about changes. Almost never, in fact.

I did once get a text at 3am about the cancellation of a 6am departure though.

Hi,

As Anna said I checked 'Manage my booking' a few days ago and found that I had been moved to Jet* flights on the day (mid June). I rang 131313 and spoke to a very helpful Qantas agent who advised me of my options (including full refund). She indicated that those transferred to Jetstar would receive full baggage allowance and a meal voucher as well as status and QFF points. Also I believe Jetstar pax can access the Qantas Club. I was also offered Qantas via the East coast, Malaysian Airlines via KL or Cathay Pacific via HK (long flights!).

In the end I had heard Qantas were still flying PER -SIN -PER QF77/78 in the July school hols as a seasonal service so she happily transferred me to Qantas flights in July (my holiday arrangements were flexible - hotel easy to change dates etc.). If your original booking is between 3/7 - 21/7 (I think - worth checking) and you were on QF77/78 your flights are probably not affected. If outside those dates you have the same options offered to me.

I'd check your booking first...then ring Qantas.

Cheers

Just checked my booking nothing has changed I flit out July 9 back 30th, in the last month to 6weeks I have had e-mails about the time changes of this flight, went from 1pm 10-55am -9-05 am now 8am this last one was about a month ago, so yes they have been keeping me informed, I realize we will be able to get lounge access but to get lounge access will we have to go change terminals?

Hi Bobe,

If you are flying both Qantas (or Jetstar) then I believe you won't have to change terminals to access the Qantas lounge (Int terminal Perth, Terminal 1 at Changi, Singapore). If the PER/SIN Qantas flights do cease on 21st July then your return flight may be affected. Qantas had indicated they were contacting affected persons progressively so may not have got to your booking yet.

If I try a dummy booking with your dates the booking engine shows no Qantas flight out of Singapore direct to PER on the 30th July, only Jetstar (JQ) or Jetstar Asia (3K). You may wish to confirm with Qantas directly as to whether your original return flight is canx.

Cheers.

Hi bobe,

No worries......hope all works out well for your booking. Qantas were very helpful with the changes I had to make.

Qantaslink don't have ground staff. The airlines that make up the brand do, in this case Cobham, which is not QF.
That's my point, isn't HBA (a non-mainland capital) now served only by Qantaslink?

Not yet, still has 737s for a few months yet.
I will have to hunt through EBAs etc at some point but I would be very surprised if somewhere there was not a clause stating QF could not outsource CS in mainland capital ports, which is entirely reasonable imo

QF is changing all right... and is rewarding dom J pax with Mount Franklin plastic water bottles when you board as opposed to packaged juice and spring water served in a nice glass.......
