ADL-SYD sees me missing out on 195 aquire points per flight. Across 23 pre- March flights that's a few missing points.

Seems that Budget don't include truck hire, bit silly as a truck is more business related than car hire :rolleyes:

Just had a callback. The lady I spoke to seemed to understand what I was saying (that my base points weren't 800 but 1000) but needs to talk to a supervisor of course.

Edit: received a callback within the hour, saying that apparently Aquire didn't launch in March (when I joined), but in August. Thus the rates prior to the end of June were a mistake, then she changed her mind and said a promotion. Ultimately though, the only rates going forward are the current ones, regardless of what QFFP gives you for flights.

It didn't seem like I was going to get anywhere by arguing the point.

But, according to the Aquire Terms: 6.1 Subject to the exclusions, limitations and other conditions specified in this clause 6 and the Airline Earn Table, Members earn Aquire Points at the applicable rate specified in the Airline Earn Table, or in any special offer, for air travel booked and paid for by the Member and travelled by their Aquire Flyers for the Member's business related purposes. No Aquire Points will be earned if the travel to which the booking relates is not undertaken.

*Subject to the Airline Reward Scheme Terms and Conditions, Aquire Points are earned for each segment travelled on Eligible Flights by an Aquire Flyer. A segment is a portion of the journey between two consecutive points listed on an itinerary. The number of Aquire Points is calculated by applying the percentage Earn Rate to the number of Qantas Points earned by a Bronze member in each respective booking class (including cabin bonus and minimum points guarantee if applicable and excluding any bonus Qantas Points which may be offered from time to time) as specified in the Qantas Frequent Flyer Categories in the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program, for the applicable travel date.

Now from my reading of all of that, my emphasis added too, if the QFF program is awarding me the difference (1000 - 800 = 200) so as to meet the minimum points guarantee (or in some cases take into account cabin bonus), then the Aquire program also has to award the difference, as is set out in their own T&C. I don't believe the extra points qualify as a bonus, as they're an adjustment, they'd really have to fight amongst themselves to claim I was getting a bonus.

Would anyone else like to take a look at what I am suggesting?

I can see both ways. A (hypothetical) bronze member would earn 800 points with no adjustment. But then if the bronze booked exactly the same as you (time wise) they'd get 1000 points. Trouble is there is nothing about time of booking.

What is more interesting is that they claim the program launched in August. And nothing before then counts. Therefore shouldn't my first year end in August and not March?

I'd really like an official Qantas rep to explain this as dealing with Aquire on the phone is very tedious. They seem to read the rules all differently and the terms aren't very accurate.

I had a phone call from Aquire about this thread. Thanks Red Roo for passing on the details. I really appreciate the effort of packing the call to discuss the matter.

While I didn't agree in principle. The advice provided was that aquire earns as per a bronze member who books and flys on the same day. The timing of booking doesn't matter. There are also two aquire earning tables that have a cut off date associated with them. The intention was to have earning in this manner without adjustments. (And I agree that I can't see any deception, or that kind of thing, over this point in how I decided to join Aquire).

I can't really comment as I haven't fully explored the T&Cs. I have seen the 2 earning tables, but the meaning of the dates, wasn't immediately apparent to me. Anyway, I have also realised I was wrong about the points I'm missing for adjustments, it must be 60 not 195. For 1200 odd points I'm really not bother chasing this further.

One last thing about the phone call, it has prompted me to pay better attention to Aquire.

I also received a call, but was out at a restaurant so they're calling me back on Monday afternoon. It certainly sounded like I wasn't going to get my way, and now you've mentioned what they told you, I can understand their reasoning, but still think the T&C's are vague and should perhaps be updated considering queries of this type could continue for up to a year following the announcement (March changes to points earning).

It was always going to be a minuscule amount of points, but if the T&C's are wrong, it doesn't matter what the intentions were, you need to fix the T&C's and honour the mistake. That's my view at least. You don't see me getting away with mistakes because my intentions were different ;)

Thanks for the call back, I look forward to a chat on Monday. Also thanks to Red Roo for following this minuscule matter up.

I agree the terms and conditions should be correct. In my case, I'm constrained by not having studied the conditions in detail.

I applied for our Aquire accounts around 10 days ago and today se that 5,000 pts have been creditted to our account and it appears that these can be transferred when needed. We will be unlikely to earn anything like 20,000pts in a year so I will be transferring these before the year is up. Not being well versed in ways of QF should I transfer these all to the one QF account or to our 2 individual QF accounts?

You get 4 family transfers of up to 100k each time a year... so it doesn't really matter, depends where you plan to spend them? You also don't have to transfer them any time soon, you have the better part of a year!

I did get my call back today and certainly see where they're coming from with regards to how the T&C's relate to the program.

The points and status adjustment from the QFFP is intended as a goodwill gesture to those who booked before the announcement, and as such isn't considered as part of the eligible earn. As this issue may come up again, I do hope the T&C's are changed to include more explicit text on the matter.

This thread is monitored by Aquire to see that the program is working well (or not) for members, so if you do pick up issues, posting them here could have them rectified by Qantas without even a call, depending on how frequently they check.

I feel assured in Aquire, but still unsure of whether I'll extract value from the program going into 2015.

Perhaps kalboy's issue (post #383) can be looked into for instance, regarding why truck hire from Budget does not earn, when a truck is more business-related than a car sometimes.

It does raise an interesting point about the main QFF program, about the adjustments being a goodwill gesture. Effectively that means qantas can retrospectively change the program by upto 12 months. Anyone who purchased a ticket before the changes were announced and before 29 March are getting the new earning applied retrospectively plus a good will gesture. Forget 3 months notice, they've effectively given -9 months notice in this case if this is to be called a goodwill gesture.

So I got my 5K points for both my wife and myself today, transferred out and bye bye to Aquire.

It all seems to have worked OK for me from the start. Transferred my credit cards to Westpac business choice and already have 133K points available. You have to be in the right program to get the points, ie our account with Staples doesn't qualify, but the account where we could use points won't make a delivery to KTA. Staples can't explain apart from the fact they are testing the waters with their online section, but not with their phone order section. I think the program is a good bonus for our organisation.

I would say it might even be more of a case of one part of the organisation not talking to the other with respect to what is and isn't allowed, considering they have to give notice, so perhaps some bookings wouldn't have technically been part of what is being called a "goodwill gesture" and thus the issue raises its head again. Exactly why they need clearer T&C's :p

Sorry for what is probably a repeat question but I haven't had time to read all the posts...

If I join today and snag the 5000 bonus points, can I just transfer them straight to my QFF account or is there a minimum number of Aquire points needed before I can initiate a transfer?

Amaroo and medhead have indicated that this is the position and on the basis of their opinion I registered and received said 5,000 points. The points have arrived in my account and whilst I have not tried the transfer yet it would appear they are available for transfer subject to clause 12.3.
From the Aquire Loyalty Program T&Cs;
"12.3 A Member must request in each conversion transaction the conversion of a minimum 3000 (three thousand) Aquire Points or such other minimum amount as Aquire Loyalty may stipulate from time to time."
You will need to transfer a minimum 3,000pts and yes the 5,000 sign on bonus are available to transfer immediately. Be careful if you intend to continue to earn points as you will need a minimum 20,000 point account balance for future transfers...but not this first one.
