Qantas MEL-HKG QF29/30 Delayed; A380 for SYD-HKG route

They should open up eventually. I created a seat alarm on expertflyer to be notified. Worked perfectly.

I'm on QF29 (scheduled to be on an A330-300) on business in October - considering it's quite far away, it 'should' be okay?

The last thing I'd want is to be rerouted via Sydney on an A380 (unless the A380 has the updated / refurbished 1-2-1 business class seats - not the terrible 2-2-2 business class layout).

Looking to avoid the 2-2-2 layout at all costs.

Do you know approximately how long prior to flying it came open? Checking expertflyer it appears some of the seats up front have been taken up but still remains blocked out for me. I assume those taken up are higher status members?

53 days out. I still can't select the first couple of rows. They mightbe available for WP1. Can't say.

I've got a little under that many days but will keep checking in periodically. I assume my lower tier status will be restricting. Will report back when it does open.

none of the A380s with old seatings is in operation atm

I've heard at least 1 A380 with the old config, is in operation?

My flight is direct to HK from Melbourne on QF29 in business on an A330.

Either way, I'd prefer an A330 over the A380 as there is a 100% chance of not having the old 2-2-2 layout in business.

Delayed beyond the June 20 resumption? A couple of weeks ago I posted (different thread) that QF had zeroed all QF29 up to June 19. Today I see that QF29 is still available for sale June 20 onwards but that the previously zeroed June 19 flight has been removed completely.

@BD1959 I am keenly following this thread.
We are booked QF30 September HK-MEL

Last week I noticed aircraft change from 330-300 to 330-200, with new seating allocation (no 5K on the 332)
Able to get the seats we wanted, so no big deal there.
After reading this thread, checked to see if flight is for sale.
It appears QF30 in September is not flying every day of the week now, and that is, of course on a Saturday - yep we are booked for Saturday 23/9 😄!
Will follow this with interest, I check the app daily anyway!

Thanks for the heads up, we are QF30 on 29/6. I have expert flyer alerts set up for any schedule or aircraft alert change, but it’s still showing in the schedule with all fare buckets zeroed out, and can’t book on QF website, so no doubt a cancellation coming and a trip via Syd!

Now if only I hadn’t booked the ongoing VA reward seat to HBA out of MEL…

Fingers crossed for us both, we are not keen to go via Sydney!!
It may work out in the end...
Keep us updated @tassie6 👍

My QF29 flight time (flight is in October) has just been changed from 11:20am to 1:45pm, a bit annoying but not much can be done.

Surprisingly, even due to the coughpy update to Check My Trip (which needless to say, I've deleted the app since the update to the new interface / removed ticket numbers etc), I got the flight change notification from CMT (via email) first.

I then got an email from Qantas half an hour later, which I then confirmed / accepted the change.

My QF29 on Sep 27 has zeroed out ... I think I may be taking a harbour-city detour!!

Regards,

BD

Our QF30 on June 29th has just moved from 2000 to 2155 departure, looks like a bit of adjusting going on
I am booked on July 20th, just got confirmation I am routing through Sydney due to the operational issues. Looks like QF29 will be suspended through to August at the earliest…
