Qantas operated LAX First/oneworld lounges at TBIT

Some good news about the upcoming opening of the First Lounge. Confirmed that it is going to have a restaurant like SYD/ MEL. Sounds promising so far :D
Qantas Los Angeles first class lounge LAX airport - Australian Business Traveller

A lot of big promises and claims made in that article, such as

The superchef himself goes a step further, promising that the new first class lounge “will be one of the best lounges in the world, if not the best” Perry tells Australian Business Traveller.
“I’ll give my children up if it’s not the best lounge in America by a country mile!”

If its lived up to, then with the new immigration procedures at LAX, it would be enough to steer me back to QF and LAX as my main gateway to western Canada (as opposed to Air Canada via YVR).

Fingers and toes crossed :)

Agree. I am getting sick of T4 Flagship Lounge, and the new OW lounge doesn't cut it.

I should be at LAX on January 15, hopefully the First lounge will be opened by then, but I won't hold my breath knowing how unreliable lounge opening estimates can be...

The opening of a dedicated F section cannot come soon enough... it was a zoo in this place last Thurs. Four LAX-SYD/BNE/MEL flights leaving within 2 hours of each other, topped off with additional flights from LA and CX you couldn't get a seat anywhere.

The food trough was also very ordinary but the made-to-order soft tacos weren't bad. At least there wasn't much of a wait for booze at the bar.

OK, this is how I see it playing out.

Very "soon" Red Roo will announce the chance for 12 AFFers to attend a 'soft opening' of the new LAX F lounge. Selection criteria will be the 12 submitting the most grovelling mea culpas for having slagged off at QF in the past 12 months (those who haven't done so at all unfortunately won't be eligible ;) ). Winning entries will be published, along with images of the winners in sack cloth and ashes as they board the QF A380 for LAX (J).

On board all is forgiven, the champagne flows, AJ is on hand to personally thank the AFFers for such magnificent feedback which has made the airline much better. He announces the return of CD at LAX, full cooked breakfasts for J on all international routes, a reversion to the former compact web site, the return of XASAs bookable on the web site, doubling of the number of Award seats on all international routes, the abolition of the 'simpler and fairer' (TM) earn rates, the erasure of the word' enhancement' from the Shorter Qantas Dictionary, and peace in our time with BA and Cathay. Well, OK, I just made that last one up.

After a weekend of sponsored shopping in LA, we attend the new lounge, AJ cuts he ribbon, we all guzzle more champagne, pour ourselves on board the A380 for the return leg and fly QF happily ever after.

I'll stand by for RR's post & invitation. BTW Red Roo, I'm a XL for the sack cloth.

I'll only go if Hoges and Strop are there for the grand opening too.

Re: New TBIT (Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX) opens today

This new business only lounge is pathetic. Just arrived 2 hours before my flight back to Sydney and people are queuing at the door because there is absolutely no seats available inside, in fact they have setup some tables and chairs in the aisle outside the lounge. And I am told there is no first class option either for platinum members. These fools couldn't run a hook raffle. Not good enough. I am considering using another airline in future as I am getting sick of this penny pinching cough when you are getting charged top dollar.

Re: New TBIT (Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX) opens today

And the new business lounge is much better than the old first lounge which was also regularly packed full

Much Better?
It could be finished like the Palace of Versailles inside but what damn good is that if you cant get a seat in it?
The point is that Qantas right now are offering no services to Platinum/ Platinum one or First class travelers at Tom Bradley as far as club access is concerned other than to dump everyone into the same area which is pathetically undersized to cope with the demand.

True - however, due to the lounge capacity (old and new) issues I have generally used the T4 F/L before heading over to TBIT about 30 minutes prior to boarding for quite a few years.

Not the current lounge has capacity for 400 PAX; once completed this will increase by 200 in the Business side and 200 in the First side thus doubling.
