Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Every year Champagne has been sent out even the year I slipped from WP1 to WP. It still made it by some curious computer glitch after flying in the US.

Well if this was in December then that's almost certainly the Christmas "gift" not really a P1 renewal gift (imho)

if it's been at some other time, then well.. you're special :)

Interested to hear your thoughts on 5A. I’ve never sat there due to the galley proximity.

I don't have the most typical F seat preferences - I go for 1A, 1K, 5A, 5K in order. I don't like people looking at me, and these seats have the fewest people/most walls around you. :)

As Princess Fiona said, 5A has the shelf. And at LHR, you're the first off the plane.

This is the first time I've had this selection issue. It's not blocked blocked - i.e., on EF or on the QF selector - like the J bassinet in row 16. But when you do select it, it won't let you continue.

Obviously if there were any babies requiring the bassinet, they would be most welcome to it! But they're pretty infrequent in F.

Hi all,

I like to add data points, both good and bad, so here is another one:

As I recently posted in another thread, I had a flight change by a third party airline within a ticket purchased through Qantas. This caused me to travel a day earlier (losing work time) and an overnight stopover somewhere I did not wish to be. In that thread the consensus was that I would just have to accept this, with no recourse, no accomodation. When I originally phoned the normal QF line they told be to "take it up with the other airline or your travel insurance". Was not happy.

But a single email to the P1 team, and a swift response. They immediately offered to "help" with accomodation, and within a couple of days they sent me the accomodation voucher. I still lose a day, but this was far better outcome than I suspect most would receive.

P1 is not about perks, it is about them helping you when things go wrong - and IMHO they deliver very well in this.....

Got my new card today. Of course the letter was as lame as usual and just the little brochure

but come on QF... both the letter and brochure refers to Epiqure still. It's been QF Wine for what 3-4 months now? Now I could understand the P1 "Journey continues" brochure to be pre-printed, but the form letter with August 9, 2018 on it they could have changed the text in there (and possibly noted "QANTAS Wine (Formally Epiqure)" in there. but no.

Yes, totally trivial and who really cares right? The thing is it just is another example where QF just do not *check* things or have any care for consistency, branding etc. Sloppy.

Nope not Christmas time well into March April after my renewal date end of February.

But curiously on occasions get wine sent to me Christmas time. But renewal always Tattinger 350 dollar bottle

Sat there plenty of times and never really noticed any noise.
If you want to sleep instead of eat breakfast on arrival then I’d suggest keeping the NC headphones in. Depending on the FAs the cutlery and plates in the morning may waken you but other than that it’s pretty quiet.
Having the little extra shelf for your items is good.

Indeed aisle A plus the shelf is why I select 5A given the chance. One downside is tends to be last for meal service which is not ideal at start of flight (trying to get to sleep) but good at end of flight (sleep as long as possible).

Well lucky you.

You must be a high value P1 indeed because this does not seem terribly normal experiences (based on the thread here) so congrats

though I am sure folks reading may well feel this sort of "speial" treatment(or seemingly so) reinfornces the long held belief that there are two tiers of P1 at QF.

Personally I'm not upset or anything. I find it interesting and curious more than anything to jump up and down about.

Enjoy the vino! :D

Agree, I know quite a few P1s personally beside myself and have never heard of them getting anything other than maybe a phone call if we are lucky upon renewal.

Have only been P1 a few years, and doubt I am important to them. I get the bottle of bubbly each Christmas, but that is it. Maybe because I am never in Australia I have never got any phone call on anniversary or such. But something on renewal? My year ends 31 Dec so maybe that is why there is not separate recognition. But I also feel that Marki is on to a special thing :)

Well we know now for a fact that there's at lest two tiers. One being government-employees -- or people classed as such -- who get lower value gifts and no invitations to any events with hospitality and/or free entry to a paid performance or game.

But none of the P1s I know (including a couple of CLP1s) get gifts for P1 renewal.

Please I blush every year on renewal recieve Champagne lucky me. Last two bottles in the cellar can take a picture still in original packaging with something written on it. ( back late tonight)

Currently sitting on elegant PALM ISLAND Airport lounge. ( two pictures attached) I don’t know many P1’s so have not asked. I mentioned it here because I thought everyone was benefiting. Apparently not.

Hello fellow P1s, I am interested to know if any one else has come across this. I renewed last month, new card arrived through to 2019 as per normal. As we (MrsM and MissM) are travelling in the the up school holiday break I asked MrsM had she received a new WP card, answer was "not sure" so I just requested QF send her a replacement.

When it arrived I noticed it expires in the same month as my card but had a 2020 expiry on it, has any one else noticed something similar with the partner WP thing or is it a mistake. The only other thing that I can think of is that my forward bookings for the remainder of 2018 will see me being WP1 through to 2020. I did not think forward bookings count until taken.

Just a bit confused, but I am often confused

I can say without a doubt that we know much more about the breadth of qantas products than the majority of people who work there.

That is weird. I agree with pjm99au that it is not about forward bookings.

Maybe ask for a replacement card for yourself also :)

Her account is no different to what it has been for the past 4 years, zero SC, no miles other than CC spend, no min flights recorded (4).

Maybe ask for a replacement card for yourself also :)

Already done. Each year when I rollover WP1, I ring QF and ask for a replacement card that way I have one for my domestic wallet and one for my international wallet.

I actually have the exact same thing. Qualified P1 in June. My card has a 2019 expiry date and my +1 has a WP card that expires 2020.

I won't requalify this time and it would be a nice surprise if the +1 keeps her WP status

Given the debate on the lack of surety of "soft landings", and my wavering in my QF love, this could be very important for me. Maybe there will be a day I need my wife to invite me into a lounge???!!!!!

There is debate on the soft landing?
