Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Hi Danny

I have had the same thing it seems that as a P1 or CL you can pick any seat the shadow only sits there if the person is Gold or below.

I tested it today I was in 1A on CBR ADL with a shadow if I took my FF number from expert flyer but no shadow when I put the number back in 1D had a shadow that I could not access 1F and as it turns out 1D was a CL.

Hope that makes some sense.

You are spot on pal, thanks for the hint. I changed my FF number on EF & put my wifes in (WP) & yep checked the seat map & I now have a big X next to me seat.

i wonder why it changed from what it was before.

I will leave my wifes FF number in there for now & see how we go.

No flying yet, however I did receive my call welcoming me to P1, explaining the benefits etc. I mentioned I was into aviation and was told that they have simulator sessions on Thursdays and someone would contact me, though nothing yet. Did ask about the last 734 flight while on the line and they also said they'd get back to me, but also nothing yet. Been about a week :p

Congrats & always good to get the call. On the simulator part, I also put my name down for it & promised a call back, which I never got. I didnt bother calling them again as I couldnt make it because of work commitments. So will call again sometime this year when I can make it.

Thanks! I've got 13 months so will certainly be following it up at some stage, but disappointed they haven't got back to me about the final 734 flight yet. I know schedules can change, but I'd prefer to book before I'm priced out... or maybe they just think I'll book at any price so are holding off telling me. Either way, if you say you can do stuff, and you say you will do stuff, when you don't (as the very first request) it doesn't fill me with confidence. Sad really.

Congrats on reaching P1! My advice is to keep expectations as low as possible to avoid disappointment.

Have just completed 3 QFi Flights in Y and one in Y on EK

The crew were definitely more attentive and helpful that previously. The P1 Team were senasational with some unusual requirements on my flight so overall definitely saw a better level of service from QF.

On the down side had absolutely NO RECOGNITION what so ever on EK towards the end of the flight I asked if I could have priorirty customs card and was told I was not entitled to one. I then showed them my P1 card and the comment was ..... And ???? I advised I was entitled to priority clearance and in the end I got one and the CSM finally spoke to me and apologised for not contatcing me earlier. So now that is 2 out of 2 flights in Y with EK with no recognition what so ever. Pretty poor in my eyes.

OT but dont what ever you do Book seat 81A or K it seems to be a galley where the FA's congregate and chat. At one point I counted 8 FA's stood chatting, There is no curtain and the lights in the Galley are on all the time so sleep was impossible.

Not impressed atall with EK in Y. It seems to me that they concentrate on J and F and really dont give a monkey about status passengers flying Y. As such I shall not fly Emirates again !!!!!!

Thats interesting about 81 A/K given its a great seat, even with noise cancelling headphones and the curtains it was still no good?

I have never flown EK as a WP1, but taken quite a few flights as a WP and was never ever given any special treatment above normal service levels (albeit Ive been in the Bar at the back of J for most of the time ;) )

My EK experience is similar to yours. EK also cannot tell the difference between Plat and Plat1.

In regards to concentrating on J/F.... I must admit all my EK flights (on both my QF and EK FF#) have been wonderful. Close to flawless. EK really do premium classes well and they sure do prioritize premium passengers in those classes... after all, they are the ones boosting profits!

Seat 81 A is fine in its self however it is the lack of curtaining compared to say 80A/K on QF where there are curtains to the galley and also side curtains that assist in reducing or preventing light polution in the cabin area thus enabling sleep. I certainly have not come across crew taking out cans and sitting on them in the exit area and chatting....
