I (and many more here) can only hope QF will take you up on your product offer (and any other airline?)
I should have been clear in my supposition regarding requalification - I was under the impression that the "three year average rule", regardless of how high the average is, did not apply to the strict requirements called P1. Probably due to exclusivity I suppose.. and the whole "if you are struggling to meet the requirements, then it probably isn't for you" adage.
I would welcome any personal anecdotes on the matter
Correct. My understanding comes from talking with QF Management at the P1 launch (and at later AFF events), where they expressed that it was a hard and fast rule - BIS, or else drop to Plat.I should have been clear in my supposition regarding requalification - I was under the impression that the "three year average rule", regardless of how high the average is, did not apply to the strict requirements called P1. So it's >3600 plus conditions or nought. ]
....or 1800 SC's with a DSC offer.
Need to make the most of those DSC offers before hitting Plat 1, then.
No joy for those who make the cut.
So, in effect, even if you can reach Plat 1 by maximising a DSC offer, you can't requalify by the same means.
Would be be nice though.

Ah, I think there may have been some confusion about your post 608 above, which some of us have interpreted as meaning that P1 could also be comped depending on the average SCs in previous years.
also didn't the DSC Christmas bonus also apply to all WP1's last year?
(I didn't get to use that offer as i had already pre booked all flights for that period)
I got a VA DSC offer in the e-mail today...... does that count

(More importantly where will I get the 550 VA SC's from in the next five and a half months to retain platinum? )
And no, VA doesn't count! [i have just discovered 200K Velocity points languishing in a rarely used account and have no idea what to do with them. Isn't that pathetic?]
Will add you to my Christmas list, ReLoad. How many toasters would you like?I'd suggest the gift that keeps on giving, multi coloured toasters
After all last thing you need to do is fly more!
Yes it did. But I noticed that those SCs didn't count towards my QF metal flight total when they came through. So they helped with the 3,600 requirement but not the 2,700 requirement.
The double SCs counted towards the 2700 requirement for me. They were earned on Qantas marketed flights.

Wonder if anyone managed to capitalise on that and reach Plat 1, as a result? Very well done, if so, and underlines the benefits of flexibility in travel planning.
