Qantas Platinum One experiences?

I would have to agree with smarty11.

Enjoy it whilse it lasts as there arnt that many free upgrades these days. Not from the goodness of QF's heart thats for sure.

I recall getting an "official" "welcome to P1" upgrade, though it wasn't my first flight after turning P1. I've also been fortunate to have a CSM-initiated on-board upgrade (there was only 1 or 2 other pax in J on the flight, and I was sitting in row 4 and I think the CSM had noticed how worn out I was from the day at work), and have had an occasional upgrade on full flights or due to operational delays etc.

The attention you've experienced so far is great, though it does vary widely from CSM to CSM and from flight to flight, and many other wide ranging factors such as length of flight, how full the flight is, how full economy is, how full J is, how much attention the crew pay to the manifest etc. I've had a CSM come and apologise for not seeking me out to greet me earlier in the flight (due to busy J service), which is entirely unexpected, while I've had flights where I've not seen anyone other than at the door and to hand me my refreshment.

Overall, however, I would say that the attention and response to requests is more pleasant and responsive. It really does come down to the crew you get on the each particular flight, though it doesn't make you immune to instances of poor service either (I had an FA move a pax into 4B next to me after takeoff on a not particularly full flight. Entirely unexpected and unappreciated as I tend to use my shadow to help spread out and get some more work done on the flight).

Overall, you win some, and you lose some. Hopefully you'll be able to retain an edge on the winning side.

I certainly don't mean to gloat, but make that 2 upgrades from 4 flights now. Boarding pass had a special comment on it, "enjoy your flight, mr Heathfield" and they upgraded me at the gate because there was a 'remark' to do so.

Sharing your experience is by no means gloating. You were treated the way an elite FF should be treated (receive upgrade when J is not full), although the personal comment on the BP is above and beyond.

I had a very similar experience in my first couple of months as a P1 - a couple of op-ups and the personalised note on the BP for the second op-up which was a really nice touch. Unfortunately the experienced has dropped off dramatically from that point. Pre-selected seating on Perth flights found to have been changed to poorer seating at the gate , shadows rarely sticking on non-full flights, rarely a csm chat on Perth flights ( I have no expectation of one on Mel or bris flights) no more op-ups even on non full j flights where they have changed my preselected seating. My excitement at attaining P1 has gradually diminished as I have come to realise my expectations would not be maintained. I sincerely hope your experience is everything you want it to be. Whilst I accept this is my issue not Qantas' my expectations were set too high from the initial experiences and I feel somewhat disappointed as a result. Whinge over

Congratulations.. well done..

You can gloat because from my personal experience and reading comments from many on this thread and AFF in general, this is rare. So enjoy and I hope that this trend continues for you.

As long as you backside is not the flag of Japan enjoy. I once remember getting an op up then downgraded at the gate!!

You might want to redact some of the more personal details in that image since this is a public forum.

I figure my name and part of my FF# (or even all of it) isn't a big deal. If someone does 'hack' my account they better have a plan as I check daily and will be going to the police. I'm sure QFF will reinstate my points etc...

I may have been before, but umm... I got another upgrade heading home. 4D to 2C.

Thank you Qantas!

Three upgrades is not a bad run.

I am about 75% of the way to requalifing for P1 (at ~ 2700SC this year), have flown more than 3200SC since originally qualifying for P1 and have only had one official upgrade and one CSM on board upgrade (both domestic).

I have to temper my rhetoric ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1392855671.039480.jpg

Just got upgraded from business to first today !!!!!

Thank you Qantas humble P1 here now!

Have to switch phone off just got pushed back.
Hip hip hooray

for me.. having just requalified for P1 and having flown about 3700 SCs (3200+ on QF) in past 10 months or so.. I have had two QFi upgrades (one was for sure Op-up as many WP and even 1-2 SG got Op-upped on that full flight) and one upgrade on Qf domestic. In addition one CSM on board upgrade (Y to Y+).

Let's see what this year brings!!!.

Did people generally have to wait a while for WP1 status to kick in after passing the 3,600 SCs threshold?

With all the talk of route changes and cancellations next week, I'd like to be WP1 by then in case anything needs to be rescheduled...

About a week give or take.

Your experiences are totally different to what other Platinum One's are experiencing.

See here.

That is incredible. Will qualify for my third year of P1 in the coming months, never have I seen a message like that on my boarding pass. Having said that, I probably get an upgrade once every two months - I do on average 20+ flights per month (domestic). The P1 team have also been wonderful sorting things out when they have gone wrong.

On the subject of special invitations, was anyone invited to a Modern Family event? We went to an event with Ellen last year hosted by Qantas. There were 6 P1s at that function so I'd expect some landed an invite last week to the MF Sydney event?

I will be sadly leaving the rarified air of P1 as of 1March

I will hopefully make the additional privileges ( extra50000) points but getting to 3700 is hard from 2100
