Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Happens to me on both airlines and the excuses are poor or nonexistent.

The staff mentality of moving a Chairmans Lounge to 4D because "That's where I think they'd like to sit" is stupid.

We do not know if this occurred in this particular situation though. Wasn't the suggestion that it was done from SYD, which suggests to me either HDQ made a decision OR the pax called res. It could also well be as in the other situation that the pax showed up and bought a last minute ticket and was given the seat (not that i agree if that was the case, they should take whatever's left, in this case 5D).

I agree this is so trivial but in some ways I actually feel for the BNE Lounge Angel. They've been put in a position by others (assuming they did not make the decision themselves to make the swap, which seems more than likely) on the one hand they want to protect the "brand" (and one presumes the privacy of the CL in question) as well as trying to represent their company, with limited information based on what they can see in the res system which may or may not provide any more detail.. and if it just said pax moved due to CIP or similar, what are they to say? "Hey you P1, we're just not that into you as much as the CL"?

I can think of reasonable reasons for the "lies" such as the "aircraft swap?" - that's half the time a reason for an unexpected seat change. Now grant you 90% of departures out of BNE will be on 73H, but still I know if *I* see a swat change it's usually due to a swap of some sort - I wouldn't call that a specific lie per se but an assumption. The full flight one? yes, seems like a convenient excuse, but better than "you were booted for AJ's favourite neice"

Personally I've never experienced this sort of thing happen, but honestly I probably wouldn't pursue it in this way on a short domestic flight. Not to say I have an issue with what transpired - I'm actually surprised the LA was quite forthcoming with info when pressed - they'd be within their rights, more or less, to just say "seat assignments are subject to change and not guaranteed. I'm sorry sir but this is all I can do for you." I'm also amazed that someone, somehwere in the chain, recovered things.

I wouldn't like to have been the agent who had to explain to the CL who thought they were in 4D they were in 5D either.

It does seem from anecdotal, rather than any real, evidence that a decision was made elsewhere to move that pax - either at their request or at the "discretion" of someone with the appropriate authority to do so. You'd hope this kind of thing wouldn't be done lightly - they must have been a serious CIP to warrant that tbh.

I do not agree with moving pax once checked in and issues with a BP short of mechanical issue or an air marshal or something like that. Perhaps a last minute need to deadhead a pilot or crew member also.

just my 2 cents

Today is my membership anniversary and the end of an unusual year.
Last year I switched most of my international travel from OW to *A and had only 4 flights that earned points (compared to 33 flights with *A!). Naturally, I wasn't at all confident about getting another white card next month.
Most of my domestic flights were red-e-deal fares (some flexi) within the 'golden triangle', no DSCs and no status runs so I knew it's going to go down to the wire this year.
Admittedly I had to pull some strings and convince a client from Perth it's very important that we meet before the end of Feb and then book a couple of flexi tickets that will earn me the last 80SCs missing to hit the magic number.

Looking forward to another busy year of flying and hopefully to retain the status more comfortably next year :)

Well done Boomy, now we just need 40 SC's by the end of March to retain the Gold card.
Looks like a status run coming up, possibly an Adelaide return on the second cheapest fare.

Nice one, boomy!

How many flights did you take to rack up the 3600 SC's?

I suspect the CL never knew about it. It sounds like the CL had not yet checked in, i.e. no BP had been issued. Otherwise the switch back would never have happened.

Adl Mel is only 20 return due to fairer and simpler.

Here is mine:
Do you think QF have noticed or for that matter even cared?

Sadly they will neither notice or care. Mine is at the dizzy heights of 20 and we are now into the 3rd month of the year, normally I would be around 1000 Status Credits at this point.

Last night QF11 was an older 747 with Mark 1 business class seats so I am uncertain if Qantas international have lost my Platinum One wife forever. I guess it will depend on her return flight as we booked in First on an A380. Currently she is catching up on her sleep as you don't get much on that flight in that seat.

Zero! Are you boycotting QF or just not flying.

Not really actively boycotting them per se, but more just trying out other options. Ive got a couple of forward QF bookings in the system but nothing compared to normal numbers. The last few years have been very regular in destinations and patterning so there is some good trends for analysis, so if they were smart it would be easy to figure out where the spend is going to.

I'm certainly not the biggest spending customer on their books (100k Pa) so i guess it doesn't bother them too much.
