Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Here is mine:
Do you think QF have noticed or for that matter even cared?

You have me beat ReLoad. I thought I had cut my QF flying back, but not to your extent (most of my SC are OW partner SC).

Status.jpg

I have not set foot in a red tailed aircraft this calender year (or just over two months now) which is my longest gap between QF flights for over eight years. When I finally do (later this month to MEL), it would be my longest period not flying on a QF aircraft for 13 years (or since coming over from AN).

My drop in QF flying is a 'protest' on the elimination of QFi from PER (all my ex-AU international flights this qualification year have been on EY and SQ) and the very poor/lack of service I have received as a P1 (on the whole, lower than when I was WP). QF have not noticed my 'protest', but my bank balance certainly has, as a personal BFOD policy has saved me a large amount of money versus flying solely with QF.

QF should note that my overall flying has not reduced however, as if you add my current QF and VA SC together, I would still be on track to retain QF P1 this year (with no bonus SC, MASA etc either).

It seems that QF just don't care.

Surely the P1 Team who as they say monitor your flights to ensure all things go smoothly would have some sort of analysis tool to see who is dropping off and who has dropped off so that QFF could proactively contact them to see what is wrong and get some REAL feedback.

Like yourself my flying hasn't changed much however other than now being BFOD domestically, with the loss of MASA I had planned to do some more over seas trips to compensate for any shortfall but now have decided to keep the money in the House of Ansett :) Much to Mrs Ansett's pleasure.

100k spend? that's FAR more than I spend in a year with QF. yikes!

re P1 team monitoring. I suspect with that aspect they just get alerts or whatever from the res system on P1 PNR's that are delayed or whatever. I wonder even if it is their function to "monitor" (keep track of) P1 members spend or even pending bookings, or would that be a separate function within QF sales or even marketing? I always thought of the P1 team as mostly operational with the other part being the gifts/inducements etc side, but I considered them more operational in nature. Of course I don't know the exact nature or scope of the team's jobs. :)

Do they care? on an individual basis probably not - because they probably wouldn't notice unless a particular customer is a CIP/VIP and probably CL anyway. I don't know though that "care" is the best word though. Corporate-wise the movements of individual customers are not going to be much of a blip on the radar, but I am certain individuals at various levels in the organisation absolutely care.

At the end of the day the corporate mentality is probably one of if one person stops spending, another will come (maybe someone annoyed with VA, or new sales contract or whatever). What probably would make impact is a TREND (eg: 10's or more of P1's all showing declining revenues/spend etc). Individuals "protesting" with their feet (ie going elsewhere) - probably not much of a blip.

I'm less than a blip to QF :)

We know reps from QF watch this thread so maybe it's good idea for members who gave up their P1 status and now fly with other airlines or keep flying on QF metal but credit to other FF programmes to list the reasons for their decision. I'm talking about things the P1 team may have power to change in the short term to win back some business.
In the end it's all about numbers and if the airline can make a few improvements that will not cost much but will keep it's high flyers (and high spenders) loyal, they may decide it's worth it.

Twice in the first half of February I arrived in SYD from overseas and was seamlessly transferred onto earlier flights to CBR that meant I was much less tired a few hours later than I would have been otherwise.

I'm also 1-1 on requesting award flights, having got the one that was more important to me.

Not a high flyer in the big scheme of things, and can't think of a whole lot of other things I've needed while P1.

I'll kick it off....
3 calendar years as P1 - no free upgrades until my last flight as P1. By that time I had decided to switch my biz around.
As a result I also stopped sending points (1m/year+ from flying/cc) to QFF and now warehouse for other airlines.

Fix: Upgrade P1s more often.

Fix: Upgrade P1s more often.

Which requires F, J or W seats to be available at the last minute, which is probably the problem. Unless you're suggesting that P1s should get comp upgrades ahead of those other FFs who are upgrading with points .........

Don't think anyone expects to get an op-up if premium cabins are full but more often then not (at least on domestic flights) J is not 100% full, even on 737s, even on peak hours. There is no reason to leave empty seats. The simple solution is last minute gate upgrades but QF usually upgrades only when the class below is over-booked.

I have discussed all of my issues (in detail) directly with QF on many occasions and they have decided not to address any of them (we are sorry, it was a system failure, that has never happened before, we do not service JQ/EK code share flights even though QFi has abandoned PER so you are on your own, we did not know you were there/delayed, we have reseated you in a different (QF code for inferior) seat etc). You can only put up with so many service failures before giving up on them.

At the end of the day, the service failures as a P1 (for two years now) has destroyed my 13+ year relationship with QF and I have filed for a divorce.

I have only been P1 since Oct 14 - my first year and have had nothing but praise for the P1 team - 8 upgrades with pts, 4 upgrades from P1 with nice note on boarding pass, nice bottle of wine for Christmas, points flights for family and now tickets to World Cup cricket. Each phone call is very positive and the team very helpful with flight changes, even overseas. I might be lucky!!!

You're doing well. 1.5 years as P1 and haven't received what you have in 4 months. It's the inconsistency I experience as a P1 which really gives me the Tom cough

On my present prospects I won't get P1 again, so its been nice whilst there. Must admit do a lot of flights 2013/4, which might have ticked some boxes at QF.

Problem with the "fix" to give more "free" upgrades to P1's is that it then creates expectation and in some a sense of entitlement(that isn't meant to suggest anyone reading this in particular, just a general comment). Me, I'd rather have it as a every so often kind of thing (note: 2.5 years as P1 and 1 upgrade at the lounge where I offered points as an ODU and told no it's on us cuz you're P1 on SYD-MEL).

I mean you get on a plane and see an empty seat in the next class up would you then expect it "should" be yours? I dunno about that.

I've never requested special award seats be opened or anything like that so can't comment on that aspect of P1-dom. Have had a few interactions with the P1 team over the journey and on the whole very good. No real issues. Then again I don't really expect much :D (easy pleased camper I guess)

Currently I'm within (taking into account future bookings) ~400 SC's of retaining P1. I'm not sure if I will or not. Just have to see.

You're blowing 100k a year on biz/first class flights and don't expect more op-ups than some Silver & Gold members get?
You're the perfect customer! :p

Damn straight I expect free upgrades as P1 and you should too.
"Positive discrimination" as one AFF member puts it.

Fact is some of QF's high flyers and high spenders are leaving, each for their own reasons and every reason is valid. When someone is loyal to a certain airline he is entitled to expect special treatment as a "reward" for his loyalty. The owner of my company for example is top tier at one of the US airlines and they treat him like god, probably even better then QF treats it's CLs but the major difference is he earned his invitation "the hard way" through flying and spending.
When QF created P1 it also created high expectations. After all it's 3 times harder to achieve then WP! In reality instead of adding significant benefits to it's new top tier, QF slowly reduced the value of WP to make P1 more attractive. When people ask me how good P1 is, I usually say: "remember how WP was like when it used to be the top tier? That's basically how P1 feels now.
I'm not spending that much money on QF to expect "God like" treatment so I take what they give me and stay loyal but if I were one of those high spenders I would probably shop around for better options. I hope someone at QF will be smart enough to do something that will keep the big spenders from leaving (maybe offer them CL status :p).

Luckily I don't spend even half of that so.....

I see the point of course. Maybe I am just a different kind of animal lol

now QF if you're listening isn't that worth a bottle or two of La Grande Dame sent my way? :D (kidding!!!)

Well I don't consider myself a big spender and probably neither does QF, 100k might seem like big bikkies but in isolation to an airline it isn't a lot really.

What ive got from being P1 over hundreds of flights;
My wife and I had lunch on the QM2.
Ive got 1 Intl opup and 2 Dom Opups.
Some nice books at christmas.
ability to book row 4 in whY.
Most points upgrade requests have come through.
The have helped me out of a pickle with booking/connection issues twice. (this is the thing I value most) sounds wanky, but my time is the most precious thing I have and always seem to run out of.

What more could they do for me? Thats the great question and ive got 2 simple ones that cost them bugger all.
If there is a spare seat on the plane when it takes off make damn well sure its next to me, make it the last seat you fill.
Release FF seats, we realistically don't need or use them that often (if we did we wouldn't be P1 as you dont get SC from FF seats) but when we want to use them, LET US USE THEM. could not get a single FF seat released in J MEL/HNL for a 45 day window from JUL to the end of August - even there was I class availability. Puuuuuhlease.

I love Qantas I really do, I feel at home on board, and when they get it right there is no better service in the world. - yes its true, NONE better (when they get it right)

I dont know if im a valued customer, im asuming i am. but of late ive decided to see if other people love me too. proof is in the pudding I guess.

The world works in mysterious ways. Opup today with a nice note from P1 team on BP(a first for me)

And 10 minutes after checking in I got a ping that an upgrade to F to lax next week came through.

Mysterious yet wonderful ways.

Perhaps I shouldn't have had that affair.....
