Qantas Platinum One experiences?

IMHO QF are doing a really good job of most things at the moment. My only continual irritation is seating. Lack of shadows in row 4 is so frustrating. Or 23. I do approx 6 domestic flights a week, almost always in Y.

It's usually due to late seating allocations so one solution is asking the lounge angel to block the middle seat.
I must admit I rarely do that (same as you, too many dom flights every week, can't be bothered dealing with this stuff) but when I do ask I usually get it blocked and often notice the opposite row has no shadow. It may also explain why sometimes I loose my shadow while the opposite row keep theirs.

I'm yet to see messages, sneaky or otherwise, from the P1 team lol. I feel slightly left out of the "club" :D

but then again I am almost always in the highest class of service one way or another so op ups are not really a factor. :D

Because I make it my business to look at their boarding passes. I am not presuming

Mmm. MrP doesn't use a boarding pass and he's WP. MasterP doesn't use boarding pass and he's bronze.
I don't use boarding pass and I'm about to be SG. Both often swap their Q tag so MrP often has bronze, silver gold or plat in play.

And if people are silently checking them I find that a bit creepy actually.

Glancing at someone's boarding pass that they leave sitting on their lap or sticking out of the seat pocket is not really creepy. I have no interest whatsoever in who they are and if they are overly concerned about status privacy they can of course put their boarding pass away!

Silently?

If boarding passes are so important and contain sensitive information you don't want others to see then perhaps the owner needs to ensure they are secure.

Holding the boarding pass in hand flashing the information or leaving a boarding pass in the seat pocket doesn't mean one needs to shield their eyes and look away? And the concrete outside the terminal isn't the place to throw the boarding pass away after the flight.

Double shadow for my NB colleague on this mornings flight ;)

First time I've had a shadow in row 4 in a while too as a lowly WP.

Just got a call from the lovely Yvonne (spelling?) that my flight LAX/SYD on Saturday I've got 21K (that's all the had left in J) and they can put me in 17 if I wanted.

I've never had a call like that before, it's very nice of them to offer.

I'll stick in 21. As 17 is too close to the galley, and I've got a F request in anyway.

Nice work QF.

Well thats a bummer, as I live in WA i hardly ever get to the east, am going to MEL in 2 weeks, I didn't realize that the exclusive Rock Pool offer was only offered for a short time, I used it once! To my surprise it ended last october (lol on me for not noticing this) so I rang the SST & spoke to sue & she politely told me it was an offer that finished in october, & mentioned a number of people used this & found it very helpful, she suggested ringing rock pool & mentioning I'm a P1 member from Qantas & too see if there was anything they could do to book me in at a good time, currently only after 9pm dinners available. So fingers crossed, that works.

I asked Sue, so how many P1 members are there these days, she mentioned QF work on 0.01% of frequent flyers are P1 (10million members, so 1000 P1's)

Interesting fact

Very interesting. QF are usually very cagey about those figures.

I hope Sue doesn't get into hot water mentioning something like this... Though really it's just rule-of-thumb heuristics.... when I was P1, Sue was always a very helpful member of the SST, along with many of the other team members I dealt with.

Oh nah, she was great about it, mentioned they are not allowed to say how many people are have what status's, but she said she was allowed to say that QF work on 0.01% of frequent flyers are P1, she'll be fine, lovely laddie, as I have dealt with her before.

Really 1,000 or 5,000, or 3,872 or whatever... we know it's a small % of the QFF membership. I certainly doubt *I* am in the "top"(people's definitions will vary!) number of QFF flyers status wise.. in fact I laugh at the notion tbh.. and I don't really care how many there are. It is what it is. I think I read somewhere the SST team is ike 7 or 8 people? maybe I'm wrong there, but even that number could give some an indication of how many people they're there to "handle"

but eother way it is an interesting idea I guess, but any number could be bandied about and it could be accurate or not and of course it's ever changing as people make, or lose, the status as in the 1st of every month the number will change one way or another :)

Im happy they are there and to know that they can be reached for help. Luckily I've never had to, but it's nice to know. :)

1,000 P1s sounds too low. I was told once there are 3,000-3,500 members but maybe most of them lost or just let their status drop after all the recent "enhancements" ;)

This evening my status changed (regardless of what the AFF verified airline status says currently) :(

Was starting to think they'd just leave me at P1 ;) but I guess I can live with being a lowly WP :p

............
And I'm noticing that I'm being reseated more frequently. On the plus side, much appreciating the occasional Op-up from the P1 team with sneaky boarding pass messages. Love them.
What sort of messages ?

We love you?

We seated you next to a NBFF just for fun ( to annoy you)

I am kidding of course :)))

I would be annoyed to with this sort of treatment ( I try to upgrade)
