Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Yep - some great thoughts trippin_the_rift. I like your strategies 2 and 3. While some risk of further inflating expectations, how great would it be to have some nice surprise as part of the welcome back email - based on previous feedback or say a forward booking ("we've given you a free upgrade for your flight next week"). Would make me feel way more positive.

Agree with RichardMEL and trippin_the_rift, they can do more for the elite QFF, I requal for P1 during June15 with anniversary end Sept, got the books, but no email, will probably have to wait until Oct or Nov.

Not sure if this is a P1 specific story - but a good experience so thought I should post.

Based in Canberra so I'm in the Dom J lounge a bit. See familiar faces among the staff. About 10 days ago sought some assistance from the desk attendant. She couldn't help / advised me to check before my next flight in Melbourne. Anyway, 6 days later I return to CBR and coming off a flight I pop up to the lounge to grab a water or juice as I'm very thirsty and knew I could enter the lounge. I fumble for the boarding pass, show her the wrong one (an earlier one) but she remembers me specifically as a P1 and let's me in. I'm gone in about 90 seconds anyway.

Fast forward a week and late evening I'm dropping someone at the airport before she flies to Melbourne (QF Y) and the on to KL on EK F. At check-in told no lounge access as I suspected (she is QF Silver only) but to head up anyway and see. I see the same attendant at the J desk so wander over and get a nice greeting from her. We stop to explain that I'm not travelling but my companion was and though we didn't think we'd have access to a lounge in CBR she is travelling on EK F etc - before finishing the explanation she took a quick look at the BPs and happily waved us through. It's a very quiet airport at 8pm but was still nice to sit and have a drink and a quiet farewell in the lounge.

Not sure if it was P1 related or just a good staff member - but a nice experience in any event.

May I ask what books??

Thought those were a Christmas gift in the year I wasn't P1. If that's supposed to be standard on attaining P1 - love the fact I didn't receive.

Hate to rub salt into the wound, but I was fortunate enough to get a set to celebrate the opening of the PER-SIN flights and I am a lowly WP:)

It pays to be vigilant.....

On a A330 in whY in 23A. Got to the airport early, on a flex ticket so got moved to an earlier flight, she said I've got the same seat for you, great I thought. So sat down to check equipment and sure enough it's a 737...... Same seat indeed, not. Bugger all else so got 4E. Sorry to the two shadows I ruined on 451 today ;)

WOW. Paging dfcatch - this, to me, is way worse than J on a 747 vs a 380. How could they not notice 330 v 737 and what a significant difference this is? sheesh!

The only reason I noticed was the low Sequence number for an A330, so I thought I'd check. Bloody lucky I did or I'd be a very grumpy cat.

I've had a few seating dramas of late, combined with a few op ups. It's really a big hit or a huge miss of late.

My issue wasn't J - it was Primo Y on 388 to coughpy Y on 744.

Yes - ReLoad's issue is poor - but it's not a substitution - he voluntarily moved, at the airport, to an earlier flight, on a flex ticket.

However - poor form by the Agent to assume the seating was the same.

ah yes, poor form by me to write J vs the Y situation you were in. My apologies for that.

Yes, sure, the choice was the pax's to change to an earlier flight. Absolutely very different to an unwanted/asked for sub.

Just that oh hey you had that seat on the 330 and it's the same on the new flight to not note the 737. That was all :)

Phew, that was close!!! Just made the magic 3600 with 7 days to go!!! It's been a lot harder with the new rules and cut backs on business class on the East Coast-West Coast routes so I just scraped through rather than blitzing it in previous years. I've been a P1 since its inception and I would have certainly been booking a status run this weekend if I hadn't quite made the grade. For all the critique that sometimes appears on this forum I appreciate the service that the P1 team gives and wouldn't have been happy maintaining the amount of flying I do without the nice touches that come with P1
