Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Family member been offered a promotion with lots of travel. I estimate about 7,000 SCs in first 12 months.
So will make P1.
They would like to know how that impacts on J classic award availability to Europe, for example?
I've never been higher than Bronze, so cant advise them.

Well, P1 has mire access to limited inventory than any other status level - but only for QF operated flights. So for europe, this is pretty limited to LHR, soon CDG and FCO seasonally. There is no influence on any partner reward availability eg EK.

Some rewards have been released in J and F on the 1/2 (LHR) to members, but one of the hardest routes to crack even for P1.

So there is an "impact" but it's nowhere as easy as it is for other routes/areas (and of course, much easier for Solo pax vs 2 or more).

As a P1 you can get access to D and I inventory and if the bot says no you can request a manual review. As @RichardMEL mentioned AU to the UK is one of the harder routes to get seats released but in saying that as a P1 it is sometimes easier to get F seats released.

Have you/they considered crunching the numbers for BAEC? That amount of travel should get them to Gold Guest List I would imagine.

I know it's off topic for this thread, but if they are interested in premium awards to Europe, one of the GGL benefits is 2 x 'jokers' annually which guarantee up to 5 x BA award seats when certain revenue inventory exists.

Among other benefits it includes OWE for a partner (similar to the P1 benefit) and OWS for two others. Also Hilton Diamond. Plus BA lifetime OWE is far more achievable than QFF....

Which region(s) would they be flying to most frequently?

Was just thinking along the same lines... if you're doing 7,000 SCs on QF in a year; you're probably doing something wrong

I was also thinking along the same lines as @sudoer

There's definitely enough (apparent) premium travel there to both diversify programs eg BA/SQ or whatever depending on the travel patterns - even getting P1 and 3600 and then looking elsewhere for benefits.

Of course employer travel policy, corporate contracts etc can have influence (ie if tied to QF, BFOD or gives more carte blanche to the pax) but I would look to maximise benefits both from the known travel patterns (eg BA makes less sense if mostly USA travel) but also to the potential uses for leisure (such as the query re euro reqard requests).

If it were me, I would aim to spread travel alover two of the three major alliances with a view to flexibility when it comes to rewards. Far more options - specially if looking for premium european travel options.

It will be regular premium travel to London and back, so BA would make sense. For my money, I'd choose SQ but didn't want to be disloyal on this thread. Also we don't know the company travel policy re carriers so may be forced to use QF.

A real plus for BAEC is that it doesn't discriminate against flying on partner airlines like QFF does - the earning tables are actually simpler and fairer. This will drastically improve their earn if the company preferred carrier is not QF, or in BFOD scenarios (take your pick from QF/BA/CX/QR/JL/MH/UL)

SQ has a great product but no lifetime status if that's important. I don't think PPS Solitaire can request award inventory either - although SQ inventory is very very good to start with.

Not specifically answering your question - but I’d assume your boarding pass would only show you as Oneworld emerald, so unless you told the lounge about P1 they wouldn’t otherwise know?

MH BP's print Platinum One. Have done in the past at least. AY just show the FFPO code.

But yes in general, non QF will just show Plat or OWE that is true.

My assumption is that Emirates are regarding it as Emirates Platinum rather than simply/incorrectly putting the QF status on there

The reason I say this is because in the Emirates app it clearly says ‘Emirates Skywards Platinum’ next to my name, even though I a NB with them.

Noticed this in the QFF T&Cs:

21.8.3 When Members choose to receive Loyalty Bonus Status Credits, those Status Credits will count towards attaining or retaining Silver, Gold, and Platinum, and attaining Lifetime Silver, Gold and Platinum. For Platinum One attain and retain:

• when chosen before 14 July 2020, Loyalty Bonus Status Credits will not count towards attaining or retaining Platinum One;
• when chosen between 14 July 2020 and 31 December 2024, Loyalty Bonus Status Credits will count towards attaining and retaining Platinum One; and
• when chosen after 31 December 2024, Loyalty Bonus Status Credits will not count towards attaining or retaining Platinum One.

Loyalty Bonus Status Credits will not count towards the next Loyalty Bonus, the Platinum Bonus Reward or other Platinum One additional benefits.

Loyalty Bonus SCs won't count towards Platinum One from next year.

Considering P1s need 2700 SC on QF it's a 250-300 SC difference.

Not a huge number for most P1s I imagine, but it's still one more international J trip for those close to the attain/retain target.

Maybe there are a glut of P1s just hitting the 3600 mark (and potentially shifting some flying to other alliances) and QF is trying to squeeze a few more bucks out of them?

Are you sure these count towards the 2700? I thought it just counts towards the rest.
