Qantas Points Club Discussion

This is interesting.

1. Does this also provide access to HBA/AKL?
2. Is it PC or PC+ that qualifies for the priority access?

What would be good is if there is any benefits to using the F lounge as PC/PC+ ex-SYD/MEL?
My experience, as PC+, is that the priority is only for the frequent Flyer centre to ask questions about points. If you ask anything to do with bookings you will be put back to the switchboard and sent overseas as per your status.

PC+ gives QC membership. Realistically you wouldn't expect QF to give a benefit to PC+ over and above a QC paid membership.

PC+ gives QC membership.
Probably something is asked & answered earlier - I qualified for PC+ last year and will be PC+ until Dec 2023. I'm QF WP. Say, in a few years time, I drop to Silver and won't have lounge access as part of my tier. Now, is it possible for me to stash away the QC membership to be used at a later date? The answer is probably a resounding No, but wanted to ask.

I don’t believe so but with status extensions nobody would actually have done this yet to find out. I do believe that if you had paid QC membership that is put on pause while you get PC+ membership. PC and PC+ were designed to give crumbs to people who did not earn status through flying. It is not supposed to be as good as status and it would be odd if it gave significant additional benefits to status holders.

Agreed Mr H, PC+ puts your regular QC membership on hold so in essence you get an extension of a year per PC+ yearly achievement.

As the extensions are drying out, we will see more people taking up the QC as a result of their spend on the ground.

The very good news is that if you have a life QC membership, then PC+ qualification pauses this and lets you use the lounge when you’re dead.
You may as well be comfortable while youre still on the phone to the call centre trying to work out your missing/cancelled/FUBAR flights (while you're dead).

It is not all good news. Whilst you are living it up dead in the lounge Qantas is busy deleting all your points. o_O

Hi folks - looking like I'll achieve PCP this year, after recently obtaining the QF Premier Ti card and its forthcoming and rather chunky 150K QFF points SUB!

Just wanted to check if I'm missing something here... but it looks like the only incremental benefits for me as an existing QFF WP + PC member are the 100SC rollover, and some extra hotel and wine voucher value. In part it seems like a downgrade, as I can't gift the QP membership, whereas I can gift the PC lounge invites.

Cheers,
Matt.

Spot on - but I am taking the 100 SCs this year plus the 40% roll-over which essentially means that I only need to achieve 260 SCs to retain gold this year. This is great as some of it will be done on QF1 as Reward. So quite a cheap year to retain Gold given the economical restraints and no company travel yet.

That seems to be the consensus. Although some chatter about future improvements.

Are you LTG? Curious if the QP at least extends the underlying QP membership should one drop below SG. For those in that situation.

As mentioned previously, the PC and PC+ were not intended to be attractive to WP members. They were created to offer some scraps to non-status members who collected a largish number of points from non-flying activity. They are intentionally less good than precious metal status.

IMHO, the SC earn on award flights with even just base PC is incredibly valuable for those maintaining/attaining status and sitting on a stash of points. It breaks that dilemma of using points or cash to fly if you’re on the status treadmill. Brilliant.

Through some sort of smoke and mirrors (no cards were churned), I just retained PC for another year, six mths into my membership year. But yep, as a WP/LTG the additional hurdle to get to get to PC+ for 100 SCs just isn’t worth the effort. Good if you can get anyway.

I'll be LTG before I ever drop from WP :) About 12-18 months left until I hit it, I reckon

Definitely agree on the SC earning for classic awards benefit. I've effectively stopped flying Y, nowadays, and so stopped hoarding points for INT upgrades, and have been using them instead to buy all my DOM seats as classic business awards, which earn roughly the same as Y flex.

Cheers,
Matt.

You do get the 10% of wine - which actually brings some of the special wine offers down to a price cheaper than the usual wholesale merchants (Dans etc)

I hadn’t noticed that before. Also rewards store discounts - handy for Green Tier!

Yeah,I would have thought the benefits of PC+ for a WP outweighed the 2 x lounge passes they no longer receive to pass on.
