Qantas Points Club Discussion

Forgot to come back to confirm. I followed up with two calls and an email and they were posted (did not count to ltsc) and another week or so if follow up to get green tier, which finally landed this week

I expect to crack the 350,000 point mark for the first time later this month and qualify for Points Club plus. I see i will be granted Qantas Club membership. Does this occur straight way or do i have to ask them for it?

I have a classic rewards domestic flight over Christmas for me, plus wife and child. Will my newly minted QC membership be enough to get the whole family into the lounge?

Thank you.

I'm not sure how quickly the QP membership is activated after you attain - I have PCP, but am also WP, so don't get any benefit there - but can confirm that as a QP member, and presuming your flight is QF/JQ/EK operated, and you are planning to visit either a Qantas Club or Qantas operated International Business lounge, or the EK Business Lounge in Dubai (only), then you and your wife and child (of up to 18 years) will be able to enter.

More on QP lounge access:

and, specific to children as guests:

Cheers,
Matt.

You will get QC immediately when you get PCP. It might take a little bit for PCP to register but once it does QC should appear at the same time.

You should be able to bring your wife and child into Qantas Club.

Somewhat stupid question, but does Qantas Wine count towards the "Qantas Points earned 'on the ground' (e.g. from credit cards, car hire and insurance)" category? Would assume so but can't find anything definitive.

Thanks. Seems like an interesting way to boost up to PC or PCP whilst buying points for "cheap". Hmm.
Especially with the new subscription option. 150k points, although only 120k of them will be in over 12 month period.

That's with high end wish reds pack.

Yea I saw that. One wine subscription gives PC after a year. Two subscriptions PCP plus an RTW award in J. It's a lot of wine, but the value for money is interesting.

Just realised the rollover credits haven't appeared on my account either (year commencing 1st October), so guess I'll also be making a phone call :(
I finally got around to calling last Friday and the 100 SCs showed up today. The agent explained there was a glitch with the Sept/Oct rollover dates and their SCs didn't get triggered.

Interestingly, QF's tactic seems to be to address the issue reactively only when people ring up. I would have thought it relatively straight forward to do this proactively once they became aware of the fault. I'm guessing it would be a matter of filtering the database for the affected dates and fix the problem manually, perhaps even going the extra mile and sending out an email to those affected saying what happened and what they'd done.

But that would require having good customer focus...

If I were to transfer some points between QF Business Rewards to my personal account. Does anyone have any data point time frames as to how long it takes to register against personal for PC+?

I may or may not need to use it, (2 months to go), I should hopefully make it without the transfer, but if I'm down to the last couple of days, I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by transferring too late and missing the window for it to be recognised for PC+.

The transfers I've made have all been instantaneous/within a minute when it comes to showing up on my personal activity statement. Can't say that I've checked if there was any delay until they was recognized in regards to the Points Club Plus accrual balance but I doubt it.

It’s a new feature that up-to 20K points from QBR to a personal account count towards PC/PC+.

A nice way to stretch the existing 20K limit from flying (although QBR points can come from flying, cars, wine, hotels and other partners!).

Yeah, I like that the feature is there, but I'll leave it until the last day or two and only transfer across what I need to do, in order to hit PC+ if I don't quite get there. I've only got around 40k points to go, and an almost empty wine rack as well....I'll probably hit it without the need of transferring from QBR.
But was still curious.

Thanks guys!

Way back on Page 42 of this thread, there was a question asked & answered about earning SC & QFF points when redeeming Classic Rewards through QF for an Emirates flight. Qantas Points Club Discussion

I find the wording on the Points Club T&C to be rather misleading/devious.

* Since this original post above, has anyone challenged this with QF ?

Today I was searching for reward seats from MEL to DBX return on the QF site and came across some with Emirates that suited me with QF flight numbers.... QF8409, QF8406

The QF booking site continued to display QF flight numbers.... all the away up until AFTER the booking was completed, then switched over to the EK409 / EK406 numbers on the confirmation page. (and the subsequent e-Ticket)

The wording on the Points Club website says "Qantas marketed flights with QF flight number".

These flights were/are being "sold" as QFxx_x on the booking site. There is nothing in the T&C about QF-operated flights or QF metal only.

As far as I'm concerned, I purchased these flights from Qantas, on their booking site, where they cleary advertise them with QF flight numbers... not EK. And when the time comes for boarding it will be up there as EK409 / QF8409 + whatever other code-shares apply.

QF's own wording on this page even seems to agree with me. In the sections [Marketed Flight Number] and [Qantas Codeshare flights]

Anyway... split milk under the bridge and all that good stuff... lesson learnt, weasel-words etc...

Unfortunately most QF Classic Rewards book into the operating carrier code. This was more obvious when there was a seperate booking engine for award flights. The new websites will switch from QF to EK for codeshares once you select Classic Reward.

There’s also a raft of issue with this booking whY redemptions. Potentially no lounge access and other OW privileges… Less of an issue for EK but trips people up booking FJ or non-OW QF partner flights.

- It is the case of booking partner flights with classic rewards. Since QF-EK have their partnership, lounge access + baggage allocation is no problem but no status credits on partner reward flights. Only a few exceptions like Aircalin where the QF code remains after the reward flight selection.

re: points transfer from business rewards - I know that up to 20,000 points from business rewards will qualify for PC. However, if another QFF member transfers over their points, is there a limit on how many points will be considered for PC qualification?

Don’t think family transfers are considered towards points club . Otherwise members would just transfer points in and out . Besides the focus is on ‘earning ‘ points .
