Thanks @Bindibuys@Flyfrequently - what you REALLY have to look for is when you are making the booking, the system will show your “total” points, but when you complete your booking and print out the first page (the one I pack) you MAY find it only shows the basis points.
This is when you know you are going to have to chase your extra points after the basis points have hit your account.
This seems more prevalent when Q have 6 or 9 point bonus sales. (There is a 6 point on now)
You will get that sale basis, but not your PC or PC+ bonus 25/50%.
I take screen shots during the booking process.
If my printed out receipt show a total of ALL my points, then I should be fine, but I have had so many that print out wrong, that I now take this precaution.
The printed total is what QF will send to your account.

To be precise I think you are saying domestic flights operated by another airline for Qantas (i.e. Sun State Airlines, National Jet Systems, etc.). I am hoping that there is something bizarre out there like the current loophole of booking JetBlue flights with an AA flight number to earn QF status credits (will be sad when the NEA goes away early next year).The only QANTAS marketed (QF flight number) classic reward flights are the QANTAS operated ones.
As a Platinum I don't think it'll be that hard to find long haul awards calling them in, particularly if I have no preference on connection points (i.e. YVR to SYD via SFO versus YVR to SYD direct). What I will say is not all redemptions are made equal when it comes to status credit accrual. For instance, both Santiago and Vancouver require the same number of points to book a business classic award. However, Santiago will earn you just 64 status credits versus 72 for Vancouver.It’s much easier to find domestic economy classic rewards than say long haul international business. A lot of Points Club members here will try to book classic rewards during a DSC promo if they can.
Whether it's worth it remains to be seen. Supposing you can use the included vouchers there's at least $100 in value there. Whether a classic award booking will make or break it for you for status really depends on the status you'd like to attain, and how close you are to it. Whilst 72 status credits isn't a lot, it's nothing to sneeze at for someone looking to retain Silver status.I haven’t had Points Club yet, but hope to get it at some point.

afaik there aren't any partner CR that carry QF codes even if QF does codeshare on the route. If there are and people are getting this, it would be niche and also one of those unspoken things I imagine.
- The benefit of earning status credits on Qantas marketed classic awards suggest that it may be possible to find classic award flights operated by another airline but which carry a Qantas flight number (and hence are eligible)? Any insight on that? If I look at Qantas' core partners of AA and British Airways they both state that classic award flights will carry the operating carrier's flight number and not QF. But would love to hear of any interesting edge cases where QF marketed, partner operated flights occur for classic award.

That is true. QF can only unlock seats for their own operated flights. But that also means that if you can already find open partner availability for the connecting flight than all should be good. And looking at YVR > SFO in particular, there are quite a few options to choose from with both AA and AS serving both marketsYou do understand that even seat release requests are only for QF operated sectors? ie if there's nothing available for redemption on YVR-SFO, then even if they open SFO-SYD, you'd still need to find your way to SFO. QF can't request release from other carriers in this context.

You do know Westfield gift cards can be used anywhere eftpos is accepted ?Sure I can easily earn more points (would never buy gift cards however, I've had a useless Westfield gift card stuck in my wallet for years, way too many restrictions and you dont get the purchase protections you do on credit card) but I want to understand which activity is not being recognized correctly.
There is some off IT stuff going on, because in yesterdays platinum new letter the recap of my activity for the last 12 months (whether you look at calendar year or FF year) is way way off.

no . You should be able to use the ones for 2020 as well . I was using them elsewhere in 2015 or so !Only the newer ones (that are actually a visa gift card). The one I have was given in late 2020 and can only be used at Westfields in person not even online. The one place I go to at my local Westfields very rarely is the cinema and they have a huge sign-up stating they do not accept gift cards (and I tried to use it anyway and was declined).
