Qantas Premium Entry at Brisbane Domestic

Welcome, Trudie22. To complete your BNE priority checkin and security experience next time, drop your car at QF valet parking, all part of the same complex. That’s the part I like the best. . Next best is the security staff who are actually courteous.

Cheers skip

Other airlines have similar facilities around the world. Qantas needs this at SYD T1.

Realised the priority security & lounge entry in BNE only last week. But had to have a quiet laugh: the queue there was much longer than in the normal security. Would have been quicker to the lounge through the normal security check... 😀

I did exactly that this week .......... the line in the premium entry was 20 deep

My first time using the priority entry I should have used the normal queue as the priority queue was much larger (and slower).
But since then it's been somewhat ok speed wise.

I do like that it places you right into the lounge upstairs.

Yeah that happens a lot. And the normal security queue still has a priority lane - which confuses me I assumed it would have gone when they opened the premium entry zone...

Take your pick. If the premium entry looks busy as you approach, you can allways use the other premium lane. Best not to arrive too near the time of major city departures when the queues can be longer, though that's not always possible.

Is it just me, or at some point in the last year did they replace the x-ray machine where everything went through on a tray (and the trays are automatically sent back), with an older style x-ray machine?
I quite liked the new one. Unlike the ones with multiple stations to empty your belongings into, where the person closest to the x-ray can never get their tray onto the belt if it's backed up...(looking at you MEL International!)

The MEL priority screening is only sporadically policed and you can still access the conveyor from the non-priority lanes.
This is the same in PER.
So while you can avoid any long queue snaking around at peak times, the rest of the time the priority is meaningless.

Yes, Perth too. I would imagine there is more control at busy times.

Don't know about the Qantas terminal at MEL (I will find out on Monday) but at Jetstar it's the new one.

you are remembering correctly. They did have an automated conveyor system with an automatic tray return but they removed it 6 months or so ago.

It’s reopen but limited hours. From memory only in the mornings Mon - Fri, closed Saturday and open Sunday for a few hours around lunch time. Hours are on a sign at the entrance. I last checked it a week ago, it might change for Christmas.

it closes on a Sunday @ 15:00
Ask me how i know,,, i rocked up at 15:02 and was turned away, but there was next to no one at the general security check.
Unlike the JQ/VA security check- miles long, back up to the stairs!!

The bloody thing was closed at 8.30am last Sunday. Mind you I didn't read what hours it was open.
