Qantas Premium Entry at Brisbane Domestic

Flying BNE-CNS today in J. Arrived at the premium entry (carry on only) but had not checked in.

Scanned my FF card and was told I could not proceed because I had not checked in. She said she is unable to assist because of the “service desk cuts”, despite that same position checking me in many times pre covid.

She made me check in on my phone and once I had I scanned the card again and she let me through.

Not a big deal I guess but it’s just the principle of not lifting a finger to help pax. Knowing I won’t get my G&T onboard doesn’t help either!

With how easy it is to check-in on your phone, why would you hesitate?

I can understand that for some this is harder than it seems, and to have someone there that you know has checked you in previously but because of a new company policy (it would seem) will no longer do this very simple task for you, seems like a complete joke. Especially travelling on a legacy, premium carrier. We're not talking about Tiger here.

I guess it wont affect me, but I have had times in the past where – for whatever reason – OLCI does not work and I need to present to a desk.

It’s not hard, but as a general rule I usually board with my FF card or printed pass - I’m not a fan of using my phone to board.

Checking in online was previously just an unnecessary step when they could do it at lounge entry. I already said it’s not a big deal and will now start doing this, but it seems a petty cut of service to me.

Can anyone tell me if the Premium Lounge Entry is open at Brisbane domestic at the moment ? How early can we check in there for a domestic flight if that is the case ? My flight leaves at 15.05 hrs and I am a Qantas Gold member.

I can't answer your question on Premium Entry but regardless of whether it is or not, domestic check-in and bag drop is available all day.

Yes it’s open

Thank you, will try it :)
I’m going to be using this tomorrow as a J passenger - will I be able to take my colleague (not J, not QP member) through this entrance? Or will they have to go to the normal line, and I can meet them later (after I have grabbed a coffee :p) at the lounge entrance to guest them in?

The premium entry is really just another entry to the lounge, so the same rules apply.

Except it's now with modern security screening.
Standing sideways.
Any buldges for eg more credit cards in pockets they (security staff) will ask to take it out and put on tray.
But definitely faster than general pleb screening.
Nice J lounge though.

Pleb entry (at the QF end at least) has the same scanners.

Most airports have these now.

You could always go through the plebs security and check-in at the lounge. (Assuming they still can). They don't check boarding passes there.

Nice J lounge though.
But bulges from clothing still set off the system. Keep wearing the lycra!

ADL still has the older one where we just walk through.
I wasn't picked for the wand though.
Probably due to covid and cost cutting, J Lounge is a bit sad due to covid, less food and got coffee in take away mug, didn't ask for glass mug though.
Buffet is small now, and not restocked a lot each time.
But haven't flown QF for a long time, so worth it for one visit.
Old post I know.
Back to old life and grounded maybe for 1 more year.
Will stop my waffle here now.

Has ADL a J lounge? I remember the profiteroles with fondness.

The hot food in BNE QP is often better than the J lounge, in my recent experience.
